They probably just made an Ash/Anabel ship for the hell of it. There probably is no deeper meaning, and it's kind of strange since it wasn't made to push another ship either.

In any case, I'm glad the writers are willing to put Ash in new ships without Misty around. The closer we get to the canon death of Pokeshipping, the better. ;)

How's that strange? They did it with LuckShipping.
Though, given LuckShipping, it does seem like they've established a sort of pattern. The next brain could very well fall for Haruka or Masato.

In any case, I'm glad the writers are willing to put May in new ships even though Ash is still around. We can't really have a canon death of AdvanceShipping, since it's never been born in the first place, but ContestShipping just buries the coffin of the idea of AdvanceShipping being possible even lower.

Yes, I know the above post was slightly off-topic, but there was no need for your bashing of PokéShipping in this topic with statements like that either.

The thing is, there are no other Brock ships around. It doesn't make a difference to have Lucy like Brock, because he desperately needs a girl.

For Ash, was there really a reason? I guess they just did it to make Anabel a more interesting character.

Ah, I forgot, I'm posting on Bulbagarden. Silly me!

AbilityShipping is the first "blatant" ship in AG to conflict with Pokeshipping. Now we know nothing will come of this ship since it's the same as all the other one-shot ships, but I'm glad the writers don't have to say, "Oh, there's a red head rotting away in Cerulean Gym who still likes him, we can't have any other girl crush on him in AG!"

I'm glad the writers destroyed that theory. :D

With Misty in Cerulean, there are no other Ash ships around, either.

Bulbagarden ain't the only place that doesn't believe in Advanceshipping. ;)

Buh? What are you talking about?

The theory that people had that the writers wouldn't *dare* create any new Ash ships now that Misty was off the show.

AbilityShipping destroyed that theory. Yes, it is most likely a one-shot ship seeing as how Anabel may never show up again, but it broke that rule nonetheless. I see this as opening the gateway to many new Ash ships, without having to be restrained by Pokeshipping.

The theory that people had that the writers wouldn't *dare* create any new Ash ships now that Misty was off the show.
I've never once heard that theory, on either BMGF or SPPF. Even if it did exist, how does the shooting down of such a stupid prediction prove anything as regards Pokeshipping? Not every mention of romance in the series is going to have significance towards the final pairings. Sid/May didn't. May/Joshua didn't. Ash/Giselle didn't.

I laugh at your "lol Pokeshipping is dead because they made another girl have a crush on Ash", Scott. Especially since AbilityShipping is a ship that's probably not going to see the light ever again.

So funny that you take things happening to your convenience. Because I yet have to see you saying "AdvanceShipping is dead because there are practically 0 hints for it and May's main ship (Contestshipping) is pretty much canon now.

I said right in my first post that Abilityshipping is a one-shot ship that we'll never hear of again. I just like the fact that the writers have finally broken the mold in AG, and given Ash a two-episode love interest with NO Misty around. Meaning, they didn't create this ship to "push" Pokeshipping like they did with the previous ones.

In other words, they made a new Ash ship for the heck of it. In a way, I find that extremely satisfying on it's own.

Considering some people try to pass off Misty standing in Ash's house as a hint, I wouldn't be talking. :p

For my thoughts on Contestshipping check my post in this thread, you probably saw it already though:

I don't want to get into a Contestshipping argument again because I don't want to upset Jo-Jo. I don't want to repeat myself and dash her hopes again. :/

No, because you use it as an anti-PokéShipping hint. Now, Misty practically admitting her love for Ash in her third hoso (and it was Ash she was talking about) is something that can be counted towards PokéShipping.

To say something on-topic, AbilityShipping doesn't affect PokéShipping because after AG170, Ash has still shown no romantic interest in a girl.

Only in a way that everytime Misty and Ash have met in AG, it's a missed opportunity for Pokeshipping. They had 5 episodes total so far where they could have included some "real" Pokeshipping hints, but we got nothing but platonic friendship between the two.

Going from the main series only, Misty hasn't shown anything to Ash in AG besides being his friend. I don't know if this will change the next time they meet (I guess near the end of the BF saga), but as of now, there's nothing to write home about.

shipping is in the eye of the beholder, which is why he's perfectly entitled to see the scene however he wants it. Anti-shipping or not.

On topic, I find this ship very nice, I doubt we'll see her again, but.. oh well... ships without the love/hate stuff is nice.

Now that's a clear distortion, and you know it. There's a big difference between standing in his house, and waiting at his house for several days for him to arrive, when you don't even know exactly when he will arrive. You continue to discount things simply because you don't understand the culture. We flogged you on SPPf over this issue. If you want to bring it up again, we can take it outside this topic if you want. I happen to have a surprising amount of free time at the moment, and I would be glad to smack you down once again.

In any case, getting back to the central topic here, which seems to have been a bit derailed....I don't really see AbilityShipping as in conflict with PokéShipping, simply because Satoshi never once showed any inkling of returning the feelings. Hell, Rira even said right at the end "You didn't understand my feelings in the end, did you?"
To me, this isn't proof that the writers are willing to hook Satoshi up with someone. It's just evidence that the writers are slowly opening themselves up to more shipping in general again, and evidence that Satoshi is *still* utterly clueless when it comes to romance, to the point where he's probably going to end up making girls fall in love with him without even realise that what he's doing in friendship could be taken another way. I'm sure Takeshi will come to be annoyed by that, in future, should he ever realise what's going on. ^^;;

I once read a fanfic dealing with that very topic. I wish I could find it again, it was really well written.

Damn, I know the fanfic you mean, but I don't think I've seen it in years.
I *think* Togepretty was the author of the one I'm thinking of...

Just to say something about that, if you say that Misty went to "out of the way lengths" to see him, then you have convinced me that Bouldershipping is canon.

Considering the extreme lengths Brock went through after Johto ended to find Ash again, that is a HELL of a lot more than the writers sticking Misty in Ash's house.

Brock not only ran off to Hoenn to find Ash without him knowing, but he also caught up with May's parents Norman/Caroline and asked them where Ash/May were, (which is how Norman/Caroline knew Brock in the Petalburg Gym episodes, Oak must have told him about May), and Brock rushed off to Petalburg Forest so he could travel with Ash again.

Nice job, you convinced me that Brock has a bigger crush on Ash than Misty does.

As for Misty waiting in Ash's house for "days," was that ever actually said in the show, or are you just making it up? Considering Prof. Oak, Delia, and Misty were all there in about the same room, it sure as hell looked to me like they were expecting him to arrive that day.

So once again, you've convinced me that Prof. Oak has nothing better to do but ignore his work and wait in Ash's house for days for him to return.

Those Misty arguments don't work, considering both Brock and Prof. Oak did the same damn thing she did. I don't want to get into a debate in anything else related to Pokeshipping, just this one issue here has been completely blown out of proportion. Probably because after the writers gave you guys absolutely zero hints in those 3 episodes, you have to cling to Misty standing inside Ash's house in that episode in an act of desperation. Kind of sad, because now it seems Brock and Oak are also trying to get in Ash's pants.

Nice job making a complete strawman of things, and totally ignoring context, like the fact that Takeshi is an established friend, while Kasumi has her established romantic feelings. So, are you going to take this outside this topic, or stop hijacking it?

For the record, yes, it was said. And it was also said that the Prof. was co-incidently visiting at the time. They didn't know exactly when or which day he'd arrive.
