Prediction for the press conference: They're going to announce a Nintendo Switch Online exclusive game. May it be something like Puzzle League or something completely new. Other than that I doubt them to announce anything else than a little spin-off title. If we are very very lucky then maybe one of the bigger spin-offs like Mystery Dungeon or Ranger but definitely no DP remake like some fans on other websites speculated.

Other than that promotion for the new CGI movie, maybe some news on the Pokemon anime and probably a single new Pokemon or the cover legendaries.

Oh, expecting them to say something about DP remakes is really something totally unrealistic to do. In that regard, I think it would be "less unlikely" them to talk about future plans (as they did last year, "noting that SwSh will be released this year, and that another project is under development for some of the next few years etc."), but even so, I still find it totally unlikely to happen, regarding the main series at least. They probably want the audience to focus on SwSh only now, regarding the main series. They only announced the core game of 2019 last year because Let's Go was a slightly different product, it was a way to ensure the core audience that the core game announced previously at E3 2017 was still in development, I don't think they will ever do it again, unless we have a similar scenario in the future.

About what the conference is going to show, I think it's unlikely to be some little spin-off title only. The 2015 conference wasn't previously announced to the public, and wasn't streamed, and even so we had GO announcement. The 2018 conference was announced a few hours earlier but wasn't streamed, and we had Let's Go. This year's conference was announced more than 24 hours earlier, in all social medias worldwide. And for the first time, it will be streamed live worldwide as well. I find it hard to think that they are doing this much of a big deal just for a little spin-off, unless if you consider Pokémon GO as one.

What time is this thing supposed to happen? I can't remember what the announcement said and I don't wanna go back through all the past pages hunting around for it...

I don't expect nothing, which means I was saying I do expect something. I phrased it as a double negative to specifically point out that some people were saying they expect nothing notably new from the press conference.

Oh! Sorry!

Edit
Masuda retweeted the conference announcement tweet, and asked his followers to watch it:

I would like to make a bingo, but I don't know if it would be worth it, since we may not have anything relevant or even predictable (I mean, there is the possiblity of).

But looking around the community, this is what people are suggesting the most (including unlikely things):

  • New Pokémon Snap for Switch;
  • New Pokémon Mystery Dungeon for Switch and/or for Mobile;
  • Pokémon Stadium Series port for Switch (with compatibility with 3DS RGBY and GSC Virtual Console games);
  • New Pokémon Stadium game for Switch;
  • New Pokémon "Battle Revolution" for Switch;
  • Pokémon GO updates details (about mechanics, or about future updates like Unova);
  • Pokémon Let's Go update;
  • Pokémon Quest update;
  • DeNa and TPC spin-off details;
  • New live action announcement or details;
  • Detective Pikachu port for Switch;
  • New Detective Pikachu game for Switch;
  • Pokémon Bank for Switch;
  • New Pokémon transfer app (like Bank);
  • PokéBall Plus compatibility with SwSh;
  • New PokéBall Plus-like acessory for SwSh;
  • New PokéPark for Switch;
  • New Pokémon Conquest for Switch;
  • New Pokémon Ranger for Switch;
  • New Pokémon Trozei for Mobile;
  • Pokémon TCG App port for Switch;
  • New Pokémon TCG game for Switch;
  • New Pokkén Tournament for Switch;
  • New Pokémon "Colosseum" for Switch;
  • New insert-any-other-Pokémon-spin-off-here for Switch;
  • New Spin-offs;
  • New Pokémon Let's Go game;
  • Details about future projects in general;
  • New animated series.

I put the three most unlikely ones at last. What I'm expecting, personally: New PMD for Switch, new live action official development announcement and DeNa spin-off details.

bringing this to the current page!!

This part made me think of whether there will ever be a Pokemon Pinball 3 ..!!
  • New insert-any-other-Pokémon-spin-off-here for Switch;
The current graphics they can use would allow them to make surrealistic pinball tables that did also appear onscreen to be made from actual materials! :) :)

Oh dang I forgot about Pokemon Pinball. I only ever played the first one but I love Pinball stuff so an up-to-date with all the pokemon Pinball game would be amazing. <3

Since it's a business strategy conference, I expect it to be more of a general thing than a spin-off announcement- I think they likely will announce one, and that it might have something to do with codename koala, but I don't think that it will be the sole focus. They may talk about how they are working on development (aka that misleading original game priority thing) and what direction they intend to take the franchise.

"Nothing" would have to be pretty subjective, since they can't have a press conference about nothing.

That's fair, honestly most of these meetings are just things like, how is pokemon doing economically, what are our strategies for makeing money this year. If it ends up being that kind of thing then I would count that as nothing.

Buuuut the strange thing is that I got an email about this. And everyone involved is encouraging fans to watch this meeting. Which is odd, you generally don't want your everyday consumer to be board to tears by the technical nuances of business strategy. So either TPCi is trying to be more transparent with their business goals or there may be something new that they could be announcing. It certainly is odd to announce that kind of stuff at a business meeting though...unless I'm somehow misunderstanding what this is.

They announced GO, and let's go at similar conference so it could be a spin off announcement. I'm pretty sure there's going to be something for fans, or they wouldn’t be promoting it to them.

Wouldn’t make sense to e-mail every fan about something and it ends up being business mumbo-jumbo.

Oh I don't mean that it's going to be a boring business meeting. I believe that they are revealing new things, new plans, with the intent of getting people excited. I think that this conference will definitely turn up something interesting.

See people keep calling it a press conference but Serebii calls this a "business strategy meeting" that's what's confusing me here. Did a primary source call this a press conference or is it a business meeting?

Not sure, but the way I see it, I think all of them are the same kind of event. From Joe:

I would say:

  • A new spinoff game and maybe an old one sequel on the switch.
  • A major new mobile game.
  • New merchandise.
  • New apps like pokemon Bank.
  • Maybe a crossmedial product, something you can connect both to your phone and gen 8.
  • Maybe something anime/movie related like the beginning of the pokemon cinematic universe.

Thanks for clarifying, I would not consider a press conference to be the same as a business strategy meeting. But I guess it could easily be a lost in translation sort of a thing.

What I would really love is a new installment in the Coliseum/XD series. It’s been so long and I loved those games. But I will say that I hope they wait until after gen 8 drop to release it. I want it to include gen 8 Pokémon.

As a fellow Colosseum/XD fan I approve this message. Though it has recently come to my attention that very few people played those games. And apparently among those who did play them many didn't even like them. So while its disappointing I suspect we're not getting anything connected to Collosseum for a very long time, if every.

Np. I think it's just a way to showcase new huge products (with high monetary return capacity) to both investors and fans at the same time.

Edit: I mean, I'm not sure if there will be investors there. That's my guess. Otherwise it would really be weird to call it that way, as you pointed out.
