I am really excited for this announcement!
I hope it's a new game, preferably main series, but its ok if it's a side game. But I don't think Masuda would announce it if it was a side game.

A placeholder for the alternate forme in BW (DS games) also goes against the notion that Grey will appear on the 3DS IMO, as the 3DS is an entirely different platform.

All of the Unova games should stay on the exact same platform. The DS is not a dead platform, and nintendo have already said that they plan to continue supporting it. Its not like the 3DS needs a main series Pokemon game right now for support anyways.

But the 3DS is backwards compatible with the DS. It wouldn't be much of a problem.

I don't care too much anyway though. I just want my RSEmakes on the 3DS

It sure is not going to be grey. The developers made a clear message, not "No Third version (to prevent you from not buying b/w)" but "With B/W, we will break the tradition of having a third version"

In what way did they give that message, at all?

Mana Ibe did say something to that effect shortly after Black and White's launch, however, days later, Junichi Masuda came out and denied that.
Now, I'm going to believe Junichi Masuda (Black and White director, director of the board at GameFreak) over Mana Ibe (Pokémon Designer)

Just saw this on Serebii

Today in Japan, Junichi Masuda revealed in the Pokémon Centre in Fukuoka that there is to be an upcoming Pikachu event. This event is to tie in with the new bullet train in Japan in Kyushu Shinkansen. This Pikachu, to go with the concept of the bullet train, is to know the special move; Extremespeed. Full details on this event are due to come on Monday

What if Masuda trolls us and the announcement is details about this ^

Good call, Joshawott. Besides, most of the time Masuda's word is gospel for Pokemon fans, and the initial message of there not being a third version was only to make people buy BW instead of saving up over the years for a third. I found that silly though, since I buy both the initial pair on release and the third version. Have done since gen IV (I entered the pokemon fandom in gen III so I collected those separately).

That said, I WILL kill Masuda if he trolls over us. They all know we're anxiously awaiting "Gray" and later RS (possiblyE) remakes, but there's always the chance they'll do something wacky...like announce a Rumble 3.

I think overall what I want to hear is either:
- New Mystery Dungeon (DS)
- Gray/RSEmakes (DS)
- New console game similar to Col/XD but NOT like Battle Revolution, which was Col/XD without any story (Wii)

And what I don't want to hear:
- New spinoff (like a "Link 2"...shudder)
- New 3DS game
- Battle Revolution-like game with no story
- Some other wacky thing Masuda comes up with to make us think he's as crazy as a Spinda on Caffeine.

Edit: Spinda on caffeine...sounds meme-tastic, doesn't it?

Except that the initial reveal about his appearance on Sunday was from him in direct response to a question about Black and White's sequel. Unless it's Pokémon ExtremeSpeed Pikachu Version, I don't see that happening.

Sorry to be nitpicky but he didn't specifically say "Your question will be answered in Pokemon Smash" He clearly was not allowed to answer so he could have just dodged the question politician style. Not answering the question you asked but the question he wanted to answer.

He could dodge the question, but directly coming out and telling everyone oh gee watch next weeks episode of Smash to get an answer would be the worst thing he can do. If it is an event, then he should never be listened to again.

If he truly wanted to dodge the question, he would have just said something like "I have nothing to announce at this time". Not a specific "I can't announce anything now, but watch Pokémon Smash next week" (and he has stated the date multiple times on Twitter and his blog).

I would rather prefer to kill myself than Masuda's Pikachu announcement. Gawd no!

I really doubt his answer to BW sequels was for an extremespeed Pikachu. I really fucking doubt it. Ban me for a week if it happens, cause damn it I won't take it.
EDIT: HOLD THAT THOUGHT MODS. Apparently Masuda tweeted its not the reveal. All aboard the hype train again!

Yes, Masuda today answered a tweet asking "Could it be that the important announcement on PokeSma is the distribution of extremespeed Pikachu?" with "You're wrong!"
