"The setting for the adventure is Isshu Region, 2 years after B/W! What is with the map showing the setting being covered in ice? Did some weird event happen?!"
Oh good, there is actually some text supporting it. It really sounds like it's implying it is Unova itself and not the map; Town Maps are digital, so it showing ice when there isn't any doesn't make much sense. You really had me worried for a short while that it may just be cloud-esque hiding, but that quote makes simply hiding much less likely; "Did some weird event happen" clearly implies that something has happened in Unova itself that has caused it, not simply someone tampering with your map.

Also, I'm betting this ice ends up like future Zora's Domain: you get rid of the thing that was keeping it frozen, but it takes so long to defrost you never get to see it unfrozen.
I'm guessing at this point its schema-consistent processing on an ambiguous sentence given that its been interpreted both ways, and I find it more telling that sunyshore changed his position about the ice after translation (he translated the above text actually, and no concludes its only talking about the map). Regardless, something weird clearly is happening in East Unova.

Well given that the Giant Hole (where you catch Kyurem in B/W) is one of the areas that's "frozen", it's possible that it's right there where all the weird things are going on...

Yes I agree with this. Instant freeze.

Not sure what to do for a team. Usually I play through a region with only Pokemon from that generation, but I already did that in BW would be boring to play with all gen 5's again, at the same time don't like breaking my formula.

I think the male protagonist looks cool and I like his design, despite looking a bit like a Digimon character. The female looks awesome as well. Their wide eyes are an interesting feature if you ask me, because it makes them look more like children, even though the girl's got a bit of protrusion on her chest.

Thanks for reading.

The pattern on the new Gym Leader's guitars looks a bit like Fushide (stripes on its tails, to be more specific)

Assuming that a chunk of Unova is genuinely frozen, I have to wonder what happened to the people there. Displaced? Living under the ice? My hunch is that some Kyurem-related event towards the end of the main story will get rid of the ice and make the north/east accessible again, but how well would these areas have survived being frozen?

The main doubt I have right now about whether or not the ice is "real" is related to how it looks in that image. It doesn't look like it's on a three-dimensional surface, and it doesn't seem to follow the levels of the land and sea. It does seem more like it's covering the image, rather than the terrain. And this sort of ice-pocalypse seems kind of dark for a Pokemon game, don't you think?

But, then again, it makes perfect sense considering the story, and where Kyurem was found in the previous games.

In addition to my last comment, the male playable character looks like he evolved from Lillipup. And I am tempted to play as a guy and name myself Lillipup.

That's exactly what I think too, I think the ice is there on the map just for decoration, when in reality, either nothing is different beneath the ice at all and everything is normal there, with the magazine trolling us to make us scared or interested in what happened, or as I stated in an earlier post, there is unusual winter weather going on in that area, with there being snow on the ground, and snowflakes falling from the sky, so everyone who lives in that area is alive and well, it's just winter weather occuring in an area who's climate does not allow snow to fall.

Mind you, in B/W, snow only appeared around the Iccirus area, going from Twist mountain to Iccirus City to Route 8, and ending once you reach the end of Tubeline Bridge, I think they are trying to expand the area of where it snows in the game so winter weather won't be so "exclusive" to a single corner of the region (interesting that Anville town is located northwest of Iccirus, and yet there is no snow there at all in the winter.)

About the whole ice thing... I'm gonna think outside the box for a minute here.

With showing ice on the map, what if it's just indicating a future event that happens in the climax of the plot? Or better yet, what if the Team Plasma revival had actually managed to take over parts of Unova (the ones frozen over) within that span of 2 years that's between B/W and B2/W2?

First, I want to point out something that I've noticed: Is there another city just south of Driftveil City, or is that just part of Driftveil City?

And second: I hope the ice isn't just something that they are using to cover up the map.

The part of the article that says:

Bulbanews said:
There appears to be cave entrances to the glacier.

That makes me think that the glacier is real...
But when I look at the glacier and the cave entrances, it looks like the glacier's ice doesn't seem to match up with the cave entrance's ice...
Also, take a closer look at Skyarrow Bridge: It doesn't look like the ice is affecting it. In fact, I think I can see the other half of it through the ice!
If this 'glacier' is just a clever way of hiding the rest of the region...

I was just thinking the same thing. It just doesn't fit in with the rest of the art style. I think it's just like the mist that was initially covering the Unova map with BW.

I'm pretty sure the skin color of his foot might be his sole because black-colored people have lighter skin their palms and soles.

From what I can see the entire foot is white. I am black and my skin does not have that big of a contrast with my foot, and I'm barefoot while typing this.

If you look at the torso as well, there's a solid black line between the blue and the pale flesh-coloured part indicating a transition in clothing or patterns. However, there is no such line between the dark part of the skin and the pale part, either suggesting his skin merged with his clothes, or Shizui has a terrible tan. Seriously. He goes around shirtless and wears sandals. HOW ARE THOSE PARTS SO PALE. And the pattern makes it seem like he probably wears SPFover9000 sunscreen in those areas to keep the pattern >_>

Lol I have no idea, but GF probably is going to go overboard with the sterotype that hes based on. Looking at him, I'm guessing what he did was walk around in a towel and shoes that covered up his feet. I don't think that I've ever seen a tan that bad though.

People still believe it's actually a glacier and not just a visual effect added to the map just to shroud it, and chose ice because it fits with Kyurem?

Also, that tanline.

I am quite excited to finally see some CoroCoro scans for BW2. I really like the designs for the player characters and rival. I'm not really that certain about the professor's design, though.

Looking forward to the game.

And why is only half of Icirrus City covered up? I'm hoping the gym is accessible otherwise there's only 7 gyms.

Hello, Icirrus is an Ice Gym, they'd probably like it.

Anyway, I hope that we won't be able to get to that one and have a different gym leader somewhere else (hopefully Dark type)

So are all the gym leaders getting replaced or only some? Also, I wonder what gyms Homika and Shizui are replacing?

My guess is that they are only replacing some of the gym leaders.

As for Homika and Shizui: If the ice is real, and most of Unova is covered in it, then I'd say that they'd get new gyms in the southwest corner of Unova.

The horrible uneven tan makes me wonder if he's from the Unova equivalent of the Jersey Shore D:

Honestly, while I think something is obviously going on in that portion of the region, I don't think its been frozen over--at least not to the extent the ice is making it seem. If anything, the ice is representative of the influence Kyurem will have on that part of the region.
