This competition has just become more interesting than the games...I mean, really? Another cheater?
Do you think we are gonna get another update on the competition in early June or do we have to wait till E3?
June Corocoro should include the winner, so expect around the 11th-13th as usual, which happens to be during E3 this year.

anyways, if they didn't want the contest to be a mess, they should've had a less stringent rule regarding self-plagiarism.

and the initial trailer for SM had virtually nothing beyond "this game exists" with the May trailer giving us the name of the region and starters. considering that this time the two were combined, information-wise, we're on the same track. we're obviously going to have more information at E3.
Pretty much what Riley said. We've seen absolutely no other characters, no legendaries, and no release date. No one is saying there won't be news at E3, but we usually have a little more info before E3 than what is currently known about Sword & Shield.
If you're asking about the shirt contest, they said they were not going to include any of the designs now.
Oh, I misread. I was referring to the Steel-type move naming contest.

With the way things are looking, it's possible there won't be any official news before E3 in three weeks. I'm hoping for a huge reveal with lots of gameplay footage just like with BotW at E3 2016. Sword and Shield are bound to be one of the Switch's main system sellers for next two years, so I think such a treatment would be fitting. Either way, I'm sure we'll at least get the box art and Legendary mascots by then >_>

They should make sure that the move name has never been used in any fan game, fanfic, doujin and so forth. It's crucial.
People literally created Pokemon called Noibat, Incineroar, and Poipole before their official announcements. GF can't stop themselves from using names that have already been used by fans because they don't actively search out every Fakemon ever created (because that would be a waste of time, money, and effort).

There's quite a difference between a move name (which is usually based on a word or phrase that is too broad to be copyrighted, like Ember or Tackle) being used in a non-profit manner and a graphic design that's clearly one person's property being sold online. (which I imagine is the connection being made) Especially considering the fact that the t-shirt contest explicitly said it was against the rules to reuse designs, while "this phrase must be totally unused prior" is not a rule for the move contest.

So who thinks we might get news in the last week of this month like we did last year for LGPE?
May is not over yet, so there maybe a chance that it will be next week. I always thought it would be around late May before June starts for Pokemon news.

Pretty sure they were joking. XD

Yeah, but unless I'm mistaken, the point of the joke was to poke fun at how people were upset at the t-shirt winner having already used the design. My point is that even though it's obviously unrealistic to expect a move name to have never been used before, a t-shirt design is a lot more specific, and expecting new t-shirt designs is very realistic. (especially when that's what the rules called for)

They created an iffy rule (I can understand "a design not previously used for profit" but not "never previously conceived even in your wildest dreams"), then didn't bother enforcing it when it mattered, and finally crashed the whole party because fans complained. I hope that everyone involved is happy.

Were they even going to pay the winner?

Q 12.Can I submit designs that I have previously entered in other competitions?
There will be no issues if the design is your original work, you own the copyright of the design and you have not signed any contracts/agreements on commoditizing of the design with any companies.
UTGP2019 | Pokémon©

This is a very reasonable rule.

The winner of the Grand Prize, the runner-up, and the 3rd place finalist will be invited to the award ceremony scheduled to be held in Japan, and the "Pokémon World Championship (USA Washington, DC)" scheduled to be held in the summer of 2019. UNIQLO will prepare a round-trip economy class ticket and accomodation near the venue to each winner. The prize money will be as follows. Grand Prize: 10,000 USD 2nd place: 2,000 USD3rd place: 1,000 USDOther prize : 500 USD
