This thread's purpose is to gather new ideas on how the oooold gym challenge can be freshened up in the games.

I suggest that the maximum of eight gyms per region rule should be abolished and create more than just eight gyms, giving us the freedom to tackle them in a random order with the gym teams adapting to certains levels linked to the character progression and time of facing them.

The gyms should stop being monotype only. This would perhaps create more challenge while breaking the gym leaders as stereotypes for only certain types, like Ramos being a gardener and Grant a climber.

Each gym should function as such by allowing the player character, before and/or after defeating the leader, to practice with the gym's Pkmn and trainers in order to get to know the types, explore strategies or just level up and raise certain Pkmn. If keeping with monotyped gyms, then allow the option for the player to being tutored by a gym leader to take his/her place and having the option to customise a gym instead of just a secret base.

Gym leaders should be more part of the community they live in and not just by telling it but by showing it. Gym leaders should appear outside of the gym before and after defeating them and being part of a bigger quest system that is not linked to simply getting a badge or making the leader go back to the gym to be battled.

Last but not least, let them be rebattled as many times as we want!
