Welcome to the twelfth instalment in the Lost Tower Forum's new weekly series of polls!

Centered around the older installments of the Pokemon series of video games, these polls will be based on the various different aspects of the popular video game franchise. Every Monday, a Video Games staff member will post a new poll that'll remained stickied up on top of the forum. Suggestions for polls and questions can be sent to Joshawott, and they could possibly used for new polls (credit will be given, of course).

With that out of the way, here is the poll: Favourite Sinnoh Starter? When Pokémon first went dual-screen, players had to choose to partner up with the slow but reliable Turtwig, the fast and furious Chimchar or the cute penguin Piplup. Which one was your favourite travelling companion?

Piplup cuz it's cute. I replayed the Sinnoh games multiple times, but I never used the other two.

Turtwig, for a couple of reasons. One, it's incredibly strong as Torterra, and is the only grass starter I've ever actually found useful. Two, I like its design. And three? Well, Paul had one in the anime...

No contest, Chimchar, perhaps my favourite starter of all. Very useful in-game and for competitive battles; Infernape learns so many great attacks, it's hard to believe.

In terms of usefulness it'd be Chimchar. But Turtwig is definitely my favorite in general.

Chimchar, the only one that's useful in it's final evo.

Turtwig. I used one on my first playthrough and I've loved it ever since.

Piplup. For two reasons- one, I always use the water starter, and two, Empoleon is a beast.

Piplup without a doubt. Empoleon is fantastic IMO.

(though I never actually used the other two :p)

Chimchar, hands down. Monkeys are cool, but what about ninja monkeys that are on fire?
Also, I'm surprised to see Piplup leading the poll. Really? I think it's one of the all time worst starters design-wise, but to each his own I guess.

Turtwig. nuff said. Why? Well, it's part ground when it evolves into Torterra. It also learns Earthquake when it evolves, which gives you an advantage against Barry's Infernape. It's also very strong!

I'm tied between Chimchar and Piplup. However, I am going to have to go with the former with my vote. Perhaps because I personally found it more reliable during the fourth generation (I'm more of the power and speed type guy).

Piplup. Water's my favorite type and Empoleon just looks like a king.

I prefer Piplup for the sole reason it's a Steel and Water in its final evolution.

Turtwig, because Torterra is awesome. Piplup takes the close second place since Empoleon is also pretty awesome. :D

Piplup is my favourite Sinnoh starter by far out of the three. The main reason for this would be the amazing final evolution Empoleon, which I find to be just brilliant in it's appearance.

As far as competitive battle goes Empoleon is the most versatile out of the three in my opinion, as it can be used for a defensive role walling many opponents with it's fantastic typing and decent bulk (not to mention it's wide move pool), it can be an all out attacker easily switching into many that it resists, or even play a hand as a support Pokemon for the team.I use an Empoleon on one of my teams now as an offensive set, which works really well.

I do like Turtwig's evolution line for Torterra as well because it can in some places have a similar role, but not as well as Empoleon. I have never really liked Chimchar's line because of Infernape, which is mostly because it's based off a monkey.
