Battle Facilities are fun, even when not taken competitively. It's not rocket science.

Actually it is rocket science... for Game Freak.

Disappointing that none of the shirts will be featured in the game. I really liked the one with all the bear Pokemon.
Blame that one person who didn't wait until after the contest to start selling it.

Go is a game that’s supposed to last. It needs content upgrades to move on, and increasing the amount of creatures to catch in a game where the main gameplay is catching creatures is a way to do that! Who would’ve thought that?

And GO might add more creatures, that doesn’t mean that the general public will know them as well as the Kanto bunch.
Kanto has had a Pokemania and a 20 year+ headstart in that department.

Just go and ask any 10 random people if they know what a Pikachu is vs what an Anorith or Metagross is.
Both are currently in GO and I’m pretty positive more will know what a Pikachu is.
And people were getting tired of the same Kanto encounters again and again during that time. That’s why Pidgey and ratatta encounters ended for a while with them being egg exclusive.
If people were tired of Kanto encounters and wanted more new pokemon, why wouldn't the same experience apply to a second Let's Go? Let's Go Johto might not sell quite as well as LGPE but it would still sell. It doesn't have to be all Gen 1 to make money, and the fact that GO has been introducing these later generations is a solid point- my mom plays GO and she might not remember the names of most of them but she would still recognize a Glameow if you showed her one. We both went to see Detective Pikachu and the only Pokémon that she asked me about were from generations not yet in Pokémon GO.

They sold it before the contest, actually.
That's what I meant, they didn't wait until the contest has even started before selling it. The point that I'm trying to get across here is the fact that contest entries shouldn't be sold to the public before the contest is over.

With the way Game Freak is going, they really should've ended Pokemon after Gen 7, that way they could have enough elbow room when trying something new to expand the company, such as Town.

???

This is the strangest thing I’ve heard...

They’re already trying something new while keeping Pokemon intact... they’ve also said that this experience will be used for Pokemon so I don’t really see the issue here?

And anyone shutting down the highest grossing franchise in the world would be shooting themselves in the foot by doing so.

Then wouldn’t making traditional remakes and adding the walking Pokemon features over to the main series be equal (if not better) in terms of profit and public reception?

I’m not really sure about what happens to Let’s Go but I’ve got a hunch that it’s going to be a thing till Let’s Go Johto. I’m guessing the best option is to wait and see...

Either way I hope DPPt remakes are best after a break year.

Yeah no, Pokemon is Game Freak's Mario, they aren't going to stop producing games for their most successful franchise just because it experienced major downturns. Any successful franchise can experience downturns for some time, it's what basically happened to Zelda during the Wii U and 3DS generations before they managed to recover with Breath of the Wild.

Perhaps by learning from BotW, GF could pull through with SwSh. Even spice things up with the mechanism for the Gen 4 Remake. Hopefully coming next year.

The other titles don't even compete with Pokémon and are used as a way to keep the new teams active and trained. Innovation is also important and more IP's wouldn't hurt a studio like Gamefreak. They've always been quite small for the succes they've achieved.

Maybe they know the unknown shirt is too crappy a design to pick in the game since the majority of the 'effort' behind it would be hidden by backpacks.

Almost like they didn't consider this when choosing the prize winners. Even from a PR standpoint the 3rd place winner should have been 2nd place as a last & final little throwback to Gen 7. Plus the design itself was superior to boot.

You'd think a multi-billion dollar franchise would possess the time & resources to fact-check for their own hosted contest. I've seen reddit & deviant art contest that were better handled than this. So a few cheat, and the effort of everyone who created fairly is wasted bc no one in this day and age possess the remarkably simple ability to fact check a contestant's shirt that is being sold on the internet?

I don't understand what you mean by "with the way Game Freak is going"- what way is Game Freak going? In a creative new direction?

There's no reason to end Pokémon, it's still going strong. If they were ever to end it, I would expect a much bigger game experience than Gen 7 offered. Gen 7 was full of new ideas, not endings- as a last installment, it would have been weird.

Then wouldn’t making traditional remakes and adding the walking Pokemon features over to the main series be equal (if not better) in terms of profit and public reception?
We don't know that they've dropped traditional remakes yet and Let's Go appeals to a different group than the main series. Keeping the Let's Go series around would broaden their product offerings and reach more people than just sticking with the one.

It would be a stupid business decision to drop traditional remakes considering they could be there for older fans who want to play a game set in an older region with the stuff added in the newer generations. I can understand Game Freak wanting to create a remake series for newer players, but I don't see why there can only be one remake series. In fact, it will benefit Game Freak a lot more to actually have both remake lines running along with each other, one for new players to enjoy while the other for veterans to play with the newly added stuff.
