OK, then Orre is based on Orre. Although Wiki says that it's based off Arizona, and Bulbapedia says that it's based off Chugoku.

I reckon Orre is an awesome region. Reminds me of my trips out to the middle of Australia. Where's it's all dry and devoid of life, like Orre 8D

But I reckon it's just because Orre is so dry. And based on Arizona's desert.

Great because it has nothing noteworthy? It's just a desert. No flora, no water, no remarkable landmarks. It's just a bunch of dirt.
