Rules New Forum Rules (updated May 19 2011)

Re: New Forum Rules (as of Feb 16, 2011)

Could you be more clear, here? Would images showing a pre-op trans woman's nipples be unacceptable? I'm assuming images of a pre-op trans man's would be okay since they belong to a man, but I'm just wondering.
I will consult with my Rule Director on how we can better clarify things.

But, I believe that if the breasts are "female" in nature, or are to be perceived as female breasts, then no nipples can be shown.

Can I ask why, and what's so offensive about female-assigned people's breasts that is not offensive about male-assigned people's breasts?

(Not looking to post pixxx of my own tits, just wondering here because I've never found a decent, non-misogynistic answer to this.)

It's just the way America works...

If it looks like a female nipple, then for the purpose of this rule it is a female nipple. American society, for whatever prudish and rather less than intelligent reason, has decreed that female nipples are incredibly offensive, and since we'd like American kids to not be booted off the site by their parents, we ask that such images not be posted.

As for the distinction, when one says "female nipple", it refer to what the nipple actually look like, not the actual gender of the nipple's owner. Basically, if you post a picture that shows a person with naked chest, then either that person should have a flat chest with barely visible nipples, or else no nipple at all.

So basically any nipples that would look unusually large for a man's? (Not that I'd ever come even close to abusing this rule in the first place...)

Re: New Forum Rules (as of Feb 16, 2011)

The primary criteria is "how likely are people to think this is actually a girl with her nipples bare". Hence why appearance, not gender identity, is what we're concerned about.

A man with large nipples...if he's got man-boobs, and a hairless chest, and large nipples, we're much more likely to get annoyed than with someone who has large nipples on a flat chest with chest hair. Basically, try to exercise common sense, and ask yourself what people are likely to think of the picture.

For borderline issues, we're more likely to issue a warning or to tell you than we are to infract, unless we feel you should actually know better.

People, I would like to be enlightened in this issue: Do one word posts = pointless posts?

Re: New Forum Rules (as of Feb 16, 2011)

Shiny Celebi is part right, part wrong. It depends on the circumstances.

In some threads or forums, you will be asked to give arguments to support your position. IN those cases, one word posts are pointless.

In other threads, you won't be asked. Then saying "THIS!" after quoting someone else's post, to manifest approval, likely won't be considered pointless.

We do not have a one-way, absolute ban on one-word posts.

That figures that it varies with each thread...

Still, I'm the kind of person that if someone gives me an answer, I'd like for them to explain to me why they answered that way, so if I were to make such a thread & someone only gives a one-word response, I'm free to report them.

Guess that's it for now...

Re: New Forum Rules (as of Feb 16, 2011)

Rather than report them, you're free to ask them to elaborate.

Re: New Forum Rules (as of Feb 16, 2011)

Agreed with SaturnYoshi - asking them to elaborate is probably the best thing to do.

Note that if someone has quoted someone else's long post to say they agree, probably that means they agree with all the arguments in the long post, and think the other poster said it well, so they don't really need to elaborate.

Re: New Forum Rules (as of Feb 16, 2011)

For double-posting, are "bumps" allowed? If I started a thread, and no one posted in it and it's already a few pages back, would that be OK?

Re: New Forum Rules (as of Feb 16, 2011)

No, that would be considered pointless.

Re: New Forum Rules (as of Feb 16, 2011)

Are there any specific rules for social groups? Other than offensive content?

For example, off-topic, spamming, etc.; what's the limit? Is it as strict as forum posting, or much more lax? I can't seem to find a thread for social group rules.

I would like to know the rules so I know my limits.

Re: New Forum Rules (as of Feb 16, 2011)

Posting etiquette is slightly different in the groups in that you don't need to worry about double posts or 'bumps' or anything like that. But you still must operate within rules customary to how you treat other posters when you're over there though. That part doesn't change.

In general, try to respect the wishes of the group owner and try not to invite material into a topic that would otherwise inflame the audience and you'll be fine.

We also have a specific rule that no 'Team' like groups are to be formed.

These are groups that take on the appearance of a structured hierarchy with a leader and members that engage in aggressive behavior and antagonize other social groups. It's very specific, but we had a problem with these types of groups in the past.

This is different than team groups whose purpose is to create competitive battle teams through the pokemon games and hold friendly matches with others. Those are allowed.

If you're ever in any doubt, you can feel free to come to me, $aturn¥oshi or Ghost about issues in there. Or if possible, you can always report.

Re: New Forum Rules (as of Feb 16, 2011)

This was probably asked in some way already, but just so I'm sure:

Am I allowed to advertise other forums in my signature? Whether it's just in text or it's a link to the forum i'm advertising?

I already did that in my sig, but now I just want to be sure if I am allowed or not.

Yes, you are allowed to advertise in your signature (as well as in your blog).

Re: New Forum Rules (as of Feb 16, 2011)

Allowing avatars of breasts even with nipples blacked out or blocked seems a bit questionable to me. Think about it, this forum has members under the age of 18 and I am quite sure their parents would not want them seeing stuff like that and would ground them or keep them from visiting these forums again by blocking it in software or by other means. Allowing this means having the same restrictions a pornographic website would have in terms of being 18 or older to register or view anything. I think clevage is ok for avatars to an extent but not bare exposed breasts even if no nipples are shown.

Re: New Forum Rules (as of Feb 16, 2011)

I feel I must disagree. So long as the nipple is covered it is legal to show as much breast as you want. Breasts are a natural part of the female (and in some cases male) body and frankly there's nothing wrong with spending some time having fun with that. We're not using anything pornographic. The avatars are fine, every last one of them. At least, from my point of view.
