Despite all the hype about Kyurem's Overdrive mode, I'm still really curious about how Zekrom and Reshiram fits into all this. It's pretty obvious that Black Kyurem is Zekrom and Kyurem combined, and White Kyurem is Reshiram and Kyurem combined. Like... are the bad guys responsible for fusing the Dragons together, or does it have to do with the Unova myth about Resh and Zek being two parts of one Dragon?

Bulbagarden does say that it's an ice cap sooooooo...

Poison Gym Leader: cool, let's get rid of Brycen, he's boring.
Ice Cap would be cool.
If we're starting from somewhere else will the order be different?

I just realized something. If the game takes place two year after B/W, wouldn't there be some slight appearance changes in some of the characters like Elesa and Burgh.

Elesa became fat and is no longer a model and Burgh, by spending a bit too much money on his paintings, he's now bankrupt and had to sell the gym. The place is now a casino.

hi everyone! i know this is my first post but I found something that might interest you.

I was looking at the scans and I found an new location on the map that is just east of the enterlink east bridge.

Take a look at this:
http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/7/72/CoroCoro_May_2012_BW2_1.png

If you look under the red arrow you can see a new building/area in the east mountains and being encroached by the ice.

Compare to the original map:
http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/4/42/Unova_alt.png

What is this? Is this the location of Plasma's new hideout?

You're right. I never noticed that. There is something on the western side of the mountain. I guess we'll have to wait to find out what it is unfortunately.

I love the girl's design-- She actually is wearing clothes that a 10 year old would wear! D: ...With her bow-tie bra and all...

Actually, is there some news on how old these characters are? Last year threw us for a loop saying they were a bit older, but I don't think we were ever given an idea of how much older. Anything this time?

Judging from their body proportions, they look shorter than the B/W protaginists, so I am assuming that they are younger.

Most likely they're younger than BW's protagonists but still older than the Gen I-IV crew. That's the impression I get from the picture, anyway.

The new boy could be Hilda's little brother. They're uncannily similar.

Does it seem possible that the girl might actually be Hilda's sister? They seem much more similar. I think they are most likely older then the Gen I-IV characters
but equal or close to Hilda/Hilbert's age. I doubt they will suddenly change the age range. But then again, many theories about this generation were proven false , so who knows?
On a related note, given how similar the new protagonists look to the Hilda and Hilbert what are the odds they could be related? Or perhaps they really are Hilda and Hilbert only with different albeit similar designs.

I thought they stopped doing that after Gen 2?

No, Grass-types are still weak against Poison-types. I remember my Budew getting its ass kicked a few times by Poison-type moves in Platinum.

No that's not what I meant. I mean I thought they stopped doing the thing where each starter corresponded to the level of difficulty. I remember in RBY as well as FRLG you are encouraged to go for Bulba as it will be easy perfect for beginners, Squirtle is ok, but Charmander requires patience (ie difficult) because Bulbasaur fairs quite well all the way up to the 6th gym, Squirtle up the 3rd, but Charmander has a problem with both the top 2.

Then they reversed it in GSC and HGSS, Cyndaquil was easy as he was strong against the first few, none were really strong against him. Totodile was just normal against the first few, but then Chikorita had difficulty with the early ones.

But then I think they stopped doing that, where they made it deliberately harder for one starter etc. RSE and DPPT still started with rock, ie tough on Fire, but after that it was pretty equal, then in BW, you were at a disadvantage in the first gym no matter where you started.

How do you know how old I am? Exactly. I happen to be around that age.
If I were 15....well, I'm most likely still going to be a fan then.....

Speaking of first gyms, I believe BW2 will follow the same route as BW1 with the Striation brothers. The water type gym leader could be one of the three brothers with the same style.

But soon you have to resort to older women by the time you grow up because these Pokegirls don't age, and you could get in serious trouble by the officials if you act out on either of them being your waifu.

What if I don't age either......

FYI, you can get one of the three monkeys in the Dreamyard, and the monkey you get will always be the monkey strongest against the gym leader you would face. There really is no real disadvantage, unless you insist on using your starter and nothing else.

It intrigues me that Dragonspiral Tower, the Giant Chasm and Victory Road/ Plasma's Castle have been covered by the ice.
...

You know, when I said I was doing Golett rescues, it was technically just a joke. Now with this little revelation, I'm not so slagging sure....

