Official Pre-Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield Speculation & Leaks thread

Guys. No one wanted to offend anyone, let's just forget this all thing and go back to speculation.
How is responding with
"So ignoring that"
not wanting to offend someone?
How is calling the home of 1.8 million people a fraction, and dismissing their culture not being offensive?

And
might as well be looking at holiday pictures and only focusing on Pikachu holding a sceptre again.
is quite clearly a dig at other contributors on this thread as well.

Northern Ireland is home to 1.8 million people, that's more than 13 US states and DC.

LOL; which 13 US states did you pick? Even West Virginia has that many people; freakin West Virginia. I'm sorry, I don't have anything against what you are trying to this, but LOL. This is such a random comparison. (But, no, seriously which 13?)

How is calling the home of 1.8 million people a fraction, and dismissing their culture not being offensive?

Nobody dismissed their culture; the only impression I got from people was that saying a potential announcement on St. patty's day means a UK announcement isn't really logical because there's more to the UK than just Ireland just like there is more to the UK than just British royalty.

St Patrick is 1 of the 4 patron saints of the United Kingdom, he also happens to be the most famous, it's a major holiday celebrated across the world.

Northern Ireland has 1.875 million

As the basis of Alola is one of these on the list obviously GameFreak don't have an aversion to focusing on "fractions"

I just hope the Hoenn region gets remade again in Gen 8 even though I know its a pipe dream, and either Johto or Sinnoh is probably next in line since Hoenn already got remade recently.

I hope they at least bring Wally back. I like him.

Is talking about ROMs forbidden in this forum? Just asking since I don't want to get banned.

I really want to go to Hoenn.

We only just had Hoenn remakes 4 years ago. If you own a 3DS or 2DS you can go to Hoenn any time you want.
They still sell it in the shops.

Oh this is tiring... I elected to ignore it because I can see that you're intent on making something be offensive that isn't inherently offensive.

St. Patrick's Day is commonly associated with Ireland. Part of Ireland (as in the island) is part of the UK, but most outside of Ireland and the UK don't associate St. Patrick's Day with the UK- they associate it with Ireland. Just Ireland. I never specified the Republic of Ireland, I never dismissed Northern Ireland, I just said that it's associated primarily with Ireland. So to treat St. Patrick's Day as being representative of the UK- especially from a foreigner's perspective- doesn't make a lot of sense.

I am so sorry to everyone that this thread got derailed by this.

OOOOHHHHH; okay. I interpreted that completely differently. I thought you were adding up the totals of 13 states plus DC *WOOSH*

Again; I totally support your position that Ireland is an important part the UK; I was just trying to give a different view point/interpretation of other people's comments.

Just so we're clear are we also saying that if Spain is a region all of Catalonia and basque country will be cut from the map? And if we say greece is the region where do draw the limit? Istanbul/Constantinople would be a phenomenal City for a game but by modern politics would be atrocious to include in a Greek inspired game

I am so sorry to everyone that this thread got derailed by this.

I think you should instead apologise to the other contributors on the thread you hit with your dig about "go back to looking at holiday photos and pictures of Pikachu with a sceptre".

As I explained before, St Patrick is 1 of the four patron saints of the United Kingdom, he is the most famous one, his cross is a key component of our national flag.
You may not have been aware of this, that's ok, but when someone points them out to you don;t just rudely dismiss them, it's disrespectful. If someone says you've made an offensive remark, act in good faith and say it wasn't intentional, it was a mistake etc, don't double down and start attacking other members of the thread not even involved in the conversation.
This is supposed to be a friendly environment for all fans, not a forum for cheap digs.

I was not aware of St. Patrick being one of the four patron saints of the United Kingdom, but it also was not relevant to my point of St. Patrick's Day not being widely associated with the UK.

And I was not trying to make a dig with the sceptre thing, I was just referencing our previous example of people focusing too closely on one part of a greater picture, trying to make it fit their expectations. If we're going to go squinting too closely at something looking for ties, then yes, we might as well go back to picking out part of a picture and toting it about as undeniable proof.

What I'm saying is to back up and consider everything as a whole rather than in fragments.

