"Usually, they only remember the pain of the attacks they inflected onto others, but that goes away when they are use to beserk rages, like James." Tsunami said.
"He remembers everything, in fact he lets it take over," Alex explained. "But Carey didn't let it, much like it just pushed its way into it once she lost conciousness during the battle." Alex turned to Kyle. "Call Nauta."
"What's up Kyle?" James asked in a slightly tired voice. Kyle quickly told James what had happened and James gasped loudly. He didn't bother cutting the connection.
"Is she alright now?" James had appeared in front of the group. "The first time in that state is always the worst." He explained as he kneeled down beside Carey. "And I would know... that's sort of my thing." He admitted, not knowing if any of them besides Kyle had seen the battle from the night before.
James nodded and looked closely at Carey. "She's just tired. That state takes a lot of energy out of you when you try to fight it." He explained. "There's a reason I let it take me over..." He trailed off. "All she needs is some rest." He said as he gently picked Carey up bridal style and vanished. After placing her carefully on her bed and kissing her lightly on the forehead, he returned. "She's in bed now." James told them. "She should be alright later. After Nuata tends to her other wounds at least. She's on the way."
"But it's kinda weird, I mean why would she have it, I mean she's not related to you by blood." Alex said with a raised eyebrow, she could have demon blood but no one in her side of her family has shown any abilities like those, or maybe Carey's a bit different from the rest of her family."
Indeed, Nuata appeared in a flash of lightning, her body in less bandages, a crutch in her hand, and her clothing in her usual hospital work clothes. "What I missed? Where's Carey?" Nuata asked.
"She's in her bed." James told her. "She's burned... but she isn't in a critical state." James updated his wife on Carey's condition. "And yeah... that's probably not a bad idea." He agreed with Alex. "Because after all, my red eyes is most definitely not a normal, or even possible, human trait."
"Nope, it's a beserker trait found in true demon classes." Nuata said, vanishing in a cloud of bats and headed for Carey's place.
After waking her up with smelling salts and treating her burns (as well as giving her a new change of clothes), Nuata took out a syringe and dabbed Carey's arm with pain dampers.
"So kids..." James addressed the entire group. "I need you to tell me exactly what you saw when Carey's eyes turned red. What did she do? How did she do it? What did she say?" James needed to ask all of these questions so he could know what had happened.
"Well..." ANdrew started. "She was attacked, well, her Poliwhirl was, by a Blast Burn. Then I saw her run out of the smoke, and punch the person on the head, making him bleed. She was looking on the ground after that." Hs stopped to breath, then continued. "Then, she looked up, and we saw her red eyes of rage or whatever. She started to choke Darkseid, and then she let go, and started punching him wildly." It was a very long explanation. "After that, she did one last punch, breaking the barrier, and sending him flying into next Tuesday, then she said something like 'I'm not weak' then collapsed. And here we are now. Hope that helped some."
"Okay." James took a minute to process what he had just been told. "Then it seems like she did go into a state similar to mine, but for a different reason. Hers was because she was tired of people telling her that she was weak while mine was out of anger for harm done to my family." James was thinking out loud. "It's just as I thought... she's not 100% human."
