Spoilers Official Let's Go Pikachu/Let's Go Eevee Discussion Thread

Call me predictable, but I want to find out all the moments in which the TRio turn up and what they say/do. (I wanna know if there is any/much change from Yellow.) Anyone know how I'd find this out, or know the answer themselves?

Only problem I have is the same problem I've had for years. I...hate...NATURES!! I had to soft reset for an hour to get a decent nature for my starter! Other than that I'm loving it. My favorite new feature is being able to swap out your Pokemon from boxes at anytime without having to go to a Pokemon Center. I also love that you can change the nickname at any time too.

Anyone else disappointed by the lack of new anime references? Like I get that it's "a reimanigining of yellow" instead of a remake but, still yellow was based on the anime.
Not to mention that they removed Giselle, Joe and AJ, who were trainers in Yellow. They did give Misty and Blaine some of their anime Pokemon (Psyduck and Magmar), though.

Ok, here's a question for anyone who has the game: does swapping Pokémon from the portable PC restore HP, PP and status? Or that happens only with fixed PCs, like the Pokémon Centers' ones? This is something I'm interested to know about.

I think they are no longer healed when deposited (not sure on this one). The fixed PCs in the Pokémon Centers no longer exist, either. ):

I know right? Why did Game Freak want to go with Red/Blue trainers when the Anime trainers were more iconic than the Red/Blue one’s? If anything, they should have added more Anime content and references. I remember reading somewhere that the reason Yellow didn’t get more Anime references than it has was because of time constraints, so you’d think Masuda would keep that in mind when remaking it.

Team design doesn't require much time at all. To be fair, the gyms are fine since they're basically better versions of the anime teams. Does Sabrina really need a Kadabra when she has an Alakazam? Same for Koga having a Venonat. And it stands to reason that Rhydon isn't the best fit for a Fire specialist, especially when it is Giovanni's star.

The only weird choice, outside of dropping iconic COTDs instead of adding new ones, is not giving Jessie and James more Pokemon. Meowth doesn't even battle anymore, much less talk.

I'm really liking the game so far. However what happened to the abilities? Why they were removed?

I'm glad I saved my money. There's simple, and then there's overly simple. All of the Pokémon's movesets not only shrunk, but a lot of them were robbed of moves that would either reflect their typing or even give them proper STAB. That's really something Game Freak shouldn't have tried to simplify or done for nostalgia's sake. I'm honestly starting to think that the GO stuff and aesthetics were the only things Game Freak put any effort into for LGPE, and that's just sad to me. I know it's not completely true, but it sure seems to look that way from many a consumer's perspective.

I am having a lot of fun so far. Yes, I do miss day and night cycles, but other than that, there is a lot going on here, and my first impressions are very good.

First off, this game is absolutely adorable, like every cutscene with my Pikachu is so freaking adorable

Next off, the capture mechanics are really cool. Like that was one thing I was kind of worried about, how would go's capture mechanics feel with a joy-con? But honestly, it feels great. I heard the pokeball controller also feels very good, but because Smash Ultimate comes out in just a few weeks I couldn't spend the extra money on the Pokeball controller. But the capture mechanics feel really really nice, honestly even better than Go's sometimes. It makes capturing things really fun., and it is making me really want to work on my Pokedex.

Having Pokemon on the overworld just makes it feel so much more natural. I would understand if this is the only game they do it for, but it is so nice. It's so cool just running around and then a Pidgey just flies overhead, and it was absolutely epic when I was walking through Viridian Forest trying to get a Bulbasaur when a pink footed Butterfree starts floating around nearby, and I am quickly running to grab it. Having those shinies in the overworld is awesome.

It is so visually stunning. Yes, going back to the chibi graphics was a little off-putting at first, but this game is so visually appealing. The lighting affects work really well in this game, and the colors are just so vibrant. Kanto has never looked better than it has now. And just think, next year we're probably be going to explore a new region with all these amazing colors.

And oh my gosh the score. Like, Pokemon has always done amazing with the music, but these remixes are absolutely excellent. So nostalgic, but at the same time so new. The compositions are wonderful, and it's just amazing to hear it.

These are my first thoughts on the games, and I hope everyone who is playing is also having a lot of fun :)

Having played the game for a couple of hours (I spent way too much time soft-resetting for a good Nature on my Pikachu. My roommates and bf all made fun of me,) I have to say....I’m really loving it so far. I already caught a Bulbasaur so between him and Pikachu, I’m a happy camper.

The capture mechanics are...surprisingly fun. Though predictably not as good for grinding (although this may have to do with Pokémon giving out less exp in general.) I’m used to grinding my Starter to level 15 before taking on Brock, but I’m finding that difficult in this game. On the flip side, catching Pokémon with the Go mechanics is unexpectedly fun. And I am having a good time seeing how rare I can make the wild Pokémon appear.

All in all, I think that this is a great game...for people who aren’t too focused on getting a full main series game’s worth of content. It’s something I’m okay with, personally, but I can see people who were hoping this would be Gen VIII not being satisfied.

I know not the proper thread but anyone has a lets go eevee and wanna trade exclusive pokemon need to make a living dex

I consider these games a clean slate from the mainline series, and if I were to critique the games, I'd try not to let my opinions of previous Pokemon games get in my way. In other words, I would review the games on how good they are as games, regardless of what was added or removed.

Seeing as GameFreak claims that the game is a part of the main series I don’t blame people for comparing it to main series games, specially when they happen to have less content than the 3DS installments at a higher price.
