Re: Gen V Starter Discussion

They wouldn't use Combustoar since they've used that somewhat with Torchic's evolution.

Re: Gen V Starter Discussion

A water bear type would be very intriguing, but whenever I hear that, I think tardigrade (aka waterbears).

I think that if we get that mermaid I won't shut up about, it would be dual typed fighting for its final evo. Not sure 'bout the other two, tthough.

Re: Gen V Starter Discussion

Now I'm quite set on the starters being a swan, donkey, and tiger. I at least want the swan and ass.

Re: Gen V Starter Discussion

@envoy: Well, if you look at the tail of the left starter, it also resembles a fish tail, and I don't think it's a bird, because the head shape is too hydrodynamic if the face is on the round part.

@Flannery's Man: Doubt it'll happen, they just don't look like them that much.

@somari: I never noticed the nidorans were rabbits till you pointed it out. Good eye.

Anyway, I only have 6 hours to sleep. G'night, all.

Notice that my comment assumed the left silhouette was the Grass Starter, I said nothing about if it was a Water Starter (in which case I really don't see a mermaid happening regardless.)

I've speculated that the left one is some reptilian bird for awhile, but the only problem is that I don't know what it would look like. Is there any reptilian birds that anyone is familiar with? :flinch:

Exactly my point, you assumed it was grass type and a bird, but you also could assume it was just about anything you wanted it to be. I'm not trying to start a debate or make you prove anything, just wanted to throw that out there, is all.

Considering that a widely popular theory is that birds are descendants of dinosaurs, it really wouldn't be a stretch to combine the two into one Pokemon.

I never denied that it could be a Water Starter, I just happen to be looking at it from the perspective of a Grass Starter at the moment. I have no real effing clue what type it will be honestly.

I love that idea!:crush: But then again we may get screwed over and it turns out to be just another reptile.

Meet archaeopteryx
Archaeopteryx.jpg

Archaeopteryx lived during the Late Jurassic Period around 150–145 million years ago, in what is now southern Germany during a time when Europe was an archipelago of islands in a shallow warm tropical sea, much closer to the equator than it is now.

Similar in size and shape to a European Magpie, Archaeopteryx could grow to about 0.5 metres (1.6 ft) in length.

It's been a slow eventless day, so I painted up my ideas this time

starters.jpg

I kept Mapallard (though changed him a bit)
and I switched the types of the other two, they are Fire/Ground and Water/Ice...
I suppose the names are Lavog (Lava Hog) and Polarake (Polar (Bear) Lake)

I can see them making that into a Pokemon. Though, that picture kinda scares me, it looks like it's about to go "CAW!!!!" at me.

You're getting to attached to the idea that Pokemon look exactly like their real world counterparts. It CAN be a water swan, the left one. Because, frankly, it resembles a bird. The middle CAN be a grass donkey, because, frankly, it sort of resembles one. Same with the tiger. We don't have the art yet. It could be anything. :)

Hell yes. It strikes me more as a final Evo of a starter actually, though obviously it would need to be scaled up.
