I'm beginning to think that after reading the gym descriptions for the BW games. It's gonna be interesting to see how Dento's gym and pokemon will translate in the anime.

Judging that he is a sommelier, I assume his pokemon, if the gym isnt based on types anymore, will be based on a specific pokemon or a specific move.

But it could be different scenes.

That's what I think and I hope it is. I don't want the writers to have Iris do something that Dawn did. It should be left Dawn's thing, you know? Plus, they should try something new instead of a rehash.

I'm surprised no one is talking about Wotter.

Look at those eyes. What's wrong with it?

I wonder where that scene is from. I doubt Iris gets a starter, and I doubt Ash enters Iris's lab, so maybe it involves another trainer or it's just Yew in her lab.

Mijumaru is the cutest of Isshu's starters, that's why. :p

I think Iris will get Pokabu. She's technically a starting trainer, so she should be able to pick from a starter even if she already has Kibago.

I don't know why they would do that. That does bring up the possibility that perhaps gym leaders don't train particular types of pokemon, but that is better saved for the black and white section.

I doubt that gyms will suddenly have a variety of types to deal with. They've been sticking to the one type per gym for 4 generations now. I dubt that they'll change.

I don't really know though... Considering that she already has a Kibago, a Pokémon who's type is usually found within the hands of more experienced trainers. Iris might not be a begining trainer and is eligible for a starting Pokémon...

However, nothing is stopping her from obtaining a wild one. Brock caught his Mudkip this way, and Ash obtains his usual Grass starter in this fashion.

I just really don't think Iris will get a starter. I think Kibago will play the role of her starter.

I'm inclined to agree.

I think after two series, we're getting another duo of experienced trainers. They aren't rehashing the old "New Trainer on a new journey" theme it looks like. Dento is of course a Gym Leader and Iris has her Kibago, which could be her friend, her first Pokemon, and her partner all wrapped up in one, like one of those "Characters of the Day".

This puts an interesting spin on the start of Ash's journey. No doubt he'll meet up Professor Araragi, but whether or not she gives up one of her starters is another matter.

Yes, Iris and Kibago are buddy-buddy BFFs, we get it. And that makes her different from Ash and Pikachu how? Makes her exempt from a starter-class Pokemon how?

I agree, I could still see her getting a starter.

I'd like it if Professor Argragi gave Ash a starter this time, it'd be different and I think fun ^^

I don't know if they ever reveal yet.. But is Iris the same age as Ash or younger?

In the BW preview she looks like she's younger (than "10"), while Dento is older.

Kibago always seemed like her starter to me. Guess they're gonna pull a Special.

Probably because when professors give out starters they're giving the trainer their first pokemon and since Iris already has Kibago I think it's gonna work as her "starter", otherwise she could have just captured Kibago later on. I seriously think that Ash might get all three starters this time and fully evolve all three of them.

Like this:

Iris: "Professor, can I have a starter Pokemon?"
Araragi: "No! *smack*"

I would laugh so hard if that happened.

I just think it would be better if every main character didn't get a starter this time, that way we aren't repeating the same pokemon like we did in DP. (Paul's Torterra, Kenny and Barry's Empoleons)

Me neither, but this time, I get the feeling that the starters wont get a repeat like in DP.

If they do give Ash all three, I want him to evolve all three fully. I wouldn't mind Iris having Larvitar alike as a starter, but it doesn't entirely exclude her from having one of the real starters. If she doesn't, I'll be fine with it. Dento is the biggest mystery since he could have anything at the moment, and his role would definitely seem to give him free reign over any kind of pokemon there is. There doesn't seem to be an easy answer, but I probably should've expected that. The only help we could get now is if they started showing Ash and the starters, which I don't really see them doing until the league is over.

Or maybe they could give one starter to Ash, another starter to a rival, and a starter to another rival if they give him more than one rival next saga. So it could be how it is in BW where the player character gets one and Belle and Cheren get the other two.

I dunno, but I don't really wanna see Ash have all the starters... There's supposedly going to be a lot of Pokemon this generation so reserving three slots for the starters seems like a boring idea. I hope he gets Mijumaru then gets some other Fire-type and Grass-type, if he has to get those types lol.

The starters have always been on the main cast so if Ash only gets one then the other two will be split up between Dento and Iris. I want Ash to get all 3 only if he fully evolves all three of them.

I'd prefer Ash to get one or two. I kinda liked having another non-starter on the team. Corphish was great and Buizel was pretty cool too. Maybe we can have another one except this time...a grass type.

As long as Ash gets Mijumaru, I'll be happy, Shell Blading Mijumaru third stage evo FTW!

The other starter or starters left can go to Iris only or Dento only (if Ash gets 2) or split up between all three characters.
