"I have a phone and I'm pretty good at video editting," Adam pointed out with a smirk before hearing what Aya said next, closing his eyes slightly as he leaned a little away from the balcony. "Don't worry, we're nto going anywhere," he reassured before petting her head lightly, looking at Colt as if asking for permission.

Colt chuckled at Adam's remark as well as his hesitance over showing any sort of affection towards Aya. "You know I'm not the jealous type you twit." He said to Adam with a smile before looking over at Aya. "We're not going anywhere." He promised before pulling the two of them into a hug.

Melissa's soothing voice and stroking only escalated Robin's discomfort and made her feel slightly overwhelmed. Both hands turned into fists and her breathing became uneven and faster while she squirmed on the bed. Sliver, thick and ugly veins started to appear around Robin's head.

"What do you mean...tell me!" She said urgently.

Ares threw his phone at the wall, surprisingly not shattering the thing as it made a dent. She couldn’t even grace him with a reply, and he had a feeling it wasn’t for anything like Null. He sighed to himself, questioning why he kept trying and hoping. He wished she would explain and be clear rather than making him feel so confused.

“Can you promise me something?” he suddenly heard Marquess’ voice. The guy had apparently entered the room and was now looking at the love phone. “If this doesn’t work out then never go for another non-riftborne again.”

He waited until Marquess was sitting down on the bed looking through the texts before replying. “Why?”

“Because they just hurt. I saw it with Andry.”

“Just one ad oyfriend with her isn’t enough to judge off of.”

“It’s not one. It’s multiple.”

“Not really a good ool of choices here. Andry is not I tye, lus she scares ee. Enny and Etunia are self-exlanatory, and Vanelo’ee is just a child.”

“More riftborne are being born lately. Soon it’ll be a bigger pool.”

“Not I age.”

“True. Why is love so important to you guys?”

“It’s not. At least it didn’t used to ee. I used to not care a’out others. I used to not want it.”

“Are you a virgin?”

“No,” he answered him, unfazed by the strange topic change. He did that a lot. And usually somehow tied it back into the topic. It was quite amazing actually.

“So you want someone to have sex with.”

“I don’t actually care for it. I used Halloween to get away with I a’earance to try it ecause it was su’osed to ee enjoyale. However I feel that is only when it’s with so’one you like, and it’s not soething I really care a lot a’out.”

“So-“

“There is a difference. Etween dating and just eing friends. One eing I wouldn’t have that I’age of her with anyone ut ee. Also the right to hold her whenever and just say the sweet things I want to say without causing troule.”

“Such as how beautiful she is every day?”

“Yeah. Just those little things to ut her on toh of the world.”

“If you didn’t care before, then why now?

“Originally I acceted Null’s offer to use theh, ut then she acceted what I ah and I felt like for once I would have that chance, even with this face. For once I could feel the ars of another even if I cannot kiss. Feel love even though I a freak.”

“Just promise me that if it doesn’t work then you won’t go after another.”

“I swear, ut if it does then you have to hoe for the est with Andry and Ada. He’s a decent guy.”

“Promise. Take care Ares,” he said, rising from the bed and placing a kiss on the other male’s forehead before leaving.

Ares sighed as he looked down at the phone and saw that the Marquess had sent Aya a text.

Once upon a time there was a beautiful flower with many seeds. One day a young man was passing by and said, “You are a beautiful flower. I wish I had one like you.” The flower was quite entranced with the man so she said, “Take a seed. It is part of me and it will grow to be just like me. Just promise me you will love me forever.” “Promise,” the man replied as he took a seed. He didn’t keep his promise though. The seed had grown and soon had its own seed, but its own seed withered and died. The man enraged by this left the plant he had raised to wither and die like its seed, and thus killed a part of the flower.

Another man came along, a bit older, but he seemed kinder. “You are a beautiful flower. I wish I had one like you.” Like the other one she was quite entranced. “You are a beautiful flower. I wish I had one like you.” Like the other man he raised the seed, however unlike the other this one produced no seeds as that part of the plant was ruined. This anger the man and he left it alone. Once again another part of the flower died.

