Man, Level 5 are such copycats. Whatever Game Freak does, they follow.

- Hey, Game Freak just disappointed their fans tremendously with Dexit. It's our turn.

- You mean it's our turn to show we can do better than them?

- No, I mean we can now do the same thing as Game Freak, and nobody will criticize us, because they did it first!

- But how will our fans feel if we do that?

- Haha, I don't know ¯\(ツ)

Monster collection games were a mistake.
And all these problems started because a Japanese guy wrote a book about a computer that summons demons.

EDIT:

I'm making reference to Aya Nishitani, the guy that wrote Digital Devil Story. The Megami Tensei franchise started as a sequel to the second book, at least until a third book came and made things non-canon. Since MegaTen was the first monster catching game, it all started with him.

Except Pokémon wasn't inspired by some dark Japanese book. it was inspired by Tajiri's bug catching experiences and memories from his childhood.

Damn. Good thing I never finished YW3 I guess? Because I don't think I want to play YW4 if it has that few yokai.

edit: Okay guys, Mr. Merrick also says they'll be patching more of the yokai I'm later (though likely not all of them).

edit 2: in a livestream the ceo said there will be 810 yokai in YW4 eventually.

Apparently the Dynamax Pokemon literally explodes when knocked out... I just witnessed a Dynamax Yamper suicide-bombing itself when defeated...

I guess that’s where Dyna comes from.

*In case anyone wants to see the explosion
I think I’m slightly traumatised.

Where the hell is Team Plasma when you need them? If they were in these games, I'd consider joining if the option were available. #TeamPlasmadidnothingwrong Masuda managed to channel both Thanos and Michael Bay this generation. Also, there should really be self-destruct or explosion levels of after damage whenever that happens, kinda like the "aftermath" ability.

They'll go from 109 to 810? That kind of jump might be unprecedented for any game. 810 wasn't mentioned, but they will add both old and new Yokai via patches, which will most likely be free judging from past games. Hopefully they'll do the localization of the main game in parallel to the updates.

Although I should note that it isn't really just 109 because most of these Yokai have one or two forms that are akin to full-fledged evolution (more so than Megas). The real number should be in the 200-250 range.

Someone said that they are more likely to use HOME since they already have phone but they don't have Switch yet. For me, this is quite the opposite. Sure I DO have a phone but I don't like to use it that much and it has really low memory capacity so I wouldn't load too much stuff in it. Also I DO have Switch and I just love consoles so I'd rather have SwSh than HOME app. I'd like to see HOME on computer since I use my laptop a lot more than my phone ever. Of course the app is important for the "on-the-go" feature and "accesable everywhere" but I just don't like this new era of smartphones where everything is now in your phone.

Pokémon Home is also a app for your Switch to use, seeing you need to use to transfer accepted Pokémon into Sword and Shield. Your phone is just another extra device for Home as the Switch is also considered a "mobile" device.

I just noticed something (not good at all). When I first saw scorbunny using flame charge during the gym battle, I thought they did a good job with the new animation of that move with Scorbunny running towards the opponent and then coming back. Then I watched the threehouse raid battle and I noticed that Arcanine, while doing the same move, just stands there without doing any charge. So I watched it entirely and noticed that the beam of water for scald or the beam for solar beam have been cut too. Ludicolo absorbs the light and then a flash of light appears over steelix (a flash of water in case of scald).
Basically, probably because of the different size of the pokemon, all damaging moves animations have been stylized to a simple animation of steelix being hit by a flash of light the reflects in colour the type of the move.
And finally I noticed something even worse.
WHEN YOU ARE FIGHTING AGAINST A DYNAMAXED POKEMON IN THE GYM SCORBUNNY FLAME CHARGE IS STYLIZED TOO. THE ONLY MOVES THAT ARE PROPERLY ANIMATED ARE THE MAX MOVES.

It could be that these are very much early development or placeholder versions of the animations, as they did specifically state the reason for cutting the national dex was so they could focus more on that.

No. When you are fighting against a dynamaxed pokemon all the damaging moves are stylized to a flash of light. That's because the pokemon are different in size and they didn't program the animation of moves of a normal pokemon to hit a giant pokemon. They just made them all look like a flash of light that hits the dynamaxed pokemon.

They mentioned "expressiveness". For all we know, that might mean entry/fainting (especially for giant Pokemon) and PokeCamp animations above all else.

Unless it’d have an important role in the plot, I don’t see why they’d bother to portray Melmetal specifically on the map.

It’s more likely to be a portrayal of the Dynamax phenomenal in general, or the hypothetical third legendary (from which the Dynamax energy might come), in my opinion.

Which Pokemon from Gen 6 and 7 do you think will be available in the Galar Pokedex? Those are some of the best Pokemon period IMO.

Here's my favorite (which I don't expect to appear):

I'm likely late to this, however, I saw a video from Famitsu I believe, playing a demo of Sword and Shield and battling a gym. The way he worded his sentence pretty much implied that we are definitely forced to wear a sports uniform for Gym battles (We've seen them wearing that attire in trailers before, but it was never confirmed that we HAD to wear it).

I'm not sure how others feel about that, but I personally hate being forced to wear an outfit, especially for important battles like gym battles. Pokeride outfits were annoying enough. I get that the gyms are fully fledged stadiums now, but the idea of being forced to wear a sporting attire when I would much prefer wearing a much cooler outfit, is something I really dislike. I'm hoping we aren't also forced to wear specific clothing when facing the elite four and the Champion (I will have my final showdown with the Champion and become most powerful trainer in Galar, wearing an awesome trench coat, not a uniform!).
