POPULAR: Need a Name Thread

I can't say that fic title would catch my eye by itself, even though the little bit of the premise itself you mentioned does sound interesting.
That's a bit what I feared. I do like the idea of having Original in their somewhere, but it does have the tendency to make it sound a bit... bland, in a Pokemon context. Like 'Original Journeys' or something doesn't quite work.

In what context is the term "Original"? Is this the first trainers who used Pokémon, or the first to use them in a controlled, organized manner, such as in the context of the League?

Depending what it is, names like, Pioneer, Progeny, Forerunner, Founder, Inauguration, Lineage or the like may be helpful.

It's the same story I was talking about the day, so they are part of the first people to sign up for the league in Kanto, which is to an extent both of your definitions.

Ace, my advice would be to just do it. It's your story, and ultimately everything in it is entirely up to you anyway. You might as well make it as "you" as it can possibly be.

If the story isn't particularly serious, I think it's cute and clever in a punny sort of way. But if this is more serious, then...yeah, you might want to try something else.

As for myself, I need a name for a Ghost-type trainer who's in an upcoming fic I'm working on. Language/culture of the name doesn't matter too much, and she's an alternative artistic type living in Unova who's engaged/married to the story's Fighting specialist. She's got a brusque, energetic sort of personality, so I'm looking for something that reflects that. Also looking for something more modern (especially given that the other three girls in this story all have somewhat old-fashioned names) and like what a girl who's somewhere around 19-early twenties (about this character's age) would believably have in the far-off year of 201X.

Just so we don't get anything that sounds too similar to any existing names, the other women in this story that have an important role are named Cybele, Marla, and Gwen/Gwendolyn.

Ariel, it means 'Lion of God' and has a brave, bold meaning. It's also the name of a spirit in Shakespeare's "The Tempest", tying into the ghost-type trainer aspect. As for modern times, The Little Mermaid was released 1989.

So I have an upcoming main-ish character that I need a name for. I've come up with four separate names for him so far but none of them stuck, and the only thing I've actually settled on is his surname, Miller. A name that isn't Benjamin, Andrew or Matthew would be great, but I'm having such difficulty figuring out one that sounds nice and is memorable.

If it helps, the character in question is just an average guy, mid 20s, English in ethnicity. He's a bit of an asshole, but he can be a good guy when it suits his needs.

Then there is only name I can think of that fits that character. Guy. If you read DC Comics, Guy Gardner who is I get that from.

Gregory, Marcus (gotta love alliteration), Leroy, Hampton, Oliver

Aaron, Bryce, or if you want something more generic, Scott

I've actually decided on Gregory/Greg already, but thanks for the suggestions!

What nickname would you give to a Cacturne? Nothing overly fancy but nothing as dopey as 'Caccy' or 'Turner' or anything punny-y like that.

I need a name for a cute, warm-coloured flying squirrel/sugar glider/bat species. I came up with skyder, but it sounds too much like spider.

What about Skyler instead?

Brak? Puck? Jack? Those names all sound short and the like the thorns on a cactus. :p
