Official Pre-Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield Speculation & Leaks thread

Status
Not open for further replies.
Most leaks declared their games to be Game Freak's first Switch games. The content might not be enough to prove them fake, but statements like that certainly do.

I wonder what it will take to finally put +- to rest? Geno claimed the game was well into development (story, features, and new Pokémon were all ready to be leaked) in 2014. He also claimed they would be Gen 7, and had no knowledge of ORAS, SuMo, USUM, or LGPE, citing XY as the game to bring Pokemon from. (And that's skipping his errors on other games) At what point do we let it go?
These two leaks right here don't say this, so they should be kept alive

IRUV "Freelancer From The Future" Leaker (October 2016)
Pokemon Infrared and Ultraviolet are the titles of the Generation 8 games
It's a reboot similar to what Generation 5
The region is based on Ancient China
The starters are a Grass Lemur called Leefmur , Fire Snake called Coaboa, and a Water Bear called Ursea
The evil team is called Team Rift
Gyms are returning
There is no Anime
The box legends are a Steel/Ghost Cobra for Infrared and Water/Ghost Hornet for Ultraviolet

I just hope that the LGPE sub series isn't going to replace traditional remakes like ORAS.

... I'm actually hoping it does.

I don't feel like continuing to play through the same regions I've already played through with only superficial revisions to certain sections of the storyline and gameplay.

But I've never really understood, at least in my personal opinion (it's just my opinion and I'm entitled to it) why on Earth the fandom is so obsessed with remakes that introduce little to no original content.
Do we really need a 1-to-1 remake of DPPt with the only meaningful change being that's in it full HD 3D?
I'm all for more non-traditional takes on older games, provided they don't interfere with the actual core series experience.

To be honest, as long as the game follows the path of the traditional ones, I don’t care much about which leak might be true or not.

I do wonder if having LGPE might mean that we’d get an increased difficulty with the Gen 8 campaign.
I hope so. By having lets go be casual, the main series can shed some of that and become more mature

I already made a list of fake and real leaks earlier today. Here is it again:
Thankfully we can put many many leaks in the fake pile.
I know it’s busy for the mods currently, but here's a list of the confirmed Fakes so the work is easier for them. @Pyrax
Real leaks:
Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee (of course)
PokeJungle Chinese leaks have currently 2 out of 3 correct points
Chinese Leak 3.0

Fake leaks:
Trailer Leak (March 2018)
Polish Leak (January 2018)
Unknown Twitter leak imo should be removed since it has nothing of substance. Same goes for Chinese Forum.
YouTube Leak (December 2017)
Reddit leak should be remove imo since it contains nothing of substance.
Switch leaker (September 2017)
Dex Leak (May 2017)
IRUV Freelancer
Anonymous Leaker (Augur 2017)
Regions Region leak is also most probably fake.

I do think that, if their intention with LGPE is to have two mainline parallels series, that we’ll see more games in the future like LG in Johto and the rest.

I guess we’ll know if they won’t add Jean Pokémon to LGPE after launch. It they’re not added, it’ll definitely mean they plan to make new ‘remakes’ on the LG kind.

I already made a list of fake and real leaks earlier today. Here is it again:
Dex Leak and IRUV "Freelancer from the Future" leaks are still unconfirmed, because they neither say that the games are coming out in 2018 or the games are the first games on the Switch.

I don't understand this fandom... I love this new games, yes, they have bad things, but they look really fun.

Skip then if you want guys, but im going to enjoy them I don't know why you are expecting anything else, it's the same as always with the damn Hype season, and as always, in about 2 or 3 years everyone will be saying that the games were nice.

PS: im sorry if I sound rude, im very tired of this community and also im sorry if my english was bad, im just woke up 2 mins ago XD
Hard core fans like me will "have" to buy it if they have exclusives stuff that are relevant to core games. Also they referred to these games as main series so for all we know this is the new standard for Pokemon. Given that it takes away more than it adds we should be livid if it becomes the new normal.

Dex Leak and IRUV "Freelancer from the Future" leaks are still unconfirmed, because they neither say that the games are coming out in 2018 or the games are the first games on the Switch.
Reasons I think the Dex Leak is fake:

1. Complete Dex leaks are really really rare.
2. I doubt they finalised all the Pokemon in 2017.
3. Do you really think that the Cosmog line and Tapus are going to be a part of another regional Dex?

If they're throwing a bunch of old legends in the regional dex, then yes. Also, the game was probably in development around the same time as USUM, and finalizing all the Pokemon is part of the planning phase, the first step of development. Also, the Marble Leak does gain credibility, as it was the only leak to say that Gen 8 is coming out in 2019.

Unconfirmed, but almost definitely false. A Pokedex leak? No anime?

And before anyone brings up the Japanese Riddler, she supported Piuk's claims and that included localizing the 2018 games.

I'm pretty sure Legendaries have not been a part of another region's Dex just because (I may be wrong, I haven’t checked my facts so feel free to correct me if it isn’t the case).

You’re forgetting that they had to develop LGPE too. And the fact that I don’t think a full Dex can get leaked so much time in advance.

(And if you’ve read my list I haven’t listed Marble leak amongst fakes)

I broadly agree with this, but personally I still want to see Sinnoh sooner than I want to see Johto or especially Hoenn again.

Quite a few of those leaks may be for the 2019 game, because they don't specify a release date. They include:
IRUV "Freelancer from the Future" leaker
Dex Leak
Unverified Chinese Leak
YouTube Leak
Marble Leak

But still, every leak that states that something other than LGPE is coming next year should be thrown out. They include:
Anonymous Leaker
Switch Leaker
YouTube leak is fake now too, they wouldn't do 2 Kanto remakes in a row

Can we get Plus and Minus leak out of the 'Fake' pile? It seems like an exceptional case to me, and I think it 'deserves' to be in the unconfirmed column when we've had every random 4chan leak there.

Plus and Minus leak has lots more going on for it than the Reginos and Marble leaks, for instance- since it’s universally agreed upon that Mewthree and no anime are unlikely.

It also predicted the Switch's hybrid nature.

Plus&Minus were implied by the leaker to be the games to follow up XY. It forgot about the existence of four paired games that followed XY. Also, by saying that Gen 8 is coming out in 2019, the Marble Leak gains credibility.

Do you really think that there'll be no anime?
And before you say 'Traditions are breaking', it isn’t a tradition but the business decision.
The anime is Pokemon's marketing bread and butter.
EDIT: confused it with another leak. Please ignore this point.

Plus&Minus were implied by the leaker to be the games to follow up XY. It forgot about the existence of four paired games that will follow XY.

It did not give any specific timeline. By your own logic, the Dex Leak is fake since if forgot about the existence of USUM and LGPE.

The whole coming out in 2018 thing could be the result of confusion so I don't think those should count as fakes. We can be positive that the new game won't be Kanto, so that's the main way for losing credibility. Weren't a lot of leakers confused about some things? It seems like we have to separate what was LGEP and what wasn't. Leaks might be a mix of the two.

Well, here's a line straight from Plus&Minus: Pokemon Bank are actual locations on the Mainland and Handheld areas where people can import past Pokemon, mainly from Pokemon X and Pokemon Y into the new game.”

They wouldn't say that if there were four paired games to follow up XY.
