"This isn't goo... thing... approac... death..." Raphael's voice began to cut out inside of Robin's mind. It was as his connection to her was being interfered with. "I can-... no... am gone."
In that moment, his connection with her ceased entirely.

"I'm glad you like it," Aya said, smiling at him. "You deserve it," it'd taken a good bit of money and a lot of hard work to find them. Those things were ancient when it came to cigars; priceless in and of itself. Frankly, she didn't understand it much. But, she knew that he loved antique things - that's what mattered.

"Partners? My friend, don't delude yourself," Alistair leaned on the wall. "You're nothing but a bigger piece in his game of chess. A tool. And I'm pretty sure you know what happens to tools when they've outlived their usefulness," the Harbinger responded.
"Oh. Where are my manners?" He held out his hand to him. "Alistair; Wine Connoisseur. Harbinger of the end times. Now, I want to pose a question: where is your boss?"

Sayloren ran forward, leaping into the trees. She'd been staying out of sight for now, but made note of the girl's movements. Lesser spirits were definitely no issue for her; she seemed strong enough to take them on. However, the true test would be when something bigger came.
On cue, a bellow echoed throughout forest. Various spirits that were fighting stopped at that moment, before turning to run.
Sayloren knew that sound anywhere. "Shit, really? Here?" One of those things being there would be an issue.
"And what makes you think I'm not just biding my time?" Kane inquired with a slight grin, simply shrugging as Alistair repeated his question. "I haven't spoken to him today at all."
"Damn it... Why now of all times?" The girl snarled in a low voice, tightly gripping her scythe as she awaited whatever lurked in the darkness ahead to reveal itself. She could tell it'd take a lot more effort to kill than the others.
Colt smiled at this. "Frankly I don't think I do deserve you, but that just shows how lucky I am." He said quietly. "I proposed so I could get it in writing before you had second thoughts." This was very clearly a joke.
When Robin heard Raphael cut out entirely, she knew something had gone very wrong. But for the sake of Nicol and her hanging out, Robin decided to keep things running as they were and to mask her worried face.
Robin forced a weak smile and a happy voice. "T-this is very serious business, gelatos...d-don't joke with me with them!" She forced a laugh. "N-now let's order and eat b-before the others wonder where we are at this time of d-day."
She then walked over to a table and pretended to drop her headband. Bending down to pick it up under the safety of the table cover, Robin broke her mask to show her completely worried face. It felt like something had been taken out of her. Raph? Raph....Raphael, what happened?! Raphael, please answer me! Please! She tried again and again, but deep down she knew she had been cut off.
Whipping out her phone, Robin texted Aya. Aya, this is really important - where is the emissary that was in HQ, Raphael?
Nicol noticed Robin going back to their table, paying attention to the fact that her demeanor had changed. He ordered the gelatos to go while she had gone back to test Aya and then walked over to her once he ahd gotten them. "I ordered them ot go," he said, trying to act as if he hadn't noticed her shift. "Why don't we go back to the villa and eat them there."
Robin quickly slipped her phone into her pocket, putting it onto 'vibrate'. Turning back to Nicol, she quickly stood up and grabbed her cup, happy for something to distract her by. "Please! Um, yeah let's go and, ah, show off this delish gelatos to everyone." She said to him, smiling as nicely as she could.
Aya had been straddling Colt's lap, kissing him deeply. When her phone vibrated, she sighed. "Let me get that..." The text message from Robin made her roll her eyes a bit. The girl was worried for a god-like being while out on her little date with Nicol.
She texted back to her. He's there. I checked in earlier. Don't be so worried. Of course, there was no way for Aya to understand the gravity of the situation at all. At least, not while she was in this state of euphoria. Putting down her phone, she immediately captured Colt's lips again in a passionate kiss.

Alistair blinked at Kane. Bide his time? The guy was a pawn, at least the last time Alistair heard about their 'arrangement'. "Well get him on the phone," the Harbinger said. "And be quick about it."

The bellowing in the forest began to close in, but then it suddenly stopped. Sayloren didn't leap down from her position, but kept an eye out. The trees in front of the teenaged girl began rustling a bit, but there was no sound heard from the creature that was approaching.
"Can't die yet..." The girl growled out, jumping back a fair distance. Narrowing her black eyes, the ghost tensed up, anticipating an attack at any moment. Raising her scythe, the spirit tightly gripped the weapon as she prepared herself.
Sayloren kept her eyes on the girl. She was tense; it was to be expected. The danger that was coming was more than most would be able to take on in this place - especially considering that access to powers weren't a thing here. Her keeping her eyes on the girl payed off, as she noticed something move over the ground, unseen.
The large figure of the creature came out soon after, the beast swinging an arm at the young girl. The arm fashioned into a scythe-like blade, the entire beast's body spinning in a whirl of speed to try and cleave the girl in half.
Colt had seen the text and he was about to give Aya and Robin an explanation as to why Raphael's powers were on the fritz. But he was very quickly distracted. Musings on Emissaries and Harbingers and the Solstice could come way later. Worldly concerns could be dealt with later, for now he only had one person on his mind. The rest of the world was nothing to him.
In less than a split second, the girl had crouched as low as her body would've allowed her to - just barely avoiding being sliced in two. Sticking in a low crouch, she ran at the beast and attempted tripping the creature - both with a powerful kick - and the whistling sound of a scythe cutting through air signified the sharp blade digging into its side.
Seeing the text only reassured Robin slightly and made her walk even faster back to the villa. She knew something was very, very wrong and it wasn't only because of the solstice. One way or the other, Robin wanted to get back to headquarters to check on Raphael but for now, Robin decided to distract herself to the delicious looking Oreo gelato, only slightly melted. Eating a spoonful, Robin immediately fell in love with the taste and started digging into the Italian ice cream as she walked.
"Really. Do we have to do this?" Alistair sighed. "Fine then, I'll just take your phone and do it myself."
--
The creature dodged to the side, its body disappearing. It could turn itself invisible - that was enough to make Sayloren swallow a knot in her throat. Its movements were completely masked, too. How exactly would this girl's reflexes fair her in this matchup, she had to wonder.
The beast charged in, its body becoming visible as it unleashed a flurry of quick attacks upon the scythe-wielder.
Letting out an audible growl, the female parried each blow launching counter attacks while she could, dashing backwards to evade the last assault. Gripping the scythe tightly, balanced her weight on the balls of her feet, ready to leap out of the way of another attack.
"It's obvious that one ghost alone can't take it down.. It requires a distraction, perhaps.." She muttered, narrowing her eyes in discontempt.
"No need," Kane shrugged, grinning slightly as he took out his phone and proceeded to dial Ripred's number. "Though for a guy so powerful you sure are easy to annoy."

"Let's go then," Nicol said simply. "Lead the way."
