"He's not gone for good." Drake said from the hallway. "I spent all night thinking about it, and it's true if Carey beats that Slith we'll probably get Alex's soul back, probably."
Syou's eyes widened. "Another Shadow Battle..........First Carey, now Alex."Syou said. Normally she would ask more questions but she simply walked away with concern for the time being. At least I don't have a key, thought Syou.
"Seighart believed that informing the family in wartime is best. He told them everything. Ellery, this is a war between the forces of dark and light. We had to tell them. Something is going down, and those keys are it. What ever purpose they serve, it's a very dark one if all of them are obtained." Zeke said, sounding like a soldier knowing war is coming.
Jessica said "It's okay. It's like what I said yesterday. That key he gave you is the key to saving him. And beating Slith will probably open that door he's locked behind."
"Hey, we revived Alexa, Joseph, and let's face it I broke the record in dying and reviving." Ellery said. "So why not?" Ellery said.
"Plus how do you know, maybe it does happen like that." Drake told James.
"Yeah JT, you gotta have faith that that's it." Ellery said as he turned Zeke. "This ain't no war, I've wars no I've been in wars this ain't it, it's more like a group battle." he said. "Plus, that still doesn't mean we have to tell him if we're going to get him back anyways."
"I'm sorry that I'm a realist." James said rather coldly before turning to leave. "I'm going to go see how my son is doing. I'll be back later." He told the group before vanishing in a flash of golden light.
Ellery went with him. "You know you didn't have to get like that, you should understand by now that everyone can have their hopes." Ellery said. "Seriously, I don't know, I mean I'm sad but come on you've seen it we can cheat death in fact we did cheat death a million times." Ellery patted his shoulder. "I know, that you're acting this way because it's happening to someone you care about and not you, so you know it's harder to think that it can actually be that simple."
"I know. I suppose I was a little harsh back there." James said after a moment. "I just don't want them to keep their hopes up and not get over his loss."
"I don't think following Kyle around today is a good idea either.....wait! I can sew an outfit for Carey."cried Syou as she ran baak to her room to get started
"Sometimes, it's good to have hope." Ellery said to James. "Now, I'm surprised." Ellery laughed. "How come you became, so serious I mean I ended up turning out more lively in a way, but you became more serious with this things."
"What happened when we were kids changed me Ellery." James explained. "Watching people die... killing more than a hundred men with my own bare hands... I had to become like this to preserve my sanity." He told Ellery with a sad smile on his face.
"I watched people die too remember." Ellery told him. "And I'm fine, it actually thought me something if you ask me." Ellery said. "You have to value and enjoy your life and not let the past get you down." Ellery said. "Plus, I always kept my goal in mind."
"I think you misunderstood... I still love life, you know that." James smiled. "I mean I've got my dream job, my dream girl and two wonderful kids and a great adopted son." James' smiled was even wider now. "This cold persona is just how I've learned to deal with the battles we've faced."
Ellery started laughing. "You know, you just admitted I'm stronger than you psychologically," Ellery calmed down. "Just, don't worry and let them have hope, it's better if they don't turn out like you you know."
