This is a bit of a non sequitor, but it occurred to me the other day- it’s gonna be a bit more challenging to broadcast VGC matches with the Switch games, isn’t it? Since the mainline games have been on dual screen systems since DPPt, they’re been able to just stream one of the two competitors’ upper screen, without revealing that person’s Pokemon’s moveset or the four Pokemon that they selected to fight in that specific battle. For the Switch entries though, the selection interface is going to have to share the same screen as the battle itself.

How do you think they’ll go about this in live settings? Do you think there’ll have to be some kind of ‘spectator mode’ in the game just for tournament settings so that they can project and stream the battle without revealing one person’s strategy prematurely to the audience and other competitor?

They can solve that on the VGC only internally, but I would like have a spectator mode in these games.

Hence why they should wait until after May 10th, which is what they would usually do, anyway.

Perhaps there will be a new trailer to appear starting in theatres with the worldwide premiere, then soon after available online too. It seems quite possible that they have made additional animated sequences, which would look and sound very amazing that way!

Couldn't find the post itself so I had to rely on this vid.

You just have to google what the comment says and "vp" and it comes up pretty fast.

I'm calling BS.
  • Several events are listed as being in 2010. Sure, 9 and 0 are close to each other, but why wouldn't someone look for typos on a date in their job?
  • For that matter, why is the year being listed at all? They're all taking place in 2019.
  • And according to Wikipedia, the characters for day, month, and year are still put after the numbers. Date and time notation in Japan - Wikipedia
  • The "leaker" says they can't read Japanese. So why did someone forward it to them without a translation? And why didn't they bother with google translate?
  • This is Game Freak's internal schedule, but they put stuff for Detective Pikachu and Funko Pop, done by entirely different companies?
  • Why would anyone screencap their email? Especially with the date/time it was sent included? It'd be insanely easy to find out who leaked it. "Hmm, who did I send the schedule to on the 25th at 1:53? Oh, John! John, you're fired."

You're right. This seems so fake to me. The last line before the listings of the events literally says: "Please protect the secrets and don't forward this to any low people." Whatever that may mean. The wording is not professional at all and I can't believe this e-mail is supposed to be used as a "reference guide" when the event list is not even in a seperate Word file or whatever.

Not totally unbelievable, as far as leaks go. A Post-Golden Week trailer attached to Detective Pikachu would make a lot of sense.

Doesn't necessarily look like a Pokemon, but. Neither did Binacle when I first saw it

About Petromite:

giphy.gif

Even being backgrounds of the same location (as you can see by the building behind, and by the flowers etc), the background sequences don't fit with each other. In addition, in the official, Pikachu appears "facing" the player first, and then the perspective changes later. In the case of Petromite's video, it already appears from a different perspective, from the very beginning. I think it's fake.

I put the clip on Vimeo so it can be linked here. The user that posted it said this:

Hello, 4chan.
I am critique/quality assurance of sorts for the new Pokémon sword and shield games design. Recently I have seen leak regarding a new pokemon and UI, which are accurate. I am hear to share some informations regarding the game.
I have not had a long time with it yet as it isn’t my primary project and I haven’t had many opportunities to test it. The version of which I was able to test have watermarks in gameplay on it which I suspect are traceable to tester (identifiers). Only some areas like battle intro don’t have watermarks which I assume to be due to no ui textures being used here (They are on other UI pieces).
The main idea of my test was to see if the color palette change (part of day/night cycle) is working and not producing artifacts (it was making orange and black line/shape artifacts during “noon”). Furthermore there was a test for 2 versions of shiny pokemon. One version is just recolor of the normal one (like in the older games) and the other is using more glossy/cartoony shading (Seen in a nother leak). The later kind appears to be a not only different looking one, but a generally a variation (Like a shiny version of a shiny version). This might have a gameplay impact too, but it was obviously not completed as it was also missing shiny battle start effect.

It definitely looks credible, but there's a lot that makes me skeptical.

  • This user opens up their post by giving a job description. If you're breaking an NDA and could get fired, why would the first words you put with a leak be identifying information?
  • This user includes some typos that make it seem like English isn't their native language ("share some informations"), but there are other typos that would only happen if you spoke English naturally. ("hear" and "here" are homonyms, so someone who speaks English would mix them up. But if you're translating from another language, you're going just by the definition. There's no reason why the word "hear" would come up when someone was trying to find a word to refer to "this site")
  • And speaking of language errors-if they don't speak English well, why do they have an English version of the game?
  • As Myth pointed out, the backgrounds are considerably different, despite being the same location.
  • The user says they've "recently seen a leak regarding a new Pokemon and UI, which are accurate". But the only leak displaying any new Pokemon and UI was the peanut fly, and not only did we have a confession from someone, we also had them show how they made that. We know for a fact that it's fake-which means that a leak promising it was true is also fake.

Also, is it me, or there's something wrong with the model's movement?

Actually, it does not.

Many Western Pokemon Fans are preparing themself to see the movie on that date, especially since the actual time of dayrelease also matters. If they go with evening in the USA, its already Saturday for Europe and Japan and they don't bring out a trailer on a Saterday anyways. There is the chance many people who are in line to watch the movie, are gonna miss out on the trailer, meaning the trailer doesn't get as much hype and coverage and i think this is something Gamefreak and Nintendo wanna avoid.

Say, is there any chance that they will reveal something in the movie like they did with Trevenant?

^ I have my reservations, but it'd be an interesting marketing move nonetheless to advertise SwSh where TPC can reach the most people, and that's at the movie theatres.

This was released on a Saturday, does that count?

To my knowledge, they don't do Directs on the weekend, but the Pokemon channel seems to drop its trailers any day of the week. Since Directs are only used for announcements, this next news drop would likely be a Pokemon channel video.
