The Pokémon GO app will receive a Halloween-themed makeover during this event, with PokéStops and Gyms being reskinned with holiday decorations, and a remix of the Lavender Town music playing nightly in-game.
The following bonuses will be active during the event period:
- Additional Candy for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws.
- Additional Candy XL for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws.
- Trainers level 31 and above will receive additional Candy XL for hatching Eggs.
- 2× Candy for hatching Pokémon.

Two separate free event-exclusive Timed Research will be available from October 19th, at 10:00am local time, through to the end of the end of the Pokémon GO Halloween 2023 Part II event on October 31st at 8:00pm local time. The first of these focused on catching Ghost-type Pokémon, awarding encounters with Greavard, Stardust, and other rewards. The second focuses on Spiritomb and its 108 spirits, awarding encounters with Ghost-type Pokémon and Spiritomb,
Paid event-exclusive Timed Research will be available for the Pokémon GO Halloween 2023 Part I as part of the Ticket of Treats which was announced towards the end of last month. When the Timed Research tasks for Ticket of Treats Part 3 are completed, Trainers will receive two Incubators as well as additional encounters with Phantump. The tasks for this Timed Research will continue past the end of the Pokémon GO Halloween 2023 Part I event to the end of the month, with all rewards needing to be claimed before October 31st, at 8:00pm local time. Trainers may also gift the Ticket of Treats to any friend with a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher.
Event-themed Field Research tasks will also be available, offering a selection of Pokémon encounters when completed (see below), along with rewards of items including Poké Balls.
