Yeah, me too. And because I find the disconnect in how trading is regarded in the anime ("TRADING IS EVIL! IT'S LIKE EUTHANIZING A POKEMON, KIDS!") compared to the games ("TRADING IS FUN! Still, that one trade has been Flanderized in the minds of the audience that Pokemon trading is evil in the anime. The only reason they don't complain about that one is quite possibly since it was by accident, and thus they can't find the trainers "morally responsible" for their "crime". The Aesop people took away from that episode wasn't really that "trading with creepy strangers you randomly meet on a boat is bad", so much as "trading Pokemon with anyone at any time is bad".
