I would enjoy if Brock still kept in touch with Ash though.

Why would Brock, "keep in touch" with Ash? If Brock's gone, we'll likely never hear from him again unless he gets a cameo arc of some kind.

And the BW trio is bound to feel a lot more fresh than the DP trio did simply because Brock is gone.

I'm very intrigued about Best Wishes. It looks like it might be pretty good, but I hope Paul and Barry find there way to Isshu. They were the best rivals in my opinion.

Paul and Barry have no chance of continuing on to BW at all. And their rivalries are done.

I could see Paul getting a very small cameo arc, but even that is a long shot.

We can all agree that fresh faces are good. I love Brock, he's my favorite character, so why should Dento be just like him?

And about Iris and her hair, I don't mind the color, and I understand that it need to be extremely big for Pokemon to fit inside of it, but I don't find it appealing. But thumbs up for her being darker.

I'm interested in seeing the Dento/Iris dynamic, personally, and wondering how Ash will fit in. He'll do what he usually does - gyms, most likely. & what is up with this "Pokemon musical" thing I keep hearing? I think I'm severely out of the loop when it comes to that.

The Pokemon Musical seems to be what will replace Contests, with Pokemon doing musical numbers instead of appeals.

Dento might do those due to his more flamboyant nature, if they even put them in the anime.

We're just wondering what Iris will do. She can't be introduced just to do nothing.

I can't imagine her doing contests (if they're even still around - I mean, this musical thing is very LULZY).

If anything happens, I could possibly see her doing the battling schematic closer to Ash. Or she could be very confused/against/rebellious against that people even do such things with Pokemon. She seems down to earth, in the most literal sense, and may just want to bond with her Pokemon through rough, outdoors battling.

throw something new on the table. There definitely doesn't need to be the Battle/League-Coordinator-Musical triangle.

I don't see Iris doing contests either. Her design doesn't imply it.

Dento on the other hand looks like a male coordinator, so the musicals would be up his alley.

Try sticking her in a fluffy dress - there's no way that could happen.

Dento being a coordinator would suit him perfectly, but of course, that's what everyone is expecting. If this musical thing is a new concept, someone will be doing it.

It'll be odd if Ash's male sidekick gets a major role for once. Brock, Tracey and Max always played second fiddle to Ash and the female character.

Dento getting more or equal screentime to Iris would be a change.

Ash will always be the focus, which I'm surprised he lasted this long; I guess the old dog has its new tricks with every season. Somehow.

Then again, every time a girl comes around, there's always a Pokemon that even steals the spotlight away from her, whether it be short term or long term. Misty's Togepi, May's Torchic (until it evolved), and we mustn't forget Pippy Piplup. In fact, I pay attention more to that Piplup than Dawn.

If Iris and her hair hiding Pokemon become a dynamic, I'm just wondering what spotlight stealing it will do.

Why not just let his character be his own thing and stand out completely from Brock?

Having too many similarities will just make people mad that Brock was replaced by a clone instead of a fresh character.

Agreed, this already seems abit like rehash considering how first gym leader from Isshu will be joining group like Brock did, convenienly being educated enough like previous character to give advices being waiter who very possibly could cook for group.

If they make him even more similar to Brock,he will just be a copy which will dissapoint many people.

Speaking of gym leaders too bad that none of original ones from Kanto who travelled with Ash probably wont be anymore in show.

Ever hear of a character named Brock?

I doubt they would replace Brock with another character, not giving him more of involvment in current show, and on big part how much Dento will receive screentime depends on his goal.If he has active goal being like trainer, coordinator or something else he will battle and compete more which means getting more screentime, than someone like breeders or watchers for example do.

Speaking of Brock, its not fair to labell him as someone who "didnt do nothing".He didnt get much screentime, but he served as mentor for this show and coach to Ash,aswell cooking and taking care of group. He also did important things having notable achievements while being in show(like helping that maid in Miltank caffe, playing role in Team Galactic arc in DP etc),but problem is these moments were rare being passed/ignored by most people.

