Okay, I think we're starting to stretch the point of this thread to far. I admire the fact you guys are debating improvements of old pokemon and whatnot based on new Pokemon (I think :) ) but you should probably got to Video Games and make your own thread there. Or find one that already exists.

I wonder why it matters that every Pokémon is "useful" in battles. It's just expected there'll be divergences in Stats, unless every Pokémon becomes Arceus.

Plus, after 4th Gen, all of them have a great deal of usability. Whether people can be bothered to use them well or not, it's their problem. Much like National Pokédex numbers and old cries, Base Stats are never going to change unless a very in-depth change to the game system comes. Even then, I doubt the niches will change much.

Simple. Buffaron and Tauros are similar animals who live in the analogues for New York and Japan. They are similar because similar animals live all over the world, but often you can only find a specific species in one location.

I don't see what you're getting at. Are you complaining the new Pokémon are too similar? That all makes sense. Those new Pokémon that are so similar to the old ones are supposed to be Isshu analogs to the Kanto / Johto / Hoenn / Sinnoh Pokémon. Much like in real life there are animals deeply similar to each other living on the other side of the world from each other.

All of the sprites I've seen so far DEFINITELY have more than two frames (even Shedinja!). I'm noticing a lot of people saying some Pokemon have only two frames, so I'd like to clear something up: A frame is a single image that makes up one part of an animation. Say you have a notebook and you draw a picture on each page so that you can then flip the pages to create an animation. Each page, then, is one frame, even if two pages are very similar. The sprites in Emerald, for example, have only two frames each, simply repeated with varying delays, discounting the movement of said sprites (for instance, Pidgeot's spinning sprite). If these sprites had only two frames the movement would be INSANELY blocky and unrealistic. Not all of the sprites have extra movement besides their idling animation. I think it's enough that they animated them at ALL, personally. o:

Hopefully that clears some things up about the animations for some people, though! <3

I was just thinking....

Chobomaki really should have been Bug/Steel type then it loses it's steel typing when Kapurumo steals it's shell and evolves into the pure Bug Type Agirudaa. So Bug/Steel evolving into Pure bug.

Whereas for Kapurumo it would be the opposite. Pure bug evolving into Bug/Steel

They probably thought they had too many Bug/Steels though and decided to take a chance leaving it off.

Complaining? No. Please don't infer more than what I'm stating. Yes, they do look alike. That's a fact. But I'm not complaining about anything at all. I like the new pokemon very much actually. The Only thing I really don't like about this generation is Jaroda's stat distribution and its design is a drop off from its previous 2 evolutions... So as for 'I don't see what you're getting at', It's just a list of pokes with similar designs. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't see anyting negative.

PS. Jaroda, The final form starter that has the same Special Attack as Oddish. Oh gamefreak... Why do you hate these starter so? To curse them with these stats and typing... Daikenki is the only decent rounded stated starter. And for god sakes. If people didn't like Infernape for outclassing Blaziken, How are they going to like Emboar for being a step below Blaziken? I do enjoy its design more than I thought I would.

I'm glad someone finally said this. /D

@Jabberjaw;

I am not one that is competitive, but, Even if the Starter families don't have the best stats, You can always admire them for their designs. Which is Why I don't care when someone is a dick and tries to point out that Jaroda's family has sucky stats just cause they don't like the Pokemon. I still enjoy it as a Pokemon, even if it's not the best choice for a grass Pokemon I can have.

I just wanted to share my thoughts on that, hope I'm not a bother.

Will people shut up about Smuglords weak attack stats? Its attacking stats arnt terrible, theyre just below average. This thing will work absolutely fine in-game, it has enough to work with. Competitively it can be a sweeper with a Perversity Leaf Storm/Hidden Power set. Stats dont determine everything, you know.

I know. Which is why I refuse to stop liking it :(

I'm not trying to be a 'dick', I'm voicing my disappointment because the pokemon is the 2nd best designed grass starter IMO and they decided to do what they did. Even tho I said Jaroda is a 'drop off' from its previous 2 evos in terms of design, I still like the guy. I'm disappointed gamefreak didn't give him a descent attack stat. But hey that's me.

And IF your entire post was pointed in my direction... 'just cause they don't like the pokemon'

Please don't infer. I think he could be improved but I never said I don't like the pokemon. Maybe your post was more of a generalization of what alot of other people are saying, but I'm not 'alot of other people' and my opinions are MY opinions.

It's true though, Jaroda's stats are pretty bad, and this is coming from a fan of Jaroda. Stats aren't everything though. GF could easily have made up for it's horrible stat distribution with an excellent typing and wide movepool. Of course, they didn't. Jaroda's stuck with the crappy mono-Grass typing and a movepool so shallow it makes Meganium's look like Arceus'. So yeah, Jaroda got really screwed over by GF, that's sort of a fact.

It's not as good a wall as Meganium and it's not a good sweeper like Sceptile. Venusaur has much better typing and Special stats whereas Torterra has unique typing and Physical stats. Jaroda is, quite frankly, the worst of the Grass Starters.

Does this mean I stop liking it? No. It's still one of my favorite Pokemon, but the fact remains that GF royally screwed it over.
