I like the fact that people are forgetting that Jaroda has Perversity which reverses Leaf Storm's effect of Sp. Atk lowering and is arguably one of the best users of Leech Seed out there, because it has the speed and defense to abuse it along with Taunt and Glare for extra annoyance.

I like the fact that you assume people are forgetting about it's pros. I know what Jaroda can do, thank you very much. He's not a useless Pokemon and he does fill certain niches within competitive battling.

That said, it still doesn't change the fact that Jaroda's stat distribution, movepool and typing really screwed it over.

Perversity's great, but coming off a Base 65 Attack stat and relying on a move with horrible coverage is really not the be all, end all ability it could be. Add to that the fact that Jaroda's special movepool consists mainly of Leaf Storm, Hidden Power and Wring Out, and you got yourself one mediocre sweeper at the very best.

And it can Leech Seed, big deal. Venusaur and Roserade can Leech Seed better because their Poison typing gives them a stron STAB against the only type immune to Leech Seed (Grass). Sceptile is a faster Leech Seeder with a better movepool and offensive stats. Meganium is bulkier and can stall things out better due to a more reliable recovery move. Then you got Legendaries like Celebi and Shaymin (better overall stats), Shaymin-S (better Speed and a STAB that takes out Grass types) and Brijion. Oh, and don't forget Erufuun and Jumpluff. In point of fact, Jaroda's not the only SubSeeder in the world, nor is he the best. He's one of the best, but not the best.

Basically, this means it can Taunt and Glare (which is nowhere near as broken as Sleep and therefore an inferior status option to Sleep Powder and Spore, moves that many useful Grass types have. Examples include Venusaur, Roserade, Breloom, Parasect, Vileplume, Exeggutor, etc.)

I'm not trying to be a 'dick', I'm voicing my disappointment because the pokemon is the 2nd best designed grass starter IMO and they decided to do what they did. Even tho I said Jaroda is a 'drop off' from its previous 2 evos in terms of design, I still like the guy. I'm disappointed gamefreak didn't give him a descent attack stat. But hey that's me.

And IF your entire post was pointed in my direction... 'just cause they don't like the pokemon'

Please don't infer. I think he could be improved but I never said I don't like the pokemon. Maybe your post was more of a generalization of what alot of other people are saying, but I'm not 'alot of other people' and my opinions are MY opinions.

Huh? I wasn't calling you a dick or anything like that. I was referring to other people who just downright don't like Jaroda and just talk about it's stats being bad. I was just adding to what I thought, I wasn't really talking about you, but what I've seen in general. I just wanted to add in to what you were saying, not really respond to you directly. I have no problems with your opinions, I just wanted to chime in.

I really wonder what happened with the starters stats though.

If we could keep the bickering to a minimum, that'd be much appreciated.

You forgot Energy-Ball, Grass-Knot, and a capella...

Energy-Ball is a great attack (80BP) Grass-Knot can take Larger pokemon. And a capella's power increases with every pokemon that has the move (Imagine 6 pokemon with that move plus Pervesity Inhanced SATK it'll do a lot of damage) MAking ut pretty dangerous. Just have Energy-Ball and a capella on a Perversity Jaroda along with rest to restore Jaroda's health

Plus he said one of the best... and Legendaries shouldn't count as m,ost of them are uber

Some of the pokemon are stoopid!!!!!!! i mean an ice cream pokemon reallly

An ice cream Pokemon is relatively ordinary compared to some other Pokemon, both new and from past generations.

Personally, I love the concept of an ice cream Pokemon. I just don't love the execution.

My bad=) you put @ jabberjaw at the top. Yeah... they gave some pokemon outright awesome stats... I never thought Id see hihi with 140 attack and 95 speed... even with low defenses it had high HP.. Why didn't they get the guy that stated hihi to stat the starters lol.

No need to be sorry, it's simply your opinion. At least you like the other Ice-types.

Exactly. There were some good ideas poorly executed. Examples:

An electric/ground Ray pokemon? Lets see it!... Oh... Uggo....

A fire/Bug! Finally Its gotta look Bad Aa!... Meh it looks ok... But I wanted more.

These 3 monkey pokemon evolve! Sweet! They all look pretty cool so I'm sure they evolve into!... huh? What are those 3 things? dang...

And the final form of the dog... I just with they didn't make it slightly obese. Icecream... I'm not sure how they could have improved the design too much but there is room for improvement.

But listen, there are so many great pokemon this generation it MORE than balances out the... not-so-good ones. Personally, these fossils are my favorite fossils yet.

Also... I was hoping to get an Origin Form Mewtwo this gen... Wearing it's metallic helmet and gadgets... With maybe 60 attack power moved to SpA AND Speed... or Atleast a dream world Mewtwo with Wondergaurd...

my understanding of perversity is that it will only reverse the negative secondary effects.

with Leaf Storm it reverse the 2nd effect of lowering the SpA to Increasing the SpA. Neither Energy Ball or Grass Knot have any negatives effects for it to reverse.

Haven't Kyogre, Wobbuffet and Deoxys broken the metagame enough? :p

my understanding of perversity is that it will only reverse the negative secondary effects.

It reverses stat changes, more specifically. But it also turns positive effects into negative effects. For example, Calm Mind will end up decreasing your Special Attack and Special Defense rather than raising it. A Pokemon using Swagger on Jaroda would both decrease its Attack and confuse it.

In the case of Wobbuffet and Defense Forme Deoxys, just the Singles metagame.

Speaking of Mewtwo, with the help of its new signature move Psycho Break it's going to be again one of the most respectable fighters in the Super Legendary/Über metagame: Psycho Break is the answer to a mixed sweeper set without resorting to use Selfdestruct (which was nerfed in Black and White), Focus Punch or EV investment in Attack.

You know, about Maggyo, who looks really strange body-wise, I found the animal that most resembles Maggyo, appearance and characteristic-wise. Let me introduce you to the stargazer fish:

stargazer1.jpg

may2006_23_stargazer.jpg

Description
"Stargazers possess a large upward-facing mouth in an equally large head and have their eyes on the top of their heads, giving them their name. Their usual habit is to bury themselves in sand, and leap upwards to ambush prey that passes overhead. Some species have a worm-shaped lure growing out of the floor of the mouth, which they can wiggle to attract prey’s attention. Electric Stargazers possess their electric organ behind each of their eyes that is capable of generating up to 50 volts of electricity which is more than sufficient to stun or kills its prey." (Text copied from a Smogon forum)

As you can see, this animal's mouth and eyes are on the top of its head, like Maggyo, and not to mention even Maggyo is even cuter than the real animal! From the description, it is clear where the Ground and Electric types were inspired from, not to mention the abilities. Static is obvious, with the stunning of the prey, Sand Veil (a Dream World ability) can be seen too, with it hiding in the sand and stuff, but Limber, I am not sure. (For those who dissed a Ground Pokemon for having this ability, remember that Stun Spore and Glare still exists, not that the ability would have a universal use anyway)

Yes, psycho break is the most diabolic thing they could have given Mewtwo. Mewtwo has set a new bar for itself. I'm suprised they haven't Nasty Plotted the thing yet. Who could come up with a nastier plot than... MEWTWO! well... Hypno... but that thing looks like a rapist.

Limber also prevents paralysis from things like a Pokémon with Synchronize, Effect Spore and of course the aforementioned Static.
