I think Bulbasaur is easily the best Kanto starter. Not only it is the best designed, its final form is also the most useful battle-wise.

Charmander no doubt, Always loved fire always will. But these original three all together are the best starting three to pick from.

For me it'd be Squirtle, with Bite, Ice Beam, and its design; I really loved using it more than the other two Pokemon.

Charmander. A great looking, strong fire-type. Charmeleon was cool and Charizard was an amazing beast who is still a Pokémon icon today.