Now let's drop this so we can go back to speculating in a friendly environment not heated by taking offense to what's associated with what?

So ignoring that...

What opportunities do we have for pokemon reveals? We've got the anime, the Mewtwo movie, the Detective Pikachu movie...

Probably won't get another Pokemon GO reveal again, since they're so many generations behind and we already got their GO-specific snowflake.

I think one of the more interesting reveals of last gen was Mareanie featured on the TCG box, but that's so obviously a slip up that I don't think it would ever be done again intentionally.
I say a random Corocoro announcement atm.
I can see them randomly breaking the news
That or a random Pokemon-centric direct in the coming weeks

I rather hope that we'll be seeing something in February- it feels like a good time for it. That or March... but it's gonna be the March issue of CoroCoro next month anyway, so does that count as a March reveal on technicality? XD

What do you guys think about the relative probabilities of Spain, Great Britain, and China being the next region of focus? What do you guys think about the Crown accessory in Let's Go being perhaps an indication of the future. Or is it just an item put in for fun? I've heard that Ryuki is possibly from Spain or China but what is the general consensus on his original location? Up until today, I thought that perhaps Meltan's body being inspired from Mercury would clue us in on the next region being China but it seems as though Meltan and Melmetal are Gen 7 pokemon. Are they considered Gen 7 or Gen 8 pokemon? This confuses me a little bit because Bonsly was playable in Pokemon XD, which is very similar to the Meltan and Melmetal's placement. And Pokemon really hasn't done anything quite like this (putting brand new Pokemon in a not-Main series game) except as previously mentioned, in XD. What do you guys think? What is a good estimate of the number of possible new pokemon? Less than 100 or greater than 100? Perhaps Black and White level?

Personally, I'm feeling good about Spain being the next region but I'm not ready to drop my bet in on it yet.

As for Meltan- there's specifics regarding its numbers that make it pretty clear that it's intended to be a Gen 7 pokemon:
  • Apparently starting in Gen 6, they started the generation's asset numbers off at the next hundred. So Gen 6 pokemon started off at 700 and Gen 7 skipped from where Gen 6's assets left off to start at 800. Meltan's asset number is 891, so that would make it part of Gen 7. Gen 8 should be starting at 900, which will be the ultimate lynchpin in ending the debate for good.
  • Plus its National Dex number follows right after Zeraora at #808. The only instance of a mythical skipping ahead of its generation in the pokedex is Victini, and that is likely because it was the Victory Pokemon and coming in first was kind of its thing.
I thought it was going to be our first Gen 8 pokemon too, but it doesn't look like it. =(

Also expecting less than 100 new pokemon after the last two generations seem to have set a trend, but I guess we'll see? Kinda hoping for it, because they'll make up for the rest of it with something like new regional variants instead. We never get less than 100 new designs, at least.

We only just had Hoenn remakes 4 years ago. If you own a 3DS or 2DS you can go to Hoenn any time you want.
They still sell it in the shops.

I don't have a 3DS and I would need to make my own money (still a uni student). Meh, I will just watch some playthroughs on YouTube. Its close enough for me really.

So, I kind of gave up on that leak I was writing, but this is what I ended up with:
pokemonPIG.PNG

I was going to try to cross post it to some other forum site, but I feel weird about it.

So umm...look at this totally legit leak I found on 4chan. The thread got deleted immediately and now that user is banned. I'm sure this pastebin will disappear in a few days too, so I screenshot it for safe keeping. Any thoughts? (Have mercy on me, I really did try. I loosely had a country in mind when writing it. I'd like to see if anyone can guess).

Edit: periods, because apparently I'm allergic to them

Can't think of what country you were going for off the top of my head, but I like the wolf and peacock legendaries. XD
The dungeons and carnival thing sounds like it could be fun.

Bear starter is totally Honoguma.

People dismissing it because "it doesn't follow the Zodiac trend" in 1, 2...
But wait! If Honoguma is the fire starter, then it looks somewhat like Pikachu! That means that it might be partially based on a pika! Pika are lagomorphs, therefor related to rabbits and... voila! Zodiac theory achieved. =)

I ruined Honoguma for myself by doing this. =( I want my bear.
