"Well..." James lowered his voice. "Who do you think I am, Hitch?" He asked Alexa with a sly grin on his face. "Hold on a sec." James sat down next to Ty and began drawing another diagram in his notebook. Ty shot a quick glance towards Alexa and Valerie before saying, "Well, if you run it like that, you've got an open jumper from the corner." James nodded and walked over to Alexa and Valerie with a smile on his face.
"Indeed I do." James smiled. "You've got a date." He said after taking a dramatic pause. "He's quite the looker. Not only that, but he's charming and a true gentleman."
Ty nearly burst out laughing from his spot on the couch. James had written Valerie's request in his notebook and Ty answered in a way that made his answer clear to James without alerting the others.
"That would be me." Ty stood up and walked over to the group at the door. James and Ty sent each other wolfish grins. They had completely kept the others in the dark while Ty decided.
"All right I'll take it." Valerie nodded with a smile.
Alexa walked over to Jame sand started whispering. "Just so you know, Valerie's Ellery's cousin and Joseph's fraternal twin sister, so even if Ty is Ellery's friend he'll be pissed off if this date goes wrong."
"Don't worry." James muttered in Alexa's ear. "Even through all the talk... he's actually a pretty good guy. I trust him with my life so I think I can trust him with a date."
"Excellent." Ty grinned. *Well, that's pretty sweet. A date just walks into the room right after I had given up on finding one.* He thought to himself happily.
"I was thinking the same thing actually." Ty admitted.
James was busy watching the game over his shoulder and he was scribbling another play into his notebook muttering, "My future coach is nuts." under his breath.
"Looks like it." Ty had a sly smile on his face. "Hey Dalton, how about you tell them what your costume is." Ty figured it would be worth a laugh.
"Sure, why not." James had a smile on his face as he left the room for a moment. He came back in with a scarlet and gold basketball jersey in his hand. In his other hand was a pair of scarlet, gold and white basketball shoes. On the front of the jersey was a shining golden bird and the word Goldenrod. On the back was the number five below 'Dalton'. "I'm going as myself... well next year's self." James was smiling brightly.
"I do not suck, it is a great costume, and yes it can be considered a costume." James took their comments and responded to them in order. A cheeky smile was present on his face the entire time. "You want to know the truth... I'm lazy." He laughed. "Plus we spent forever picking out Ty's costume." James pointed out. "I didn't have any patience left."
"Because..." Ty and James looked at each other and shrugged. "Because well... we don't know." They said together. "But that's not important now." Ty said. "What's important is how great my costume is." James said.
"Really? That's why you're going as yourself." Ty pointed out.
"You're going as a video game character. Is that any better?" James joked.
"Why don't we make it elaborate?" Nuata asked, pulling James up and pulling him to Ellery's place.
Shinn was dress in a pumpkin and Mira was in a ladybug. Neither looked too happy about it. Nor did Navati, but it was sent to them by Nevan, along with a camera.