We already know Dento isn't doing Contests/Musicals, so I'm not sure why that's even being discussed. Iris is the one that's going to be doing that.

May I know why are you so sure about it?

The official site revealed nothing about their paths or goals, than only about their characteristics. Besides, I can't imagine Iris in a musical/contest, since her design is an exactly opposite of Dawn's. Yeah, she cute and all (and she swings vines), but musicals/contests - not her thing. Unless she gets a makeover which I highly doubt.

I don't care if Dento's a cook like Brock was or that he's the first gym leader like Brock was. The only they can make this character better than Brock was is to give him a tangible goal like being a top coordinator.

At least with the first gym leader joining the group we'll get the first badge out of the way real quick.

Because we already know Dento is the third wheel of the group and a Pokemon Sommelier.
So, Dento is basically Brock with only cooler design and probably better personality? That sucks! D:

Well to be fair, Dento does look like someone you'd see working in some sort of fancy restaurant. I think it would almost guarantee that he would be a good chef.

As a Sommelier, maybe he'll also serve the gang wine. So the group will probably be traveling & battling drunk the next 4 years. For people complaining about the group's chemistry, well it would lead to some interesting ones here...

He probably will. But it will likely be off-screen.

I kinda doubt they will have 2 guys in the group with a quest while the girl in the group becomes the 3rd wheel. Seems to me, if Dento will have a quest, Iris will have a quest. If Iris has a quest, it doesn't necessarily mean Dento will. Though, yeah I can't picture Iris doing something like contest/musical. But who knows..

Because we already know Dento is the third wheel of the group and a Pokemon Sommelier.

Except (at the bolded part), why would that prevent Dento from being in contests or whatever the the secondary goal would be in the games?

I mean unlike Brock, I really can't see Dento just bending over and not doing anything over 200 episodes. He is/will/was a gym leader, I don't see why he would quit being a gym leader just like that. From what we see, Dento seems like he has Barry's personality (only if a little milder), and I doubt Barry would ever take a backseat. If anything Barry would be trying to do anything.

And I can't ever remember anything saying Iris was doing contests or doing anything important (outside of maybe impacting the overarching plot that's neither related to Gyms or Contests). I'm not sure I like this narrow-minded thinking (applies to the writers if Iris does end up doing something like Ash) that says only main character girls get to be in a secondary goal with Ash. Otherwise replacing Brock, was pointless. I mean sure argue that Brock was boring, and overused, but did we need to replace him with an expy? Couldn't it be someone who isn't a gym leader? And be someone who doesn't apparently gives up being a gym leader? I know it was only Brock, but we seriously don't need Dento at all. He's entirely unnecessary if he's just going to be Brock 2.0 (regardless of what may be different).

And then, that of course begs the question, Dento is the gym leader in the games, the first one. If Dento is easily in the first 3 episodes, how is he going to join Ash and Iris? And then who is Ash going to battle for his first gym? I suppose Dento could just be on the TV set and excites Ash, and then perhaps 10+ episodes later Ash battles Dento, wins, and then he joins the cast. I suppose there's the possibility Dento can travel with Ash and Iris in the beginning, and have a proper gym battle later but I'm not sure that would go too well.

I think I'm starting to dislike Best Wishes less, and less, instead of more. I mean I really can't see why a gym leader/Pokemon Sommelier would be turned into Brock and another girl doing what Dawn/May did (even if it is Pokemon musicals which is going to have the same format as contests). Being Brock doesn't suit Dento nor does contests/musicals suit Iris. I just cannot see Iris being interested in that sort of thing at all.

Edit: Oh and something different, isn't Best Wishes starting with a one hour special on the 23rd? I heard it from a reliable source who's usually never wrong (then again it is hard to tell if he/she is speculated, or actually saying something as fact since I believe English is not their first language).

I don't care what that does for the 16th, but wasn't it confirmed Best Wishes has a one hour special on the 23rd?
