New Super Smash Brothers Brawl Site...

I'm glad his Egg Toss now actually works to help him fly in the air. The lack of a good up A move was the thing that made him nearly unuseable to me, despite him being one of my favorite characters - his moveset and handling just never clicked for me like every other character's.

Yeah, I never liked playing as Yoshi in either Smash Bros. Something about his moveset just wasn't fun to use. Hopefully he has some better moves this time.

If I were the designers, I'd extend the reach of his tongue attacks to really make him useful. It really should stretch longer and be more effective. The only thing he's useful for are his aerial kicks. On the ground, he has no heavy hitting attacks. And he also lacks any precise long-distance attacks. Making him such a specialist character, he's really not worth playing with.

Aww, you guys mean to tell me you never used Yoshi's spike headbutt?
That's the move I loved most about Yoshi. That and the surprise tail-swipe.

Yoshi could pwn faces when played with those attacks in mind.

I actually meant on this thread not the Smash Bros one so I was checking you all knew he existed.

The Kid Icarus stage, Skyworld, has been revealed. It's got destructable platforms so it appears that Yoshi is going that egg toss jump. As will all the other characters need their super jumps.

At first I thought Skyworld was too similar to the Bridge of Eldin but the more I think about it the more I see the differences.

It looks like all sections of the ground can be destroyed which could lead to some interesting strategies.

Especially with the new move thats been revealed. The Footstool Jump. Basically you jump onto someone's head and then hit jump again to launch yourself off like a springboard. Apparently it can be used for meteor smashes. (Which would be particularly useful in the Skyworld stage) Also I imagine it can be used to save your skin when to people fall of the stage in the same place. The number of friendships that will be broken due to one bouncing off the other to save thier skin will be huge.

hopefully this move can stop edge hogging (one of the things I hated the most in melee.)

The Yoshi screenshot made it seem like larger characters can literally be ridden on by smaller ones - with Yoshi seeming to ride on DK.

Perhaps, but it could also be something in between DK carrying Yoshi and then letting him go. The screenshot does make what you said seem possible though.

looking at the pictures from the toadstool jump...I think it is just that...

I don't think every character will have the "cartoon physics" squash-stretch jump animation that wario has. (characters like Snake/Link/etc it will just look wrong on for example.)

if you look at it closely DK does look in pain.

A new assist trophy has been revealed in the form of Knuckle Joe, from the Kirby Series. He appears to be very strong blasting his enemies with a massive burst of Vulcan Jabs followed by either a Smash Punch or a Rising Break.

As for Yoshi riding DK, it's a possibility, but I doubt it because if you look at the second pic ot the footstool jump and compare it to the pic of Yoshi on DK you will notice that Yoshi is in basically the same position only bent over slightly more, meaning that he is about to jump off and is further through the move than on Wario. Which is a pity, riding other characters owuld have been fun.

As for what Shaded Spriter said, I agree not everyone will have the cartoon physics. DK is one of these due to his size. As you can only jump on one part of him you can't get the same effect. In this shot Yosdhi is jumping on the lower back which is blocked by DK's shoulders so you can't see what's happening. But it being a footstool jump I imagine it has been forced to the ground in a slump.

I drool for this game. I still play SSBM, and learning that SSBB will have the option to play with the gamecube controller gives me all the more reason to take out my impatience on SSBM's Hard modes...

I heard a rumor that Young Link will be replaced by cel-shaded Link. Given the major success of Phantom Hourglass in Japan, I think it's plausible. And I really hope it's true!

I still can't believe Snake will be playable. xD

That's not so much a replacement as a graphic change. The basis on adult Link has moved from Ocarina of Time to Twilight Princess so a cel-shaded Young Link is definately plausible.

yeah... welcome to last year, bub.

I kinda expected them to use the Sports-game Yoshi, as I think it looks better for a fighting game then the more elongated one used in the previous games, and this seems kinda like "the Yoshi" instead of "a Yoshi".

They need those baby abductors from Yoshi's Island in this as ATs.

Ugh. I wish they would just announce which playable character will be coming from Animal Crossing. I'm not sure if I'd prefer it to be a character, some random villager, or a customizable human character.

Of course, they'd attack using each one of the tools - slicing with the axe, firing a stream of water with the watering can, trapping people in the bug net, and . . . swinging around with the fishing pole? Hey, they can't all be gold.

This week has been kinda dull...

Donkey Kong's Final Smash, which involves the Gamecube Bongo's (they have the start button) , with some rhytm input I think.

And Pitfall, which at first I was like, Pitfall Harry?! :p
It looks kinda fun though, not really groundbreaking, but good for a laugh.

I'm hoping we get more on last last Friday's update.

The fishing pole could be used to grab the opponents.

The Animal Crossing character has all the makings of a warrior.
