Care to talk about something else, instead of bringing attention to Myth and I's discussion? Feel free to bring up literally anything pertaining to the thread if you'd like. =o
I mean, I have been but by the time I get through the text walls, the point I want to make is moot. But thank y'all for putting your discussions in spoilers. I (and I'm sure others) appreciate it a lot.

Detective Pikachu comes out on a Friday, so that week we are certainly not getting anything i think. So we can get anything from the 13th of May (Which is on a monday).

They could still keep it compatible with JoyCons and a Dock so people could ‘Switch’ it if they really wanted to later on.

And it’s not as if 3DS didn’t lose 3D...

Keeping 1 motion sensor instead of 3 (one each for JoyCons and the main console in the OG switch), 1 Battery, non-detachable controllers so no hinge mechanics can reduce costs.
Nintendo already sells Switch without Dock for around $250 so it shouldn’t be a huge problem to bring it lower with these alterations.

I mean at this point, what else do you do to make it worth marketing as different from "Switch with no dock?" :p The 3DS had a name change and was in response to the gimmick not being as popular as planned. It's also a smaller feature, although I do agree there's some merit to that argument to say that the Switch may have some handheld-exclusive iteration. It's hard to get a Switch down to the $200 dollar range considering you get less off than its retail value for each part removed. Maybe there's something there, but I don't think this is the logical next step for Nintendo. The success of the Switch lies in its flexibility and games are developed around this idea. Some games may be limited in functionality in the future if it can't switch between modes (I'm thinking something like what Mario Party did with forcing handheld at times). Ultimately though, I guess we'll see in the next few years.

Can agree about clay i guess
i picked tepig first time so that excadrill was a nightmare
had to paralyze it with lucario's force palm
Even with Snivy, the Excadrill can be really obnoxious. Fantina has really ridiculous damage with few resists for Mismagius' Shadow Ball, especially in Platinum where she's the 3rd Gym Leader...she's pretty tough. Maylene's Drain Punch spam is annoying and Lucario hits really hard. Plus the level curve is kinda steep at that point in the game.

@Knightwolf I had a look at it. It seemed plausible up to the Fire/Ice Final Evolution for Scorbunny, which is WAY too out there. I mean that's not to say impossible. But it's pretty unlikely from my view.

How is it that hard? They already got it down to $250 for the same Switch without a dock. They already sell a Dockless Switch.
Remove the costliest parts- 2 batteries and 2 motion sensors and you’re already there.
(And that’s including their profit markup)

Make it work with the Dock and extra Joy-Cons if wanted and now it can Switch. Too.

There, you got a cheaper Switch you can 'Switch' later if you want to with no consequences and a lower price.
I don’t really get what’s the issue with this set up.

That's pretty much a win-win.

And that accelerates sales for people that were used to a smaller and cheaper 3DS but find the Switch too expensive. They could buy the dock later if they want to try it out/have resources to buy one.

I doubt anyone would use it, but tabletop mode might be possible since it would be compatible with extra Joy-Cons. The only limitation might be screen size.

Maylene's Lucario can also be taken defeated easily with Earthquake in Platinum, because for some reason you can get TM50 almost immediately after you defeat Jupiter for the first time.

I still don't understand why people say that the Detective Pikachu movie is an "obstacle" for Sword/Shield. They're not competing franchises. They don't come from rivalling companies. They're from the same brand, from the same company... If anything, the movie is the opposite of an obstacle, since chances are it will draw even more attention to the Pokémon brand as a whole and, by extension, to the games as well.

Game Freak has absolutely no reason whatsoever to be afraid of the movie. For Arceus' sake, the movie is based on their IP. If anything, GF stands to gain from the movie and the attention it will garner.

This is a bit of a non sequitor, but it occurred to me the other day- it’s gonna be a bit more challenging to broadcast VGC matches with the Switch games, isn’t it? Since the mainline games have been on dual screen systems since DPPt, they’re been able to just stream one of the two competitors’ upper screen, without revealing that person’s Pokemon’s moveset or the four Pokemon that they selected to fight in that specific battle. For the Switch entries though, the selection interface is going to have to share the same screen as the battle itself.

How do you think they’ll go about this in live settings? Do you think there’ll have to be some kind of ‘spectator mode’ in the game just for tournament settings so that they can project and stream the battle without revealing one person’s strategy prematurely to the audience and other competitor?

Hence why they should wait until after May 10th, which is what they would usually do, anyway.
