Pokémon GO Web Store
Earlier today, Niantic announced the launch of the Pokémon GO Web Store, as a new way for Trainers to be able to purchase PokéCoins. While only available in select regions for now, the store will be rolled out to additional regions globally in the near future.

Trainers who login to the store using their Pokémon GO accounts will be able to purchase exclusive PokéCoin bundle deals from the website, with purchases immediately showing up in-game in the Pokémon GO app. Currently, the Pokémon GO Web Store only supports players logging in with Facebook or Google.

As a way of encouraging users to make use of the store, the bundles available via the Web Store each provide larger amounts of coins than similarly priced coin bundles in the Pokémon GO app itself. As of writing, a purchase of a $9.99 USD (or equivalent in local currency) bundle will net an 60 additional coins, a $19.99 USD bundle will receive 150 additional coins, a $39.99 USD bundle will come with 400 additional coins, and a $99.99 USD bundle will take away a whopping 1,000 additional coins.

To celebrate the launch of the store, a web-exclusive Ultra Legend Box is being made available as a one-time bundle for $24.99 USD. This special bundle includes the following:
  • 2 Elite Charged TMs
  • 2 Elite Fast TMs
  • 10 Super Incubators
  • 5 Premium Battle Passes
The most likely rationale behind Niantic launching this store is to allow them to use their own payment processor, Xsolla, instead of having to give a cut of the purchase to Apple or Google as they would if purchases were made in-app and used those company's payment processors.
