NEW POKEMON! (From a Japanese Magzine!)

Because Colloseum and XD would've had to have something that recognized D/P.

Couldn't they just whip up something for Battle Revolution that could read the XD and Colloseum save files and alter them so that the Pokemon was transfered over?

Yes, that is plausible, but the websites wording makes it seem like DP can link up to Col. and XD. directly.

Pocchama (Water Starter) is the Penguin Pokemon. It is pure Water, with Torrent as its ability. His name is a combination of "pocchan" and "shamo," which means "rookie fighting bird." Perhaps it will be a Water and Fighting Pokemon in its final evolution?

Is this true? I don't think the chama in Pocchama indicates a fighting type, as the Shamo thing was Torchic's deal.

I can't locate Pocchan in my Japanese dictionary, best match I get is Pocha which means "splash water; dabble in water" or "plump; chubby". Shamo means fowl - though I think that's a dubious link here.

I could be wrong about Pocchan, but I don't think it's meant to be rookie fighting bird at all.

Where is this quote from?

Incidentally, Naetle's name is derived from sapling and turtle, while the "Hiko" Hikozaru's name appears to be derived from juvenile delinquent - can't find anything for Zaru or any similar strings based around it.

That Pocha makes sense, as it is a chubby bird that is water.

WPM posted the thing I quoted on his site.....-_-

EDIT: I believe Zaru has something to do with ape, as it is in Primeape's japanese name and the Ape's in DBZ are like "Ookizaru"

Yes. It comes from saru, which means monkey/ape.

Didn't think of replacing the z with an 's'...

>_>
I don't know why they do it, but sometimes when they combine words they change the beginning sound of the second word.

Examples:
saru -> Hikozaru
hito -> yumemibito
hana -> ikebana
tsuki -> mikazuki

It's actually a serious topic of research in Japanese linguistics. The phenomenon is called [wp]rendaku[/wp]. One theory holds that it comes from a contraction of compounds of the form 〜ん〜, which is in turn a contraction of 〜の〜.
