What type would you give it? and what design would you have in mind? (i see some depictions of
My idea was an Electric/Rock Type, whose claws are made of crystal, as a contrast to the usual dull rock colourings. We’ve seen that crystals can be the basis of rock types too (Diancie, Carbink).
It could have a variation of Strong Jaw which boosts claw and slash moves.

After that probably fake full-dex tease I kinda want a saber-tooth and a ground sloth. They could easily tie in with the offense/defense theme of Sword and Shield, and potentially the region's theme of nature vs industry (well, sort of, it's theorized that humans contributed to both species' extinction after the ice age).

That, and I just really like sloths.

I had one more fossil Pokemon idea: what about Maiasaura? It could have a nest/eggs incorporated in its design like a mixture of Chansey and Torterra. It could finally give us a non-mega user of Parental Bond, since its entire name is based around its maternal instincts.
As for type, I was thinking of Grass/Rock but that’s already been done... maybe Psychic/Rock or Fairy/Rock?

Seeing as we are talking about potential new pokemon we'd like to see (but probably never get - sorry but it's the truth). I'm thinking a cassowary pokemon.
For those who don't know what a cassowary is, it's the size of an ostritch only without the neck that has a great horn on it's head.
AND. IT. IS. VICIOUS. AS. ALL. HECK. Seriously, do not get near this bird.
Cassowary Wikipedia Page

Basically a real life pokemon.

I'm still waiting for my dolphin pokemon
Same tbh. When I was like 11 I actually drew up some fakemon and the Water starter was a dolphin lol (Game Freak, get better than 11yo me already, geez)

On the topic of dinosaurs, though, might be super boring but I already got my t-rex with Tyrunt & Tyrantrum.... I'd like some velociraptor and agree with previous posts that Rock/Dark or Rock/Electric could be cool types for it, an ability to boost Slash moves being a must. :p
Ankylosaurus would also be pretty cool imo. In general, maybe a combination of one rather bulky looking and one smaller but quicker dinosaur could be nice. And then I'd also love a minigame like Spectrobes had to get the fossils tbh but that's just my dreams here. I miss Spectrobes

The theme to Sword and Shield is ''The Strongest Pokemon'', which could mean old characters would possibly make an appearance, such as Red, Blue, Lance, Steven, Cynthia, Alder, Iris, Wally, Zinna, Diantha, Hao, Gladeon, etc.

There's a lot of prehistoric creatures I would love to see become fossil Pokemon; Smilodon with Phorusrochus as a counterpart, Velociraptor, Dimetrodan, Indricothere, Liopleurodon (yes, yes I know it's not actually that big), Entelodont, Ankylosaurus, Stegosaurus, Basilosaurus (with an Amblocetus pre-evolution), Maiasaurus, a mammoth (with Deinotherium as a pre evolution), Iguanadon, and Carntotaurus.

Colress could appear as well considering he keeps looking for ways to make Pokemon reach their fullest potential. Seeing how he's the one who gives you the N-Solarizer and N-Lunarizer, machines that he himself created. I can see him doing that with other eligible Pokemon.

So far, every new game since I, with the exception of Ruby & Sapphire, does feature old characters.

We still have two weeks left until E3; not sure if we'll get anything but I hope maybe even something would be nice before E3 or at least SwSH being there (still don't really believe that 'leak' thing floating around).

I much prefer a different kind of gym to something that directly affects the Pokemon themselves such as Mega Evolution or Armoured Forms. A lot of the time, things like Mega Evolution feel tacked-on*, while stuff like Alola's trials at least told us something about the culture/history of the region.
just my opinion, don't shoot... lower your gun now... good Bulbagarden user...

* Lore about Mega Evolution was meant to be shown to us in XY, but we never got anything past "It's done with the power of friendship!" until ORAS. That's probably what made it feel so gimmicky. If you think about it, they could have put the thing about AZ's weapon and how it caused Mega Evolution into XY itself, which would have tied the plot together really nicely. I'm still salty they didn't.

With only two weeks left, I doubt they'll release anything at all to be honest. Might as well save it all for E3.

And even getting something at E3 isn't even a guaranteed thing. TPC could easily opt to wait until after E3 to drop news on us (though it'd be a stupid move to do so). My more pessimistic side is preparing for it.

That's true they could possibly make a new trailer after the E3 buzz fizzles out and have seperate 2 different hype cycles from each other we'll see very soon.
