So, Professor Sada and Professor Turo end up having the same role in the story as Arven's parent and the cause of the finale's conflict. But in your opinion, who works better as the (posthumous) main antagonist?

Then again, many people headcanon both Sada and Turo existing simultaneously and being Arven's parents. If you do too, who did you think instigated this conflict? And if only one of them did, what do you think happened to the other Professor?

Oh, and this thread can be used for less spoiler-y version differences too, like if you prefer Naranja Academy over Uva Academy as the "canon" school... or think both would exist at the same time.

I'm personally partial to both of them working on the Time Machine while feuding over which stretch of time to pull Pokemon from.

I think both professors existed in both games . In both games, there were two professors working together in a time machine in area zero , but one of them went way just after Arven was born. In pokemon violet, you can read in one of Turo´s that "that woman left as soon as the boy was born". He never says her name was Sada, but she was obviously Arven´s mother, otherwise Arven´s birth wouldnt be a reason to go away. Sada didnt want a noisy baby bothering her while she was doing her research. Turo had to take care of Arven and do all the work alone. So he made a robot that was just like him to help him.

In pokemon Scarlet, the male professor( Turo) leaves Sada and Arven when Arven is born. Pokemon games versions are really parallel universes. Pokemon scarlet and violet were exactly the same, until the professors` separation.

I dont know if the professors can really be called antagonists. They died while protecting the protagonist´s dragon years before our journey begins. They programed the time machine to defend itself , but we dont know if they knew how harmfull the paradox pokemon would be . The robot says that they died because they misjudge the pokemon´s power .Their robots want us to stop the time machine, until they begin to be controled by the time machine, so they arent really antagonists. The main antagonists are the evil second dragon and the time machine.

I think they can be. It's stated that they were quite happy to leave the machine operating and only the AI figured out what a bad decision that was. They're fundamentally no better than Maxie and Archie: Misguided fools whose base desires could well have brought Paldea to its knees if the situation got as bad as it did in Hoenn.

If Sada/Turo didn't realise how dangerous it would be... well, neither did Maxie/Archie.

The fact that the AI realised that it was dangerous , might mean that the real professor would eventually realise that too if they didnt die, because the AI was programed to behave like the professor. The robots have the professor´s feelings and wishes, thats why they wanted to see the future/past , just like the original professors. At the moment of their death, they were happy to leave the machine working . The AI didnt stop them from doing it either.

Yes, they are in the same rank as Maxie , Archie and N as people that arent really evil, but are doing things that would have bad consequences. The Professor robot also helped the original professor to build the time machine, but its not an antagonist in the game , because by the time you know them, they want you to stop the time machine. When it battles you, it is controlled by the time machine system , so it doesnt count. The time machine system is the main antagonist.
