Isshu is based off of America, you know. It's not impossible for them to include a single English pun.
Yeah, and I'm sure they've done it before too, or at least blatantly used an actual English word.

They have already done this multiple times, mostly in the early days.

Spear, Sand, Freezer, Thunder, Coil, Ghost, Crab, Lucky, Happines etc.

Re: Confirmed New Pokémon Discussion

I'm not sure if this has already come up, but is anyone else disappointed that Zorua evolves into Zoroark just by level up? Wasn't it said back when Zorua and Zoroark were the only known Gen V Pokemon that they evolved based on a brand new evolutionary method?

Here. I found one example of when it was said on Pokebeach based on a March issue CoroCoro scan:

PokéBeach.com said:
Wednesday, February 10th, 2010 - Update (2:30 PM) - The CoroCoro page also mentions that a new method of evolution may be involved for evolving Zorua into Zoroark. The page asks, "Could we see a new method of evolution!?" Thanks goes to DorianBlack for catching this overlooked detail. What could it mean?

What ever happened to that? Were they just messing with us when they said they "may" have a new evolutionary method, or did they just change their mind, or what? I know it's not a big deal, but after mentioning the possible new evolution method back in February, not speaking of it ever again after that, then having to wait until the game came out 7 months later only to find out it's just the common level up evolution, it's kinda annoying, not to mention disappointing.

I'm sure it was speculation on CoroCoro's part. Notice how they ask if there'll be a new method.

Re: Confirmed New Pokémon Discussion

I know somebody has to have asked this before, but why aren't some Pokemon in Isshu listed as OBVIOUS (atleast to me) evolutions to older Pokemon? Tauros & Buffalon look way too similar not to be related atleast. Same goes for Luvdisc & Mamanbou.

for the love of all that is holy

We all know they look like older Pokemon

the designers even said they based some on older Pokemon

but they are not related...

Re: Confirmed New Pokémon Discussion

After talking to many people, they have agreed that Shinpora destroys. Am I right?

Also for people who have not evolved their Pokabu on time and didn't really train their grass monkey, good luck facing a harden SPAM Dangoro lol.

I don't even think Tauros and Buffalon look that alike.

Luvdisc and Mamanbo, I can see the resemblance though. They could have made Mamanbo a different shade of pink xD

Taurus and Buffalon and Luvdisc and Mamanbou are probably related in the real-life sense of evolution (speciation) instead of the Pokemon version (magical metamorphosis).

Re: Confirmed New Pokémon Discussion

I haven't been here in a while because I've been playing the game and dealing with my birthday being tommorow, but out of everything, the new pokes, the 3d, the setting, the evil team, the music, the freinds, the gym leaders, the gyms, the moving sprites, and the story, I can still sum this all up in 3 words...

BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!!

Some Pokemon are surprisingly small, look at the size comparison of Genosect and Sazandra, though I wonder whether the tail hanging is really taken into account.

Either way, Sazandra is small and seems much less threatening.

I'm almost the size of Ononox :/

Re: Confirmed New Pokémon Discussion

Yeah, this reminds me of the early Generations where many of the Pokemon were oddly tiny and/or light. Gen III and IV made them a bit heavier, but most of the Pokemon are WAYYY lighter than the animals they're based off of...even if it makes no sense, like with Rhyhorn. Snorlax was the heaviest Gen I Pokemon, yet most real-life animals, such as cows, weigh more than it.

Well, the way the sprites were resized, they go from the frame. Take Rayquaza for example, I'm sure its size isn't measured from it coiled up, but from noise to tail, and that is certainly much longer than 4 times the PC's size (I think the game is also weird like this)

Sazandra's pre-evolution would also be larger if it was measured head-to-tail, so I assume it was from foot to head. I'm guessing that's how Sazandra should be measured too.

Even the box legendaries seem to be on a small side compared to previous generations.

On the other hand, Gorog being approximately nine feet is good. I thought it should be a big Pokemon, but not too big.

Sazandra's actually not so threatening in my head anymore. Yeah, it has three heads, but only one has a brain which means they aren't nearly as freaky. Yeah, head-hands. How's that different from just being torn apart with regular claws?

Re: Confirmed New Pokémon Discussion

I must say that I'm liking all of the new Gen V Pokémon. At first I thought a few were 'meh', but they've grown on me. I'm really looking forward to Black and White coming out in Australia.

For whatever reason, Aiantos Dream World ability is Truant. For those of you who forgot, thats the same hindering ability Slaking has. So why on earth does Aianto have it? Is it supposed to be a joke?

Apparantely, Aianto learns a move that makes the target's ability the same as that as the user. I think that's why it gets Truant in the Dream World - it can make the opponent's Pokémon have Truant.

EDIT: I didn't see that someone had already replied to that question.

Wow, I just lost an incredible amount of respect for Ononox and Sazando. Why are they so small?

Well, the way the sprites were resized, they go from the frame. Take Rayquaza for example, I'm sure its size isn't measured from it coiled up, but from nose to tail, and that is certainly much longer than 4 times the PC's size (I think the game is also weird like this)

Perhaps the height is measured by when Rayquaza is coiled up? That would make it at least 12 m long in actuality, which is how I portray it in my fanfic. (At least as an adult... the really young ones are pretty short.)

But really, the measurements are unrealistic as it is. A Wailord can be expected to weigh at least three or four tons, being the 14-metre-long beast it is, but according to the game, it weighs a mere 398 kg, which is more like the weight of a bottlenose dolphin.

Same with Groudon. You'd expect it to weigh a lot more than a paltry 950 kg, it being the size it is.

Sazandra's pre-evolution would also be larger if it was measured head-to-tail, so I assume it was from foot to head. I'm guessing that's how Sazandra should be measured too.

Good to see that somebody else calls it that too. XD

I'd have liked for it to be measured from head to tail. Because the body structure has obviously changed, you know. So the measurement method would have also changed.

Even the box legendaries seem to be on a small side compared to previous generations.

No kidding. When I predicted their heights, they were much smaller than I thought they were.

I predicted that they were around 4.5 m; they were only about 60% that.

But, of course, I made them too light - I said that Reshiram was 283.0 kg, for example.

Sazandra's actually not so threatening in my head anymore. Yeah, it has three heads, but only one has a brain which means they aren't nearly as freaky. Yeah, head-hands. How's that different from just being torn apart with regular claws?

By the fact that the heads are biting you apart? I dunno.

Also, it's a joke between Pika and me that they're actually sock puppets. So you're actually being bitten apart by puppets.

Still, I don't see why Sazandra isn't threatening if it isn't a little bigger. If we're measuring 1.8 m from head to tail, that's still about as tall as the average person. I like my pokies small and sleek ^_^

Same goes with Ononokus/Ononoxe. (Oh, it's also 1.8 m? Coincidence much!)

Well, think of Ononox like a raptor or something, the smaller you are, the easier it is to target weaker areas of the opponent,or sneak over without being seen and strike

1.8 m isn't small.

And I don't see what kind of dexterity those giant axes of a tusk would have.
