water absorb users?
shed skin? other abilities protecting against burn? fire types can't get burned.
That's kind of the point, Scald constrains teambuilding a lot by its mere existence, besides sending a Fire-type in on a Scald usually isn't a good idea.

Flinch is a one turn effect so it’s fine by me. Burn ruins your attacker for the entire battle. To my knowledge there are no moves with a 30% chance of inflicting freeze or sleep. And if there seem, the moves with high percentage of sleep and freeze are either status moves, low power moves, or ridiculously inaccurate.
Scald has 100% accuracy move with a widespread distribution on one of the best defensive (and offensive thanks to liquidation) Pokémon types.
And that’s not counting how almost every rock and ground pokemon hit super effectively by Scald are physical fighters.

Seems we all agree that just clicking Scald and wait, no matter what situation or turn your on doesn't have any drawbacks.

No one said that burns need to be eliminated.
You’re coming up with ridiculously complicated solutions when we have a simple solution- make Scald's Burn Chance 10% or 20% like other status causing moves. That’s it.

And all those strategies are water type centric, again, which is also an issue when it comes to Scald. It gives an edge to water types and you’re just increasing that gap. There’s literally a simple solution to the issue you seem to not like for some reason.
30% is a wise choice in my opinion.
Remember You got Steam Eruption too...
Water needs it gainst steel types.
Emboar needs it too.
The power I would argue taking Freeze Dry with power 70.

Rather would want more moves and abilities to counter it in future.
Like moves that could disable other moves and have a 30% of doing so?
Abilities to block oponents moves effects or revert them back to the sender?
You know like Magic Bounce kind that way for moves with effects.
We got moves or abilities that can heal user and pass the status ailment or move with such effect to the oponent back?
If not it's a good new niche to explore for moves and abilities.
Interesting would be a pokemon that when burned instead to loose hp would start gaining it and get a extra fire type in return.

I think that outside the box thinking is better then only to reduce something.

ask youself PkmnTrainerV better What other types then fire would You make immune to burn?
or rather to burn from Scald?
it's hot water right?
Ice types should not get burned by it bc it melts something frozen in my opinion.
This way Ice could get something a little in return. To not fear to get burned by Scald.
____
Rock and ground physical attackers, something needs to counter those...
Interesting that we never got one with Dry Skin with one of those before.
Weird that rock and ground types don't get healing moves or abilities that could solve that issue better in future.
___
Hudration and Raindish why do they not react also with other water moves and only when rain? when something gets wet they should activate too in my opinion.

I feel that if the solutions to make competitive battling more bearable with one move existing without a nerf are so overcomplicated that itself is a testimony to how OP the move is.

No. Because Steel cannot do shit to water types offensively. Water is resistant to steel.

And creating 3-4 highly specific counters to a move will still leave the rest of the Pokemon vulnerable to it. Its still going to be overpowered.
If people are forced to specifically counter something, it needs a nerf.

one move ? come on it's not a Gengar with Levitate... taking that three types ground, fire, rock have a problem with it...
Alows water to counter grass and fire resistant foes nicely.

Probability of poisoning, burning and paralyzing are interesting if you compare them more before nerfing anything bc the domino effect could cause then that people would complain that the effects of moves arent activated enough during their respective battles.

This makes me think that they could create more new pokemon that would not get burned at all and resist or be immune to scald...
Many old abilities that reflect weather damage or have magic bounce or magic coat theoretically should make those pokemon immune to get burned or frozen... by such a move.

Also would make Shed Skin work better, give it a 1/2 chance to heal status condition then many pokemon would make it better in such situations.

Scald has more chance to inflict status than Flamethrower, Thunderbolt and Ice beam.

And literally every physical attacker.
it has power 80, chance 30% and 100% accuracy???

but it is much weaker... poison moves and poison status look that up.
Zen Headbut has power 80 and 20% for flinching, and has 90% accuracy... a physical move.
This one should get power 70, 30% for flinching and 95% accuracy.
Taking that Bite has power 60 is dark and has 30% chance of causing flinching.

Steam Eruption has power 110, chance of inlicting 30% and accuracy 95%??? a signature move...
How this is fair?

