If this game is everything the rumours are saying with a Kanto reimagining, i'd still call it "gen 8". Its on the new system, being the switch, but more importantly it wont be able to trade or battle directly with any 3DS due to the hardware limitations.

With this and USUM adding new pokemon, they really are breaking the traditional "generation" mold. But I guess that was always a fan label anyway.

So interestingly, I read that during today's fan meeting, Masuda hesitantly did confirm a new game in production, but quickly changed the topic to ask the crowd who all already had a Switch, and even told people that didn't have one to go buy one soon.

I read somewhere they talked about how Ultra Necrozma's design came to be, I'm quite interested in that I hope some more thorough account pops up in the next hours.

Not to fire up the release year discussion again, but i was and am pretty sure we will get a game this year and gamefreak is probably themself more or less sure of that. I always thought that „or later“ part is just them playing safe just in case something doesn‘t go according to plan, so the latest release possible would be like some others pointed out early 2019