There was a third man. He seemed so sweet. So perfect. Like the others the flower’s beauty entranced him. “You are a beautiful flower. I wish I had one like you.” He didn’t seem so bad. “Take a seed. It is part of me and it will grow to be just like me. Just promise me you will love me forever.” “Promise,” the man replied as he took a seed. The man turned out to be involved in bad things. Very bad things. The flower that he raised asked him to stop. He promised he would. However he lied and thus as a result met an early death. That part of the flower died as she had no one to take care of.

With one seed left there was another man. Like with the other men this one found her to be a beautiful flower. “You are a beautiful flower. I wish I had one like you.” Like the others, he entranced her. “Take my last seed. It is part of me and it will grow to be just like me. Just promise me you will love me forever.” “Promise,” the man replied as he took the seed. He raised her to be a beautiful flower. However one day she caught him taking care of another flower, and when asked to explain he told her that he had raised it from a seed as well. He then stopped taking care of her in favor of the other seed and there went another part of her.

Finally there was another man. This time she called him, a simple greeting just to be courteous. However immediately her beauty captivated him. “You are such a beautiful flower, where can I get like you?” “There is just me, but you can have me. Just be gentle as I am quite fragile as I have no more seeds and cannot produce anymore. If you take me you must promise to love me forever and take care of me,” she told him. “I promise,” he answered as he gently took her from the ground to take home.

At the same time there was a Daisy. He was a strange one with strange petals and just pushing the ground. A girl came by and while others found him to be hideous she found him to be beautiful. The Daisy longed to be with her, to go home with her and be taken care of. However one day she came by with a guy and the Daisy was hurt, beginning to wilt, striving to be the one she showed her love to.

-Love, Marquess.
Ares stared at the text. He was so dead. Oh well. It was a nice story, and made you hope for a happy ending.

"You suddenly became british," Adam pointed out dryly before he was pulled into a hug by Colt, a chuckle escaping him as he hugged back. "Yeah, now the promise is doubly made," he turned towards Aya. 'And you can trust us because if we were ever to break a promise to a sweet girl like you we might as well have died to begin with."

Nicol had been checking around Aya's mansion, making sure to explore every part of it in order to sate his curiosity. That's when he came upon the room Marissa and Robin were in, noticing that the woman seemed to be having some trouble by what he could hear. "Is something wrong?" he asked with concern as he walked into the room.

Drew stepped out on the balcony, he hadn't had an oppertunity to socialize with some of the other Null members since joining, so he thought now would be a good chance.

"Hey." He greeted. "What are you guys doing out here?"

"Hah. No kidding," Aya chuckled herself, closing her eyes. She wanted to savor the moment between the three of them. It was rare that they were able to connect like this; even while inebriated, the distancing nature of Null's work was still fresh in her mind.

When Drew came through the balcony door, Aya lifted her head. "Ah, it's nothing. Just three drunks moaning about life. You should join us, sometime."

It seemed like things were looking up even more. Null had gotten more leads from a then conscious Alistair, whose energies had been scanned. The Riftwalker was screened, and his powers were determined and identified. However, interrogation was going nowhere; the male was almost catatonic, never speaking. He only repeated simple phrases every so often; two of which mentioning the word "harbinger".

The cryptic nature of the message was enough to have Null issue an order to Sector IV, considering they had been the only ones who dealt with the Riftwalkers; investigate the meaning further.

Now, the team was told to prep themselves, Aya planning to call someone on a video screen. On the screen came an elderly woman.

"Hello, Ayana," she greeted.

"Hi, Ms. Diana." Aya gave the woman a smile.

"Sir, would you like more wine?" The waiter held out the bottle, which had the label of Château Mouton Rothschild. The food was elegantly prepared, sitting in front of the two men currently at the table.

"Yes," Ripred's voice was calm, the waiter nodding as he poured some into his glass.

Then, the waiter turned to the other male. "And you, sir?"

Ripred's gaze went over to the man as well.

Metzli awoke to blurry surroundings in a bleak alabaster room. Immediately adrenaline pumped into her veins, her mind shifting into panic mode. Jerking at her wrists, her frantic gaze traveled down to her arms. Stygian black gauntlets had her wrists tied down to the bed. Though she saw no one, that didn't stop her from writhing about.

