or rather, if you're willing to ask people to give username history so you can look into how they play and respond to things, would you give some names you've played by in the past in exchange?

you're hiding your meta while trying to get people to give you info so you can check their meta.

This only makes sense if I was an existing member, which I am not. Therefore, I'm only looking at the future where my handle stays the same and therefore people will acquire meta on me.....but I can't do the same if their handles keep changing. That was my point, but I think perhaps you misinterpreted it. I have no desire to look back and check people's meta - that's a level of work I'm not willing to do, heh.

OR, you're trying to fit a round peg into a square hole, in which case the mafia juices are flowing and I say we speedlynch you with a quickness.

;-)

Sorry, I missed this point before I replied. Yeah, you misinterpreted my intention. I was only thinking about the go-forward situation - I have no plans to read old games here to gain meta reads on people. I was only thinking about this point and forward.

As an aside, what is the typical amount of time a game remains in signups before it fills?

alright then

there's a limit of 20 days for signups to fill and, as I recall, a week after they fill for the host(s) to start the game or redesign and balance it so it can start, otherwise it goes back to the end of the queue or is canceled
other than that, depends on the host(s)

I've been here for years, and even I have trouble with that.

for that matter, everything's ready, just waiting on the main host (@returnofMCH) to give the word and n0/role sending will begin

also
because I'm bad at paying attention sometimes an important part of the rules has been checked and corrected, this game is NOC

anyway, since I'm sure ME is anxious for his flavor to be shown off, it is now Night Zero.

Night 0: The Sleeper Awakens

returnofMCH sat bolt upright as his alarm clock went off. He rubbed his neck, which seemed to have a crick in it, as he pondered his dream last night. Fleeting glimpses of a cloaked figure and a strange portal entered his conscious mind, but disappeared just as suddenly. He stood up a little shakily, as the room spun around a bit. He steadied himself by leaning against the wall and taking a few deep breaths. He had a busy day planned. He would be meeting with the Section Head of Fun and Games, Maniacal Engineer, who had a special assignment for him. Details of the assignment were currently unknown, but, considering that the Super Moderator had several staff members at his disposal, this must certainly be serious if he was asking for an outsider's assistance.

The bounty hunter pondered the mysterious summons from the Modfather for a few more moments before stretching casually and getting dressed. He prepared himself a nice breakfast and took it with him as he boarded the light rail that would navigate him through the Random Messages thread and to the F&G Administration Building beyond.
As RM's cityscape passed by outside his train windows, MCH munched on his breakfast, enjoying the scenery as the MegaPod Tower, lava-tory, RM Bar, and Vulpix Towers flashed by. The F&G Administration Building was the final stop on the light rail, and MCH stepped off just as he was finishing his meal. He walked up the front steps to the impressive doors, through which he entered into the reception area.
One of ME's new mods, DarthWolf, looked up from his desk at the new arrival.
"He'll be with you shortly," said the kingmaker, who was just putting his finishing touches on his own breakfast, a large stack of waffles.
MCH chuckled as he glanced at his watch, 9:01am.
"He hasn't even gotten to the office yet, has he?" asked he asked.
DarthWolf's sigh was the only answer MCH needed.
Suddenly, the front doors were thrown open by what seemed like a massive gust of wind.
The whirlwind blasted through the reception area, nearly knocking over chairs and displacing all of the Mechanical Engineering magazines littered around the reception area.
"Morning boss," said DarthWolf, as the whirlwind passed by, offering it a cup of Irish Breakfast tea.
The tea disappeared into the maelstrom with a grunt of thanks, as the whirlwind, revealed to be the tardy and disheveled Section Head, continued racing towards his office.
"Morning boss," called out Elementar and Lone_Garurumon, ME's other new mods, as he passed by.
The mad scientist muttered greetings, as he stormed into his office, shutting the door behind him.
A few moments later, the office doors opened again, and, looking significantly less frumpy, the Section Head stepped out.

He walked into the reception area and greeted his guest, escorting him into his office. Once they were inside, the Super Mod shut the doors yet again.
Without preamble, the F&G Boss sat himself at his desk and indicated that MCH should do the same. The bounty hunter sat, as ME steepled his fingers.

"We have a problem," he said, leaning in.

Day 1: A Case for a Gumshoe

Taken aback by the Section Head's intensity, returnofMCH remained speechless as Maniacal Engineer stood up, crossed the room to his private bar, and poured himself a drink.
He walked back over to his desk and stood staring out the window, silently sipping his beverage.
After a few moments of this MCH regained his senses.
"What seems to be the problem?" he asked.
ME turned and sat back down, sighing. The weariness of his job weighing heavily upon him. He reached into his desk drawer and pulled out a dossier, which he placed in front of the bounty hunter.
MCH open the file and began scanning its contents, becoming more and more confused as he read on.
"You want me to investigate some vandals sticking their chewing gum to the RM fountain?" he asked, slightly incredulously, "I hardly think that such a small matter would require my expertise. Besides, don't you have staff members who can handle this?"
ME shook his head.
"Darth, Lone, and Elementar are still far too new for something like this, and Zexy and Sky have to focus on their own Sections," the Super Mod replied, "Dylan has been helping me babysit the new staff members, so he's got his plate full, too."
"You still haven't explained why this requires any sort of attention whatsoever," countered the bounty hunter, "it's a very minor issue, if that."
ME shook his head yet again.
"There's something larger at play here," he said clenching his robotic hand, "I can feel it."
MCH sighed, and subconsciously rubbed his neck, which had begun to twinge again.
"Fine," he said, "I'll charge my usual rates, including the upfront payment."
The mad scientist nodded, and walked over to his wall safe, hidden behind a picture of his girlfriend which was captioned "My Everything."
After punching in his combination, getting his retina and thumb scanned, and having his DNA tested, the Section Head's safe popped open. He pulled out a large stack of money, and tossed it to MCH.

The bounty hunter pocketed the cash as the Section Head sealed his safe.
"Was there anything else you needed," he asked, as ME returned to his seat and pulled out some paperwork.
"Not at the moment," said the Super Mod, only half paying attention.
MCH stood to depart, and ME stood with him and shook his hand.
"Good luck," the Section Head said, "and keep me posted on your findings."

The bounty hunter nodded and departed from the F&G Boss's office.
Shortly thereafter, a message came through on the intercom system.
"Lone_Garurumon, please report to my office, the spam filters need cleaning again."
The newly minted moderator sighed as he thought about the horrible stench of spam clogging up the pipes.
