My Sculpture + Sketch fanart...

First colored drawing.
Hey everybody, I just finished my first colored (and cleaned up) drawing. It's Elesa in her B2W2 appearance with her Zebstrika. It's my first attempt at a digital drawing in probably years so it's not my best work, but I just hope to improve over time. By the way, if anyone happens to know a good tutorial on the Web or YouTube about digital shading on Photoshop, I'd greatly appreciate if you let me know.

Hope you like this drawing. I'll be posting a few more.

Edit: I'm kind of a dinosaur in terms of digital drawing. I have just an old computer with an old version of Photoshop (and even that one I don't yet know how to use to its fullest). I have heard about these cutting-edge tablets/ gadgets where one can actually draw with a simulated pencil (kind of a pointer/ stylus thingy) on simulated paper/ canvas. But that's too new for me, plus I don't know how expensive that is.

Maybe I'll look more into this, but chances right now are that I will stick with the older way for now at least. As for painting itself, weirdly enough, I have tried very few times. So few, that I don't remember if I actually have ;). Either way, when it comes to any painting technique I'm no good. I better stick to drawing and sculpting.

Hey everybody, here is my third colored (and cleaned up) sketch/ drawing. It's Karen (one of the Elite Four in the Johto games) with her Umbreon.

For some reason, I think about the Piers battle theme when I watch this drawing... and I rock alongside it.

Hey everybody, here is my fourth colored (and cleaned up) sketch/ drawing. It's Sabrina (as depicted in the Johto games) with her Alakazam.

Sounds weird to say "her Alakazam", since the Mon is probably way smarter than her... than any human for that matter. I have thought lately that very smart Pokemon such as Alakazam or Metagross (basically, most Psychic types) should be convinced to become an ally, rather than be caught. It would sound more logical, but that's me hehe.

Hello, I share my fifth colored sketch. It's Jessie from Team Rocket and her Arbok. My first villanous Poke Girl. The Arbok may look huge here, but according to the official Pokedex entry it is 3.50 m, so it is fair to say it IS huge (well, very long at least), and Jessie looks like a tall woman, but maybe she is around 1.65 to 1.70m at most. Plus, it just looks more intimidating this way :D.

I'm still no good with shadowing, but at least this looks better than the plain colouring.

Oh, these are nice. I love how you colour the hair! Jessie's hair especially is fantastic.

If you're still looking for tutorials, someone I follow recently posted this one which seems like it does an okay job of explaining the basics; if you need something more specific I can probably dig something up.
(Personally my favourite tip for digital shading is to turn off the lineart and flat-colour layers and see whether the shapes/volumes of the picture make sense with only the shading layer visible.)

Thanks a lot, I do admit I don't do such a bad job with the hair.

This could be useful, l'll try it out. Anyways the thing with shadows ia mostly observation I think, especially on how shadows behave on the bodies depending on the point of origin and the prespective. I like Sword and Shield even more because they are programmed in the cel shading style and it's interactive. I'll pay closer attention to the shadowing in the game in a next playthrough.

I think I have seen Jessie's hairstyle before, but I don't know where.

I don't know if it is a real hairstyle, but I based hers on the asymmetric haircuts depicted in the movie Edward Scissorhands. I figured, Jessie's original hair probably looks a bit ridiculous on a more realistic version, so I changed it this way.

Hey everybody, I just finished my sixth sketch. It's Cynthia with her iconic Garchomp. I placed a plus sign aside the dragon logo because I'm aware Cynthia isn't a Dragon type specialist and her team is quite balanced, but her signature Mon is a Dragon type mainly. Its Ground typing is great too. One of my all time fave Mons alongside one of the coolest Poke Girls.

Hey guys, I share my seventh sketch. It's Nessa with her Drednaw. I decided to leave drednaw's size bigger than it actually is, because bigger Mons look cooler to me; this way it also looks like Nessa can actually ride it. Drednaw's real size is kind of underwhelming to be honest (and it looks like it is a mid stage rather than a fully evolved Mon).

Kudos to you. You are seriously talented. It was pretty awesome seeing all your different sculptures and sketches. The extent of my art is drawing stick figures haha. Anyways, keep up the good work!

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate your words. There is still a big room for improvement but I believe it is most about observation and practice.

You are undeniably extremely talented, and your work is amazing!

I really like the artwork of Jessie, that is simply amazing, as for everything else as well.

Thanks a lot. It is always encouraging for an artist to know their work is appreciated. :)

Hey everybody and thanks for the likes and the kind comments. I really do appreciate them and they make me want to keep doing and publishing this art.

Before posting my eighth finished sketch, I wanted to share another part of the WIP of my last drawing. It mostly shows the lineart of one of the characters alongside the main colors, and it still shows a bit of the original sketch (on which I draw the digital version on top). It also shows the same character as depicted in the original art from Pokemon, just for comparison (note: I do not intend that drawing to be the equivalent size of my version; I only use it to match the colors and for some details I might have not added in the pencil sketch; for instance Korrina's right foot).

And here is the final sketch, showing Korrina alongside her Mega Lucario (which IMHO is way cooler and better than the regular one; if this became its regular form, it might become one of my all time faves). I'm trying to incorporate a bit more details to improve the overall sketch but not to the point it is too busy and unpleasant to look at. I might even add more details especially in the background along the line. Hope you guys like it.

Hey everybody, in case anyone is wondering I haven't uploaded new sketches because I have been feeling quite awful the last few days. I won't go into details about this, but I certainly hope this passes soon and I get to do more.

Thanks for understanding.