After thoroughly bruising her wrists to the point of scabbing, fatigue took over once more as her struggling gradually ceased. Letting out a frustrated grunt, she became still once more as her mind descended into darkness.

Colt was sitting next to Aya as she made her phone call, cleaning and checking his weapons. Even though his guns worked nothing like anything else in Null's expansive armory, he somehow knew exactly how to clean and maintain them. He also was sharpening his blade, he knew they would have to be ready for round two against the Riftborne.

The Ares complication would prove difficult. But Colt would do what needed to be done. He always had.

Adam was having a last minute sparring session, some training before the new mission. He had entered the Sim room and was shooting at the targets with his shadow bullets and his clones. "I gotta work the speed and control of them better," he muttered to himself as he alternated with his clones between targets. He had noticed that the clones responded to what he commanded in his mind but he would have to command each of them individually or else theyw ould all do the same thing.

"Pour a glass for me too thank you," Kane replied elegantly to the waiter as he raised his wine glass, his eyes looking at the view before turning back towards Ripred. "I have to say this is the best way to do a business meeting, wouldn't you agree?"

"Indeed," Ripred said, sipping his wine. "I can think of no better way to conduct our business. So... tell me what you plan to offer in exchange for my services."

--

"It's good to see you, darling," Diana gave Aya a smile.

The girl couldn't help but mirror it. "Thank you, ma'm; likewise."

Diana looked down at her book. "Though, something tells me that you haven't called for idle chat this time," she didn't have to be there physically to tell that Aya was tense. "And your silence confirms that for me. What's on your mind?"

Aya let out a breath. "We're having an issue. With those Riftwalkers," she stated.

"You want to know more about them," Diana stated.

"Ah... yes," Aya answered. It was amazing how well-honed Diana's intuition was.

--

"You shouldn't push yourself, Metzli," came the voice of Hyde from her mind.

A zombie like Robin walked through the hospital dorms, searching for a particular one. Robin still had the bloodshot eyes with the forming bags under her eyes, along with the silver veins coursing throughout her entire body and pale skin. The only difference was that she had a bandage wrapped around her back.

She finally found the door she was looking for and walked in before shutting the door and grabbing a chair to sit on, staring at the lifeless body of Metzli.

"Right down to business I see," Kane pointed out with a coy smile as he took his glass and took a sip from it, savoring the wine gently as he slowly sifted the glass. "Well Mr. Ripred, over the last few years I've managed to gather quite a few people under my belt, from other orphaned riftwalkers such as myself to even ex members of Null, including some of their former best scientists," he explained, lowering the glass slowly and staring at the man on the other side. "We've been trying to conduct experiments to figure out more on the Rift and...the Void that they leave to as we have come to find out," a wide smirk crossed his face.

"But it's come to my knowledge that you know much more about those subjects that we do aren't I right? I understand that you have very poweful Riftwalkers under your commands, excuse my suspicions but I somehow doubt they're completely loyal only because of an offer you could'e made to them or for your charisma, not that wouldn't be good enough," he explained calmly, crossing his legs and keeping his eyes fixed on the man. "So, you have plans and so do I, we have a common enemy we both want to destroy, I have a team that can help you further your plans if you so wish and extra forces that we could both use."

Robin had continue to stare at Metzli for a good few minutes until she noticed Marissa.

She rubbed her eyes and admitted, "To be honest, I feel like dirt and worser then I was when we went to the party. I've been thinking about what I heard when I, um fell asleep on Colt."

She then yawned and continued to stare at Metzli with droopy eyes.

Ripred listened intently at Kane. This man, he was insightful. Arrogant as well. Almost a mirror-image of Ripred, himself. Once Kane had finished, Ripred took a drink from his wine. Then, he spoke in a calmer tone. "'When the sun is aligned with the moon, and the sky blackens, the ring will pierce the Ether and unleash them. Bound by forces beyond us, their rise heralds only the end.'" It sounded as if he were reciting something from a verse in a holy scripture.

--

Aya had explained some of the situation to Diana. Now abreast of their intentions, she was able to grasp the situation a little better. "I'm flattered that you'd call me for something this massive, Ayana~"

"Of course, ma'm. You are the most knowledgeable person I know," Aya chuckled a bit.