Physical attacker... Physicall attacker check out the ones with Dry Skin and Water Absorb there are a few...
Theoretically they could make some get Hydration actually.(when smacked with Scald a second time the burn would heal)
If Scald is used so much then why do You not use fast electric attackers?
sunny day teams and Misty terrain?

Rock and ground should theoretically take burn damage slower, 50% of that other pokemon get damage.
That or start counting a turn later other pokemon normally do.

Lets wait and see what they will change/buff with Sparking Aria that heals the burn...

The complaint is that the burn halves a Pokemon's attack, not about the damage it inflicts.

Why the heck should it? Not every move needs a 30% chance for its effect.
Steam Eruption has power 110, chance of inlicting 30% and accuracy 95%??? a signature move...
Exactly-a signature move, not as common as Scald, which can be learned by several Pokemon.
Physical attacker... Physicall attacker check out the ones with Dry Skin and Water Absorb there are a few...
There's only eight Pokemon with either ability that could be considered physical attackers-Araquanid, Seismotoad, Cacturne (whose Special Attack is the same), Quagsire, Lapras (again, same Special Attack), Poliwrath, Parasect, and Toxicroak. And considering Dry Skin Parasect ends up with a 8x weakness, it's not at all viable. So that leaves us with only seven options to counter this. And of those, four are weak to Grass, and three are weak to Flying.

So that means that, with all the physical attackers out there, all you need to deal with them is Scald, a Grass move, and a Flying move. That's still not at all balanced.
sunny day teams
A Sunny Day team would only reduce the power of the move, which doesn't solve the problem of the high burn chance. And Sunny Day tends to benefit Fire-types, who would still be weak to Scald.
and Misty terrain?
Which would require strategies that only use physical attackers on the ground, don't make use of other status effects, and don't use Dragon-type moves.

If Scald is so prevalent that entire types can't be used so that a counter can be put in place, it needs a nerf.
Lets wait and see what they will change/buff with Sparking Aria that heals the burn...
Yes, let's rely on just one Pokemon to help balance Scald, and a starter at that. I'm sure nobody will mind the restriction.

Why are you so fixated in doing all these needlessly complicated changes instead of just... lowering a burning chance?

I'd like to see the PP of Stealth Rock reduced to 5. It's a pretty powerful move with little trade off, would be a fair change imo.

Stealth rock should be able to knock a maximum of 25% of a Pokemon's HP. In the current meta game, being 4x weak to rock is an instant death sentence due to this move.
And more ways to remove stealth rock in general. It needs a huge nerf.

Also, increase the accuracy for Dark Void. The main issue was Smeargle being able to spam it which is now removed, so the accuracy nerf is unnecesssary and hurts Darkrai. Maybe 70 accuracy?

Seismic toss should work like Sky Drop and Heat Crash use weight of both pokemon. The effect beeing in the air would be what we saw in anime Johto Charizard vs Dragonair. All weight moves deserve extra effects of flinching, confusion, disabling moves or immobilize foe for a turn by 30% or the % could also change with power when rising or falling. All weight based moves are to weak in most ocassions to not have extra effects.

I think Hyper Beam type moves should work like how it did in Gen 1. They aren't really worth using online now. That might break them though so idk what I'm talking about for the record.

As in how if it knocks the Pokémon out, the user will not have to recharge?

2-turn moves should really be a thing that needs to die. Make them all 1 turn moves.

Like Fly has no business being a 2-turn move. And most 2-turn moves like Roar of Time and Kyurem-Black and Kyurem-White's sig moves are moves that are limited to 1 Pokémon learnable (And some very, very, very specific events.) so it does no harm to make them 1-turn.

For all I care, give other drawbacks like stat lowering or lower accuracy, but just let 2-turn moves die.

If nerfing stealth rock is what it takes to get Scorbunny to not be Fire/Fighting, then so be it :v Besides, Giga Drednaw's G-Max Move gets the Stealth Rocks effect too which is chilling.

Everything needs a weak spot. It will not be Charizard. Its ability could maybe burn entry hazards on the field the way it run?
