Memes you dislike?

I know this is probably a very unpopular opinion, but I detest pretty much all memes from the past decade. Once "meme" became almost synonymous with "image macro," the Web became so much less amusing.

I miss the memes that were original creations, like Trogdor and Charlie the Unicorn. Those were solid.

Is it bad I only know Trogdor from Guitar Hero II?

Also, now that I mentioned GH: "go play a real guitar". Nevermind that it's only a game, that you play for fun. Nobody says that they are a real guitarist because they beat "Through the Fire and Flames" on Expert. On the plus side, this one thankfully died.

To be honest, I'm not really a fan of memes in general. Occasionally I see one that makes me laugh (like "Crazy Cat Lady Starter Kit"), but they're usually so surreal or obscure that I don't understand them. It's like being in a room full of people, and they're all laughing at something but you don't know what it's about, so you feel left out.

One of the reasons I prefer forums like this one over the Pokemon subreddits is because the latter are so oversaturated with memes.

I'm pretty tired of internet culture in general (or maybe I'm just getting old, lol), but some of the ones I dislike the most are:
Rage comics (or anything else similar to them)
People casually using the term "degenerate," in the exact same context it was used in Nazi Germany
"Harambe"

memes with fake news in them, especially political ones , about countries , ideology.
I get tollerance is important , but free speach should be more.
Like a small countries makes out less then 1% of population , Homosexuals make from 1 to 5% of population... does it mean that we should treat countries more worse because they are less people living there?

There aren't any memes I outright hate. I have a fairly broad sense of humor but even if a meme doesn't appeal to me I just don't pay attention to it. It helps that most memes die out fairly quickly nowadays anyway.

What I do truly dislike are YouTube and Reddit comment section "jokes/memes". They're just the same unfunny and unoriginal jokes repeated over and over again with the sole intent of getting quick and easy likes/attention. It's truly something when you come across a YouTube comment section that isn't full of the same comments you've seen a thousand times over.

Honestly, any meme can make me happy or unhappy. It just happens to be HOW you use the memes.
So, I really feel like hate towards memes is kinda undeserved.

The only time memes get under my skin is when they're used to make fun of a group, like Reddit users or British people's teeth.
Just because one person has done something or has something that's bad doesn't mean everyone is like that!

I don't like Mudkip or Snivy much because I never liked their respective memes. To me, the memes overstayed their welcome and left a lasting negative impression.

I also don't understand most "Gen Z humor"-based memes. It's mostly so incoherent, I don't find them funny, and I'm from Gen Z!

god the clip of that one grey kitten holding its ears and mewling annoys the shit out of me. the cat is cute but the sound is irritating as hell, and I can't escape how frequently it gets put in videos.

Wow I made this damn thread so long ago, I was only 15 then.

ANYWAYS let me say that in 2024, I absolutely cannot stand wojaks. They are the most unfunny and ugliest things and nearly every wojak 'comic' can be boiled down to: my opinion = good and correct, your opinion = bad, wrong, and you're also stupid (and it's often making fun of people who support things like gender equality, queer rights, etc. too) They're basically just rage comics but at least rage comics had more use than than making fun of people with different opinions and weren't all variations of like the same damn pic.

Also dislike probably 99% of 'anime memes' because they're either going to be an already unfunny meme template but with pics of anime girls used to 'complete' the meme (with like no joke or punchline) or just cropped hentai/ecchi, which again isn't a joke or humor - that's just cropped pornography.

ALSO absolutely hate the ableist 'REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE' meme as well. That meme can go into the trash.

I hate memes that are basically new ways to insult people. (Except if it has enough irony where it isn't really hurting anyone.)

I also hate memes that are literally just saying the same thing over again (Like the resent "I need more boo-lets" and Freddy Fazbear laugh). Because there often isn't really a joke added when people use them and it just comes off as brainless.