I'm on the fence when it comes to the female PC's design. It's cute, but I really liked Hilda's design and nothing can top her. As time passes, I'm sure the design will grow on me but Hilda will still be my fave Poke girl. But other than that, I'm seriously excited about this game--autumn can't come quick enough! :XD:

Long time reader, first time commenter.

So, the new trailer on the Japanese website looks pretty cool, looks like there'll be a few more features in the game this time around.

Here are some things I'm theorizing/hoping for in this installment:

1. So, white kyurem is the mascot for white 2 now, and black kyurem for black 2. But in BW1, it was the other way around (ie Zekrom for white and reshiram for black).
This suggests to me that there is some continuation between black 1 and 2, and white 1 and 2.
Let me explain using black as an example (the same is for white, just using Zekrom instead): So, in Black, N caught Zekrom, yet, in Black 2, Zek-Kyurem is the mascot, suggesting we'll have the opportunity to capture it. What I think happened is that N released Zekrom and that, perhaps, it reverted back to it's dark stone form (or it was forced back). During the events of Black 2, there must be some sort of occurrence where Zekrom is forced to merge with Kyurem. Sure, that much is obvious, but the real question is whether it happened before the beginning of Black 2, or if it happens during the story. Also, I have no clue what happens to Reshiram in Black 2. Maybe the hero from Black holds onto it.

2. The new player characters are kind of a mixed bag with me. On the one hand, I like that the female kind of regained some modesty (I mean seriously, those sorts of skirts on girls who are supposed to be 10 years old), but on the other hand, I'm getting a real digimon vibe from the main male character and his rival, I guess it's the ridiculous hair (I miss Red)

3. I'm really hoping the non-Unova pokemon don't invade the places which housed solely Unova pokemon (in BW1) too much. I wasn't too crash hot on the Gen V pokemon to begin with, but I've begun to grow quite fond of them (well, most of them *cough* Trubbish! *cough*). Also, I was planning to do a Nuzlocke run for my first playthrough of Black 2, and I don't really want to be stuck with pokemon I've been playing with for the past 4 generations. Still, I am looking forward to finding an Eevee. Hopefully a few gyms are on the eastern side of Unova, with most of the past gen pokemon residing over there.

4. So, the trailer on the Japanese website showed what the water type gym's puzzle is like (check the japanese website homepage to see what I'm talking about). It looks pretty cool, and hopefully the other gym's will have some decent puzzles. BW1 was okay, and I feel Gen IV (DPPt) was the worst in terms of gym puzzles (especially the fighting type gym).

Anyway, that's all I have to say, can't wait to get into it again!

The "300 Pokemon" thing is the other thing about this that bothers me. I've tried and failed to translate that part of the scan myself (accursed tiny kanji) but a regional Pokedex with 300 entries is way more feasible than one with 450+ entries.
I asked a Japanese-fluent friend to look at the chunk of text in question. His response was as certain as you can be when dealing with translation from Japanese - it's "approximately 300 Pokémon are available for registration in the new Unovadex", not "approximately 300 new Pokémon are available for registration in the Unovadex". (The second sentence is "make friends with Pokémon both old and new".)

Well we were talking about starters, and how they fair against Gym leaders. If you had followed the conversation more closely you would see we were referring only to starters. As their used to be a system where some starters would find it more difficult than others. There has always been Pokemon in the surrounding area to help you howver.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. The rival's hair kind of reminds me of Ken when he was the Digimon Emperor, except he got electrocuted and his hair went wild. The male kind of reminds me of Davis (the one with Veemon) and the boy from season 3 with Guilomon (the red dinosaur one). The male design has kind of grown on me though since I first saw it. I still can't get over the fact that it looks like he is wearing leggings like the girl.

Wrong. I was following the conversation closely, and was well aware that you were referring to the starters.

I was just pointing out the monkeys as a matter of fact. I find that in the other games, especially in Gen I, you were limited to common Pokemon who were otherwise not at an advantage to the first gym leader, and then if you hadn't picked the at-advantage starter, you'd pretty much be forced to level up to win. With the monkeys, they are guaranteed to give you an advantage no matter what, that was what I was pointing out, the guarantee.

And in regards to your last bit, name at least 1 surrounding Pokemon in Gen 1 that could provide you with an advantage. There was only one, Mankey, and it could only be caught before the first gym in Yellow. In Green, Red and Blue, you only had the Pidgey, Rattata, Nidoran, Spearow, Caterpie, Weedle, and Pikachu lines. And none of those were at a good advantage against Brock.
