Pokemon and moves of the same type(s)

What if Pokemon were only able to learn moves of their types (Charizard only knowing Fire and Flying type moves, Pikachu only knowing electric type moves)? How would this affect the games?

Well, it'd probably be pretty boring and frustrating. I think each individual Pokémon would be much more constrained in terms of the battles it could do well in.

Yeah, it would get frustrating. Especially if you can't get your hands on a particular type that is strong against the next Gym.
