Anime related contests could be in a way that give the contestants a choice of anime, and they can choose their favourite anime to draw from, while following the theme of the contest. Therefore more people can participate.
Since I do not know much about a lot of anime's, I would prefer pokemon related contests, or would choose to draw pokemon in anime related contests. There are a lot of ideas for pokemon related contests such as:
Drawing characters, like your favourite gym leader/trial captain with their pokemon. It could be related to travelling companions, etc.
Drawing Pokemons, like specific types (ghost, dragon, electric, etc), Mega evolutions.
These are just small suggestions I could think of, I know its nothing creative like this indigo saga contest though.
