But still, being voiced by a woman does not make any character, Pokemon included, feminine. Nor does a Pokemon being primarily used by female trainers.
I'm gonna have to stick to disagreeing with you on that one

Yes, Delphox has a high-pitched voice by a female voice actor-

But if you listen to actual foxes, the choice makes perfect sense-

Delphox just sounds like... a fox. If they tried to make it more masculine, it would lose that foxy pitch.

I honestly doubt they go the extra mile to give pokemon voices that match their animal noises.

Not for all of them, but it makes sense that they chose a fox-like voice for Delphox.

Also- it sounds more like a fox than a girl. Have you not been around girls much? We don't typically screech like that.

I think you guys just ignored my other comments that they at least make them sound boy-ish
Because it's a subjective thing.

You doubt an actor would try to sound like a fox... when portraying Delphox? As opposed to being given a memo from Game Freak to make it sound feminine, because Delphox was designated as the feminine starter of the generation?

Delphox isn't exactly feminine. Braixen sure is though.

Possibly they tell the actors to voice how they think they would sound given their looks. So unless their told Delphox or other pokemon are male or female, they would've made a difference to whehter a voice sound higher pitched like a girl or a little gruffer, like Chespin or Bunnelby for example.

Or high-pitched like a fox bark?

Again, I doubt that's the case. Other wise all poekmon would sound more animalistic if that's the route they go for
Why would you doubt that a voice actor would try to make a fox sound like a fox? It's intuitive. You're given a fox creature, you have to come up with a voice for it- what would be the first thing that you would think to go with? A deep gruff dog bark? A high-pitched voice is the obvious choice there.

Plus, the anime is hardly the definitive reference point when that's only one person's interpretation... and the official interpretation by Game Freak sounds like-

Please do not tell me that that animalistic cry sounds feminine to you.

Got any from the more recent animes at least ones up to gen 4, where you can use that example?

Kinda, yeah. And again, even if high pitched was the option, they still could've put gruff in the voices to make the genders more evident, again example of Chespin and Bunnelby.

Meowstic yowl.

Rowlet coos.

Alrighty, there's some proper example. But it's still a handful so far that try to stay true with animal sounds

...okay calling that cry feminine is insulting to women everywhere. XP

But we don't know the gender of Delphox so why would they go out of their way to make gruff high-pitched sounds?