Diana gave her own small chuckle before speaking. "Well... I'm afraid that, today, I won't be of much help."

Aya's eyes widened. "Wait. What? You can't help?"

The elderly woman shook her head. "It's not that I cannot help... it's that I cannot help you understand in this current situation. These Riftwalkers. I know who they are."

The girl leaned forward. "You do! Who are they?"

Diana leaned back in her chair, and she let out a small breath. "Well, you'll have to look that up. I'll give you directions as to how to get there. But, you'll have to do so yourself. You'll meet a group who call themselves the Children of Orion."

"Children of Orion?" Aya echoed. It sounded like a band name.

"Yes. They single-handedly possess the largest supernatural bank of information in the entirety of the world. Information on these Riftwalkers is bound to be there. I can give you directions to the place," Diana took the incense from her mouth, blowing out the smoke.

"That's all rather interesting." Colt said quietly as he continued to clean and perform routine maintenance on how hand cannons. "Children of Orion... Hearing that fills me with... Well let's just say I don't exactly like the sound of it." He mused. "But we should go, they may be able to help."

"Who did this!?" came the furious voice of Andromeda, slamming a newspaper down on the table where the current meal was taking place.

"What? Our job?" Penny scoffed, looking at one of the articles.

"Your job? Your job wasn't this!"

"That's what you ordered," Penny stated calmly.

"I didn't order this!"

"What was the order?" Ares asked feeling confused.

Andromeda seemed to debate telling him for a moment, but in the end she relented. "There's this rich guy, his wife was pregnant and he found out that the twins in her would not come out right. His child would have been born without legs, the other with down syndrome. So he made his wife get an abortion. Those who treat those like that, we send messages to, but this was wrong. I ordered something like breaking his legs, not removing them and castrating him. That is wrong. We want them to temporarily feel what others have to deal with, not permanently."

"Then send ee next tie. I'll do it right," Ares told Andromeda.

"You don't mind something like that?"

"It's just reaking his legs. That's nothing to ee. I've done that in self defense."

"Ares I love you," Andromeda hugged him.

Penny made gagging sounds at the two as a strange person entered the room. He was wearing baggy pants, and a large hoodie with it's hood up. And sneakers. "Jasper I have something to do. Come with me," the person said.

Ares and Jasper's jaws literally dropped as they recognized the voice.

"I can't believe he's not in blankets," Jasper said in shock. Ares too surprised for words merely nodded in agreement. It was the first time either had seen the male not in a bunch of blankets.

"Let's go," he told Jasper.

"Ah pick up dinner on your way back," Hamnet told them.

Marquess merely gave a small wave as Jasper ran to follow him.

"Where are we going?" he asked once they were a bit away from the house.

"You'll see," was all he said.

"Why not Andry?"

"You just visited your veil recently right?"

"Yeah," the boy nodded.

"Then you're ready. You've seem depressed lately. This will cheer you up."

Jasper frowned at the secrecy, but followed nevertheless.

After the discussion with Diana, Aya had been given the directions to the place they were supposed to meet up. Now, now she had to go and check on Metzli. She was told to resonate with her Veil before leaving, as it was necessary. "Colt, I'm heading out to go to Metz. Be back."

Once Aya exited the room, she looked down the hall of the HQ. Before she could turn to walk, however, she was stopped by the strangest sight she'd seen all week. From the wall of the hall, a figure phased through it, a rippling resonance filling the hallway as it did. "Wait, wha..."

The figure was a male - ashen skin, black hair, with black eyes staring directly into Metzli's room. For the others, excluding Robin and Aya, he was invisible.

--

A girl found herself running through empty streets, desperately trying to get away. The things that were pursuing her were getting forward, she could tell. She had no idea how to do what she did last time to evade them. Now, without so much as a stick as a weapon, she was running for her life.

She turned a corner, hiding herself inside of an alleyway. It was terrifying... somehow, someway, she had found herself in that damn isolation world again. That one no one believed about when she told them about it. Her face was completely covered, save for her eyes; for good reason. Though no one was around, she didn't want to risk people seeing it.
