Ash's birds usually don't have much personality, so I don't see much hope there.

Well than that will be easy to give it a personality the others dont. Ash's birds do have personality the writers just seem to scrap them after a few episodes(Noctowl being smart and tricky)

Noctowl had a personality in its debut ep. Once it was captured it had absolutely zero personality and did nothing but pop TR's balloon.

Ash really doesn't need to capture the BW bird.

^ Swellow and Corphish are two of the most popular Pokemon Ash has ever owned in the series, so I think the writers made the right decision back then.

I respect that you feel that way about them, but I don't think that everyone think that highly of Swellow and Corphish. It just comes off as a bit much to say that they're two of the most popular Pokemon Ash has ever owned in the series. I'm not sure if I like them that much myself. Swellow did have more battles than Staraptor that I can recall now, but Staraptor has a much better moveset. Corphish was kind of funny, but I think I kind of prefer Totodile's cute/happy humor. It might tied with Buizel in terms of neat battles, despite Buizel losing more often after the fourth Gym.

Ash getting the new BW bird would be beyond repetitive though.

Pokemon has always been repetitive, so Ash getting Mamepato would not be surprising. In fact, after giving him the first main bird and at least the grass starter for four generations, I would be really shocked if Ash didn't get Mamepato and Tsutaja for his team. Yes, he has plenty of strong Flying and Grass types, but that didn't stop them from continuing that cycle all these years. I do hope that Ash gets Mijumaru since it's so cute and I want him to have a fully evolved Water starter for once, but I'd be okay with someone else in the cast catching it. As long as it doesn't turn into a Piplup-like character that is.

Seriously, every episode was like "TEAM ROCKET HAS A BLIMP! NOCTOWL! FLY UP AND POP IT!". Atleast all the other birds he had did something BESIDES blimp popping. Even pidgeot, which if memory serves, he released kinda early showed tons more personality in it's time the show. I'm sorry, Noctowl annoys me...

Not a corphish fan but swellow was awesome! EDIT: Yeah Swellow is my favorite regional bird by far..

Why are people discussing Satoshi's old Pokemon in the Best Wishes thread? This is not to decide which birds were most popular or not.

Back on topic please.

Yeah, ya bird-brains!

If by some mystical chance we get Pokemon that are not the typical set Ash gets each generation then great, amazing, hurray. But if it's the same stuff, I hope people don't throw fits. Part of the reason why it's cool to see him work within those parameters is figuring out which Pokemon would work well. And when it's obvious, the fun parts are deciding how each Pokemon will operate. Ash with a Mamepoto OR a Wargle would be sweet either way.

I didn't see these on the main site yet, but here are some new TV-Tokyo clips for the Pokemon: Best Wishes series.

Meguroko
Mamanbou
Shikijika

They're the same style of mini-clips that are present here:

http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/pokemon_bw/pokemon.html

I have to say, maybe they blew their budget on the final League episodes, but I can't stand the animation. It's way too cardboard-y and unfluid.

I wonder if I'm one of the few people who don't really care or notice if the animation is 'different than usual', 'not as good as other episodes', or similar...

But anyway... Shikijika is friggin adorable in that clip. x.x

You make that sound almost like an insult.

Sure, there are other things to enjoy about an episode. But... this is going to be a new series. Wouldn't it make sense to get the best animation directors and storyboarders on the job? Let me know if you still feel the same way after viewing the Paul battle finale in the future, which is shaping up to have rip-snortin' good animation.

Oh god. I just wish...they toned down on the hair for Iris. It looks like Cookie Monster mistook her for a snack x.x;

I wonder what that thing the Meguroko were surrounding is. I got a bad guy feel from it.

I'm surprised we're getting a look at Mamanbou early on in the series. Hopefully it's just a "This is Isshu." shot and none of the characters are looking at them...

Oh my gosh Shikijika is so cute! It's like I'm watching an old school Disney cartoon.

He looks like a Blonde haired Paul to me and he has similar hair to Paul and Conway he's apparently going to act similar to Paul right?

Shikijika looks really cute in that preview and the Mamanbou look pretty cool as well it looks like they travel in school's similar to its pre-evolution but a lot of other fish do as well so it's nothing special. I wonder what those Meguroko are up to in the preview it looks like all of them are trying to flip over that machine or car.

The new versions of Jenny and Joy... I don't know if I can handle that after 13 years.
