Misty and Brock?

They probably won't appear, if at all. I mean, at this rate, it'll be Iris who will have a cameo appearance. I mean, it's her turn. As much as no one wants that, it will happen.

Brock just made a special guest appearence not long ago. Don't expect him to be seen anytime soon, if at all.
Previous companions usually make guest appearences at some moment during the run of the next region and it is always the ones from the previous generation. So, if someone is to be expected to make a brief return in Kalos, chances are they will be Cilan and Iris.

first I'll get this out of the way....PALY YOU'RE ON HERE TOO!? YAY :D
anyway, I don't think Misty nor Brock will return, Misty doesn't have a good reason to do it and Brock just return in a special

I'd rather they stay in the past for the moment. As much as my nostalgia is telling me otherwise neither of the two can really develop or add anything to the story at this point. Besides I'd rather hold on to my memories of them then see then come back when they aren't needed.

They'll sadly won't make an appearence, or that's what's more likely to happen, since they've been ditched as "way too old fashioned for anybody to even remmeber them" no matter how many people claim for them to be on the series again. I'm assuming that it would be more plausible if there were some changes among the staff members, or if they were to re-examine more than a couple of things about how the anime is put up togheter and what are its objectives. It woul dalso be more plausible if someone poured on their coffe cups the "think -dummy- think" syrup, but then again, i think that unless there's come kind of change in that aspect, we won't get much of Misty and Brock.

That's really sad that the writers think they're too old school to make a return, I think is long overdo (Especially with Misty) to make a guest appearances. I mean would a phone call from Ash to check on Misty be too much to ask?

Doubt it.

Brock just got a special and Misty, well, the writers obviously love to leave her out for some reason.

There has no been any implications or signs of thpose two getting any sort of return unfortunately. Wiuth Brock he appeared recently in pokemon special along with Cilan though, so you can say writers havent forgopt about him. Though i would like to see him get at least some cameo appearance in Kalos series meeting Ash new traveling companion, show more info about his path of becoming doctor and some new pokemon he may catch in meantime which would be of assistance in his future adventures.

But Misty? Its like she completely fell into the ground disappearing from face of earth(minus minor references through flashbacks and tokens in form of lure).
Sad because she has lot of deoth and unique traits going for her personality both in OS but chronicles, AG appearances too brimming with lot of spunk, emotion and humor not deserving to be erased from complete existence. And Whirl Cup, her worshipping of Lorekei being interested in becoming top water trainer in world, meet and connect with legendary water type(similar how manga dud with Suicune), but her personal issues too offered room to be done much more. Even in Gold, Silver games her game counterpart states how she worships Lorelei planning to leave gym in future to travel and rank up as trainer.
Leaving her story unexplored and unfinished in several ways be it her water master dream, unfulfilled ambitions, personal desires and motives of learning as much as she can about water types and other specialists, future plans of what she intends to do in life etc having lot of fresh potential to expand on her story.

There were plenty of opportunities to return Misty in last 8 years and have something being done with her. But writers missed on each and every one of them.

Reason behind reuse of popular characters like Misty and Brock in this case in my opinion always exists.
Whether its to get get update on this characters, what new pokemon or clothes they might have, how much they improved in meantime as trainers or coordinators etc. Along with increasing continuity of this series, hype things up and attract more people toward anime through unexpected surprises such things cause giving people better view into history strengthening pokemon storyline.

Having them appear could also serve purpose of giving to older character some development seeing him grow more. It would also satisfy many older fans giving to us some interesting arc when older characters return being nice surprise which would be more welcomed to see than some filler or episode which is based on training or seeing Ash helping bilionth pointless COTD calming upset pokemon or some other random mischief happening down the road.

But it seems writers have lack of motivation in doing build up with their previous creations asnd their stories taking them in new, exciting directions not recognizing appeal and potential their reuse from time to time could bring on table.

Rather sticking with policy of forgeting and abandoning their previous creations like they never mattered or existed with any impact they left on story and friendship established with Ash and others losing on significance. Along with letting their stories and dreams stuck in stagnation never receiving update on how far their ambitions took them wih all effort, hard work and experiences they went through leading nowhere ending as nothing more than wasted potential.
Taking away from stable story, continuity and anime identity eroding foundations on which series were build, its history and events which influenced its characters and plot.

I'd rather they stay in the past for the moment. As much as my nostalgia is telling me otherwise neither of the two can really develop or add anything to the story at this point. Besides I'd rather hold on to my memories of them then see then come back when they aren't needed.

To be honest you can always incorporate previous companion in story again playing valuable role, while making sure that his own story/career receives benefit from it as well finding waay through whiuch their lives and careers they pursue would tie into current storyline having both plot and character gain something from it.

It only depends on writers willingness if they want to do more with him/her having right vision through which character could go forward.
Which is something they don't seem to have.
