Only one week remains to purchase Pokémon games from the eShop on 3DS and Wii U - service ends on March 27th

There's only seven days remaining for 3DS owners to purchase games from the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U eShops before both services shut down on the 27th of March, 2023. Though purchased games can still be downloaded after this point, this means that Pokémon fans will have to move swiftly to get their hands on a wide range of games that are only widely available via Nintendo eShop, including Virtual Console versions of classics such as Pokémon Red and Blue and Pokémon Gold and Silver. Notably, this list also includes Pokémon Bank; though Bank (and its associated DLC, the Poké Transporter) cannot be downloaded after this date, the Pokémon Bank service will become free of charge for users who have already downloaded it by this date.

Players are encouraged to visit the eShop while they still can, so that they are not limited to expensive second-hand physical copies when wanting to delve into Pokémon video game history. While the ability for players to add funds to their Nintendo eShop account via Wii U and 3DS ended back in August 2022, players can still add funds to their wallet via the Nintendo Switch eShop by linking the Nintendo Network ID they used on their Wii U and 3DS systems to the Nintendo account they currently use on Nintendo Switch. The merged wallet balance can then be shared across all three systems. For those who don't have any money left in their eShop accounts, this is now the only way to make paid purchases on those systems.
