Bork Bork. This is clearly a form answer. Don't know why this is even news.

I don't know what this means, but there is a reason Ru/Sa need to be remade other than the money. I'm sure others like myself have had their cart's memory battery die out by now, and while I know there is a way to replace it, I think it would be better to make a new version of it in the line of HG/SS. (Include Emerald's enhancements, render it in B/W's engine, and expand on those details we like to eat up so much. Maybe even make the PokeNav's Match Call like HG/SS's Pokegear, that'd be awesome)

I'm not surprised to hear this.

...And this means... Oh great, another wave of people bashing something Gen III-related, simply because they aren't Gen II. God, so, SO sick of the "New-Gen-Hate" that has come with every Gen since III.

And I'm sick of the Gen III fanboyism. I like Gen III, but I don't see any reason for it to be remade.

Haven't you heard? It's now cool to bash gen II, or so says GameFAQs. (Yes, I know they're idiots)

Ruby and Sapphire remain my favorite Pokemon games, but I really don't want to see remakes of them till next generation, when more than a single console iteration separates them enough to make them worth it.

I'm not a Gen III fanboy. I merely liked the game. Likewise, I liked Gen I, IV, and V. I just dislike II for how overrated it is.

If you ask me, Gen III had a lot of really good ideas, but due in part to the technological limitations, lacked the capacity to appropriately manifest them.
I mean, let's face it, wouldn't Meteor Falls be absolutely beautiful if they rendered it with Black and White's engine? How about the diving trenches? How about Sealed Chamber? How about Fortree City?
And that's before we start getting into the score... or Secret Bases... or bonus features... or me admitting that I'm probably getting carried away...

Besides, the Sonic games got better once Sega acknowledged the fanbase, they fixed Sonic 4 and made Colors and Generations for da fans.

The fanbase still complains even with Sonic 4, Colors, and Generations (as well as getting average to mediocre scores from Game Trailers and Jim Sterling). The point is that listening to the fanbase for ideas will result a disaster waiting to happen. Plus, wasn't the series' main target audience children (the people complaining seem to be those who grew up with Sonic as kids)?

Reasons to remake games:

- Extra profit
- Updated graphics
- Updated gameplay
- Ability to play with newer Pokemon in older games
- Add shoutouts to newer characters and regions
- Ability to introduce the game/ region to newer fans
- Give publicity to the region/ Pokemon (how many Gen III fans say that Hoenn needs to shine... wasn't Johto undermentioned before HGSS?)
- A chance to flesh out the story and play the paired versions with elements of the third version included
- Gives fans a chance to start another Pokemon game anew without erasing files

Anything else that I missed? Remakes SHOULD be a tradition in this franchise, after the paired and third versions. It's formulaic now.

A fanbase as divided as Sonic's is bound to create some conflict no matter what happens. That's typically what a fanbase does; some fans will get excited and approve of things, others will get angry over said developments, and it goes back and forth.

(as well as getting average to mediocre scores from Game Trailers and Jim Sterling).

Good show, ignoring the multitude of other review sites that gave the two games satisfactory to great ratings.

The point is that listening to the fanbase for ideas will result a disaster waiting to happen.

Sonic Generations is basically a massive love letter to the fans saying "We're sorry for the past, we're listening to what you have to say now, here's this trip to memories past to prove that and to make it up to you, let's make a brighter future from here." And of all all the previews I've seen of Sonic Generations, only one source has displayed anything not akin to anxiety and excitement, and even then, that one site was only skeptical. Hell, even Jim Sterling is getting excited for this game.

Plus, wasn't the series' main target audience children (the people complaining seem to be those who grew up with Sonic as kids)?

The series is targeted to children in much the same way as Mario is. Both series will primarily focus on the younger demographic, but some attention is given to the older fanbase that grew up with the franchise.

So yeah, R/S remakes. Can't say I'm surprised about a possibility of them being made. I'll definitely be looking out for them and seeing what new things it'll have in store.

Re: Masuda to "consider" Ruby and Sapphire remakes: Game Freak director acknowledges

My main beef with remakes NOW is that I want there to be new evolutions for a lot of either weaksauce or non-evolving Hoenn Pokemon. That's what made the FRLG cool - because you got to play through Kanto and still use the evolutions introduced in Gen II (Crobat, Steelix, Blissey), and with HGSS they introduced a ton of new evolutions for sucky Generation II Pokemon (Weavile, Honchkrow, Mismagius, Ambipom, and Togekiss to name a few). The roster of Hoenn Pokemon who have gotten evolution family updates is really, really sparse right now but I'm hoping G6 will fix that.

Good point. Didn't Nintendo and Gamefreak want to win back some fans with the recent games? I've overheard some people say that they played HGSS simply for the nostalgia factor. And in my case, BW is what officially rekindled my love for Pokemon, but in the meantime I tackled HG because of how much they improved the first Pokemon games I ever played. (I started in Gen II)

The impression I get is that you want the remakes to introduce new Pokemon...

It's usually the new Gens that introduce Pokemon, not the remakes, but I'm sure you know that. Also, Gen V didn't introduce new evolutions/babies because they intended for all-new Pokemon that didn't have any relation with older Pokes. :/ Probably because Unova was meant to be a faraway region.

I think he means that he doesn't want remakes until a future Gen introduces new evolutions for crappy Hoenn Pokemon, so that those new Pokemon will be included in the remakes.

Re: Masuda to "consider" Ruby and Sapphire remakes: Game Freak director acknowledges

If Gen 6 is going to include lots of prevolutions and evolutions of existing Pokemon then I hope they give us at least 170 new Pokemon altogether; 150 new ones and 20 new ones that are related to existing ones. Gen 4 is one of my faves out of the series but I was so pissed off at how many prevolutions and evolutions there were. Many of the evolutions were crappy and undeserving.

Still holding out for a Farfetch'd evolution and Girafarig.

Re: Masuda to "consider" Ruby and Sapphire remakes: Game Freak director acknowledges

I happen to be one who feel that remakes shouldn't be parallel to the main series, meaning that Generation 2 remakes could have waited instead of being released in Generation 4, although some good came from it like appeasing the fans and giving new moves to Pokemon. Reason being that making remakes at a traditional basis makes the franchise feel remake-driven, which really isn't the best way to go because that shows the franchise can't live without going back to the past. Now, that's not to say I don't welcome them; they provide a way to expand a Pokemon's movepool in order to patch up their usefulness, which is what happened to Rotom (Pain Split wasn't available to them until HeartGold and SoulSilver).

Concern aside, if they want to make a remake despite not being a proven fact, go ahead, because seeing what new moves a Pokemon learns will make the game a lot more interesting.

Thanks for reading.

I would love remakes so much, Hoenn was my first region to explore and I loved it! Was to young for those early games haha
