New Epi Title!

Nah, Ash has had Bulbasaur and Chikorita/Bayleef. And Misty's Water-types and Brock's Rock/Ground-types and later Water-types.

Aack, my memory is so bad I've already forgotten the anime back when Ash didn't ditch his team for an entire new one. He did that with Hoenn and with Sinnoh, and that was all I recalled.

I guess I also should've mentioned I wasn't counting characters that clearly specialize in some types, like Misty and Brock or the Rockets, because the question kind of doesn't apply to them.

But Lapras didn't see much land-fighting. It's novelty was transport first, battling second. But eh.

Didn't Ash also have Cyndaquil and Charizard at the same time, before Charizard was Valley'd?

Charizard left about 10 episodes before Ash caught Cyndaquil.

He did have Charizard along with Pidgeotto/Pidgeot though. Not that Charizard was ever used for Pidgeotto/Pidgeot's purpose before it departed for the Viridian Forest.

Sorry to butt in, but Butterfree was gone before Charizard evolved. (I think even before he had Charmeleon, in fact) Point still taken though.

I meant that he had Pidgeotto/Butterfree at the same time, as well as Pidgeotto/Charizard. I was just too lazy to type out Pidgeotto twice. =P

This may sound idiotic, but I've always thought that Dawn will get a Pokemon for each of the Contest types:

Piplup : Tough (or Cool)
Buneary : Beauty
Pachirisu : Cute
Buizel (if caught) : Cool (or Tough)
??? : Smart

Meh, I'm probably wrong, but that's what I'm thinking right now. I'll know later on the series.

They sort of loosely followed that with May's Blaziken (Cool), Beautifly (Beauty), Bulbasaur (Smart), Munchlax (Tough), and Skitty (Cute) - but it was never very overt.

That's what baffles me about the Pokemon fandom. You guys complain that the anime does the same thing over and over, but then when they actually do something DIFFERENT for once, (i.e. introducing female videogame heroines with plot driven story arcs, or giving a character an unexpected capture, etc.) you guys complain anyway.

Heck yeah.

Scott's right...not about BMG, but alot of fans I do see whine about the show never changing, and then their following arguement is along the lines of "they should've kept Misty/kept Charizard/kept Tracey!"

There's still people arguing about Buizel over at SPP, which is what I was talking about before. I just hope this is an indication that the writers are going to shake up Ash's team this gen, because although he got yet another grass and flying type for the fourth time in a row, at least he may not get another fire/water type this time.

Dawn getting Buizel doesn't matter as much because she's a coordinator and the fact that it'll probably be dumped from her team anyway after Shinou ends. (Assuming Dawn doesn't get dumped herself and we get another short Battle Frontier-esque season after Shinou)

Yeah, I don't think the anime has ever made this distinction between Contest types. I assume its because the writers didn't want to be bogged down by giving May or Dawn only select Pokemon instead of leaving the boundries behind and being free to give them whatever they want.

Sad but true.

Would this qualify, Fabuvinny?

Misty just plain 'ole rulez them all..

may is just a sad replacement for Pokemon's best female character: Misty

You know its depressing when even webmasters in a fandom can't put their bias aside and enjoy the characters for themselves rather than whining.

Amazing what you can find in this fandom, huh? :D

It's also pretty depressing when a user's personal bias causes him to change every topic into a debate.

Let me tell you, I'll be very depressed if you don't return my collection of Haruka porn. ~_^
